My wife, HyangSeon Yoo: She has always been with me and has
been constantly caring and supportive. I am deeply grateful to her for
that gift.
I have felt eternal gratitude to every one of the above and always
will be. The best requital to them I can think of is for me to help all the
people in the world independent of sex, race, age, country, religion, and
wealth.
Acknowledgements
I want to give my huge Congratulation to Mr. Byoung Soon Kim,
from my heart, for publishing his new book, The Silver Bullet, KOSA.
Under the guidance of his father, Master Kim, HyungGwan and his
dedication, Mr. Kim poured his passion and researches into the Korean
Orthodox Saahm Acupuncture, which he has published today; a great
book.
The most impressive memory I have about Mr. Kim was his
passion to teach KOSA. He lived in Texas and came to Los Angeles to
give seminar to KOSA members. It was my pleasure to attend his
seminar to learn KOSA and the class used to pass the midnight due to
his teaching was so remarkable.
I am confident that this book will not only be a great aid to those
who are studying and working in the Oriental medicine industry but
also to those who want to take care of themselves and/or their family
members.

Author’s Foreword
We have been seeing or hearing many more kinds of bizarre diseases
have been discovered and a higher rate of patients than ever before.
Some physicians have been using even maggots and leeches to treat
patients because modern science has not been able to provide better
solutions.

A lady came to me asking if I could help her with her migraine
headache. It was constant for two days and was not relieved even
though she took ten times the dosage of an over-the-counter drug.
Because migraines usually lie on the Gallbladder BONGHAN DUCT, I
pinched her FIRE point of the Gallbladder BONGHAN DUCT located
on her right leg. She told me the pinching immediately eliminated the
terrible migraine. A few weeks later when she happened to see me she
told me the migraine had not come back again.

In this book, most of the secrets of Korean Orthodox Saahm
Acupuncture will be revealed.
I hope this could provide an inexpensive tool and benefit readers
including those in the field of medicine.
I would like to emphasize that the effect of this therapy varies from
person to person and the best method is to use needles only by a
licensed professional.
Once you go through this book step by step and point by point, you
may find that many different kinds of diseases, disorders, pains and/or
aches can be successfully treated.

1 Korean Orthodox Saahm Acupuncture
1.1 Introduction
There have been three frequently used claims by western medicine to
dispute the effectiveness of acupuncture.
• Placebo: This myth can easily be refuted because acupuncture has
been effectively used to treat animals like dogs, cats, and horses
that obviously will not have any preconceived thoughts about
healing.
• Acupuncture treatment anywhere on the body would show
some effect: People used for tests have unique health conditions.
Even though the method of insertion and manipulation of needles
used for a test was identical every time, the reaction would vary
depending on the person. If KOSA was used for the test, the
research should have different results because KOSA is
standardized and, thus, shows very consistent effects.
• Acupuncture compared with control treatment for certain
diseases have not shown significant findings in favor of
acupuncture: As described in the above, KOSA would have
shown significant findings compared to acupuncture.
Even though all the above three claims are officially accepted by
western medicine, there are many people seeing acupuncturists and
there are even medical physicians, osteopaths, chiropractors and other
medical specialists (in some states, there is no specific training required
for a medical or osteopathic physician to practice acupuncture)
practicing acupuncture.
KOSA in this book will show you that KOSA would show
significant findings in comparison to other types of acupuncture.
5
Unique Approach
6
It would be a very interesting subject for a scientist to study the
relationship between the gallbladder's temperature and migraine
occurrences.
With frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) the arm’s mobility has
been limited. By KOSA theory, frozen shoulders are caused by
unhealthy organs like the liver, lung, large intestine, and/or small
intestine and making those organs healthy should treat this problem.

1.2 History
1.2.1 History of Acupuncture
The following are abstract from Chosun Daily News’ web site vii;
In 1285, a Korean doctor, Kyungsung Sul of the Korea Dynasty was
invited to China (Yuan Dynasty) and he was honored by the Chinese
Emperor because he successfully treated inveterate diseases of the
emperor and his sons.
About 400 hundred years ago, during the Korean Chosun Dynasty,
an ascetic with the penname Saahm invented the Saahm acupuncture
formulas, utilizing YIN YANG and FIVE ELEMENTS theory, after
spending 13 years living in a cave. With his methods of acupuncture,
unique and never seen before, he treated thousands of patients
successfully. Before him, YIN YANG and FIVE ELEMENTS theory
had never been properly or clearly understood and utilized for
acupuncture treatment.
9
Five Phases Acupuncture or Five Elements Acupuncture from Japan
had been introduced to western countries based on Ascetic Saahm
Acupuncture methods, but used only two points instead of four points,
commonly used by Saahm. Actually, KOSA varies the number of
points depending on the problem(s).
If there is only one symptom, only one point can be used and if there
are complications then the number of points used can exceed ten.
The treatment must be customized. The readers will learn this very
soon, later on in the book.
10
to be cold. It was not really cold, but actually hot. The higher heat
dissipation caused by the hotness of his knee made him feel cold.
Master Kim treated (subdued) his FIRE point of the Stomach BD
located at the ankle, and the cold feeling went away immediately.
Mr. Song was so impressed that he attended Master Kim’s lectures
with fourteen Oriental medicine doctors who had three to twelve years
of practice experience and one college student, who all were Mr.
Song’s students learning Chinese language.
As soon as Mr. Song learned KOSA, he started an organization
claiming that they invented Korean YIN-YANG Balancing
Acupuncture (Pyung-Chim) and Korean Five-Element Harmonizing
Acupuncture (Hwa-Chim).
Dr. Park’s other students also have successfully treated patients with
incurable disease like Parkinson’s disease, Buerger’s disease, and so on.
11
1.3 Bonghan Duct and Living Egg
1.3.1 Bonghan Duct
12
The novel threadlike structure passes through the lymphatic valve
Bonghan Ducts are also being compared to fiber-optic channels in the
body. These ducts may be able to carry an extremely high density of
information far beyond the limited, one-way signals of the nervous
system or the diffusive information carried by hormones in the blood
stream. A 2004 paper describes how bio-photons, produced by animal
tissues, may be emitted by DNA molecules to produce a laser-like
coherent light capable of carrying an enormous volume of information
through the Bonghan Ducts. The idea that acupunctures ducts conduct
light has already been substantiated by Russian research published as
early as 1991. They found that the light-conducting ability of the
human body exists only along the meridians, and can enter and exit
only along the acupuncture points. This finding has been confirmed by
a 1992 study in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a 2005
study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine
where moxibustion and infrared thermography were used to trace
meridian pathways.
Kim Bonghan believed that the ducts system of communication was
in charge of the formation of the embryo and the control of growth
throughout the organism. He did a series of studies on the embryonic
development of the meridian systems of various animals. He found
that a chicken embryo begins to develop Bonghan Ducts within 15
hours of conception. It appears that Bonghan-duct communication
directs the development of all internal organs and may provide critical
information-feedback loops that create bilateral symmetry in our body.
The science of embryology has a clear understanding of only the very
earliest stages of fertilization and development. The unfertilized egg
has a top and bottom, but there is no distinction between left and right
or front and back. An acupuncturist would say that the orientation of
CONCEPTION duct and GOVERNOR ducts has not yet been established.
Without this primary axis of orientation, the embryo cannot develop.
The stimulus must come from the outside world and it is provided by
the action of the sperm entering the egg. From that moment on, a
guideline is laid out from the entry point of the sperm to the top and
bottom poles of the cell. The first time the fertilized egg divides into
two cells everything lines up along that meridian.
13
As the embryo continues to develop the side on which the sperm has
entered becomes the belly or YIN side, which is subdivided into right
and left orientations by the CONCEPTION duct. The opposite side is the
back or YANG side which is subdivided by the GOVERNOR duct.
In Mind and Nature, Gregory Bateson says that what happens next is
a mystery in the science of embryology. "What controls the nearly
perfect external bilateral symmetry of the mammalian body? We have
remarkably little knowledge of the message system that controls
growth. There must be a whole interlocking system as yet scarcely
studied." Bonghan duct researchers appear to have discovered that
system. It is the only anatomically distinct structural network that
could possibly handle the high volume of information that would be
necessary to control embryological organization.
This relationship between acupuncture and embryology has also
been explored by Charles Shang, MD, who pointed out several striking
physiological similarities between acupuncture points and
embryological organizational centers. Both are areas of high electrical
conductance and both contain a high density of gap junctions, cellular
organelles that facilitate cell to cell communication. Shang theorizes
that the acupuncture points are the same as the discrete
organizational centers that embryologists have found to control the
development of embryos. He postulates that this system of growth
control centers or acupuncture points shape the embryo and then
persists in mature organisms for the purpose of coordinating
information, regulating homeostasis and managing the complexities of
ongoing repair and renewal of the body at a cellular level. Although
Shang's writing predates the recent research on Bonghan Ducts, he
theorizes:"The ducts may be a convenient way of activating intrinsic
adult stem cells."
Because the duct system organizes the development of the embryo
from the very beginning, well before the circulatory and nervous
system are established, it is not surprising to find that these systems
often overlap and interact. Many studies have clearly shown that the
stimulation of the duct system has a profound effect upon both local
blood circulation and imbalances in the nervous system. Furthermore,
because embryonic development reflects evolutionary development, it
is quite likely that the meridian system has more ancient origins than
other physiological systems. Shang states, "Its genetic blueprint might
have served as a template from which the newer systems evolved."
14
Plants do not have a nervous system, yet they display a high degree
of structural organization and complex responses to their environment.
Research published in Scientific American in August 1984 that
describes the effects of light transfer through plant stems may have
been looking at the ancestral precursors of the duct system.
Shang's growth-control model of the duct system does much to
explain why acupuncture has so few side effects. "Conventional nerve
stimulation usually results in unidirectional effects." Acupuncture is
very different from conventional nerve stimulation because it activates
a unique communication network that restores normal function in the
body. Activating the meridian system restores both hyperfunction and
hypofunction to homeostasis; the possibility of any adverse side effects
is extremely low.
This not only denies traditional theory that cells are created only by
cell division, but also makes the classic Bonghan Duct theory a great
new system to study.
15
1.3.3 Bonghan Ducts and Acupuncture Points
16
1.4 YIN YANG and Five Elements Theory
Oriental medicine is based on the theory of YIN YANG and FIVE
ELEMENTS.
We all are a part of the cosmos and have the information of the
cosmos. YIN YANG are the same as the cosmos. Thus, understanding
YIN YANG and FIVE ELEMENTS will help us understand our bodies.
Oriental medicine has allocated organs in accordance with this theory,
established the relationships and interactions between organs, defined
the functions of the organs and the BDs of those organs, and five
elements locations on those BDs. For example, the Gallbladder BD
starts from head and ends at a toe. Migraine, which usually lies on the
Gallbladder BD, can easily be treated by making the gallbladder
healthy by manipulating one or two of the FIVE ELEMENTS points of
gallbladder.
In order to describe the history of the theory of YIN YANG and Five
Elements, Korean history shall be understood first.
17
Bokhee was the first of the Three Sovereigns of ancient China. He is a
culture hero reputed to be the inventor of writing, fishing, and trapping
x
and the one who initially arranged of the trigrams .
Trigrams are eight diagrams used in cosmology to represent the
fundamental principles of reality, seen as a range of eight interrelated
concepts. Each consists of three lines, each line either "broken" or
"unbroken," representing YIN or YANG, respectively. Due to their
tripartite structure, they are often referred to as "trigrams" in English.
The trigrams are related to Taegeuk (which means the great
xi
polarity) philosophy and the five elements .
YIN and YANG are Chinese words and can be translated as negative
and positive in English, respectively. Positive means that consisting in
or characterized by the presence or possession of distinguishing or
marked qualities or features (opposed to negative).
18
Everything has YIN and YANG in it just like a coin has a front and a
back. This means that there is no pure YIN or YANG but rather a
matter of what is more YIN or YANG. A woman can be represented as
YIN. However, inside of her is YANG and in order for her to be
neutralized she will have to talk more than a man. A permanent magnet
is dead because it does not change its polarity unless there is external
physical force applied to it. An electron (which is arbitrarily assigned a
negative charge) has positive characteristics like movement of rotation,
revolution, and gyration, so it would be classified as YANG, while a
proton (arbitrarily assigned a positive polarity) would have to not move
to be YIN (which is in accord with scientific observation) if YIN
YANG theory is accurate and true.
YIN is attracted to YANG and vice versa and therefore, life can be
sustained.
The national flag of the Republic of Korea shown above has the YIN
YANG circle (Taegeuk in Korean, which means the great polarity) in
the center, which reflects YIN YANG theory.
The Taegeuk design dates back to the 7th century in Korea but recent
excavations go back even further. The design like two entangled
tadpoles was not found before the 11th century in China. The four
trigrams represent FIVE ELEMENTS.
19
1.4.3 QI
YIN organs affect only YIN organs and YANG organs affect YANG
organs only. However, when a YIN organ gets weak (deficient) the
YANG organ in the same element tends to be deficient as well and vice
versa. For example, if you had a deficient lung, then, most likely you
would have also a deficient large intestine, because both of them are
categorized in METAL.
20
healthy, the gallbladder needs to be fostered (or made healthy enough
to foster the small intestine).
In the above diagram, the thin black arrows indicate the relationship
of subdual. The organs at the starting points of the arrows are subduing
the organs at the ends of the arrowheads.
For example, the spleen subdues the kidney and in turn the kidney
subdues the heart.
21
If you feel languor after meal, it is understood as follows: When the
working stomach gets excessive, it makes the spleen excessive in many
cases. An excessive spleen would subdue the kidney stronger than in
the usual condition, with an empty stomach. Since the kidney is the
organ, which represents energy and has become more deficient than
usual, you would feel languor.
Lung and large intestine are both in the METAL element. Many
people in Oriental medicine have the misconception that if the lung is
in a deficient condition, then the large intestine would be in an
excessive condition. Thus, the total force of YIN and YANG organs in
the same element never changes.
KOSA believes that a deficient lung usually accompanies a deficient
large intestine and vice versa.
This is very important and will be repeated in this book.
22
1.5 YIN YANG and Five Elements
1.5.1 Five Elements – Organs
In the above table, there are two items you have probably never
heard of, PREMIER FIRE and TRIPLE ENERGIZER.
23
1.5.3 Five Elements – Sense Organs
A lady with a lot of pain in her whole body was being treated by a
KOSA acupuncturist. She also had a vision problem where she only
had peripheral vision and could not see forward, but she did not
mention her vision problem to the acupuncturist. A physician told her
there was no remedy. Guess what? The acupuncturist quenched the
FIRE point of her Liver BD to treat the symptoms she told him about.
She then could see in front of her which she had never been able to do
until that moment.
The nose has been regarded as the door of the lung in oriental
medicine. Sinus infection, sinusitis, ozena, anosmia (no sense of smell),
bleeding due to dryness and splitting (dryness causes even bleeding)
nasal skin problems and so on are the result of an unhealthy (most
likely deficient and hot) lung.
Problems with the ears, genitals and anus including tinnitus (or
ringing noise), impaired hearing etc. would be able to be treated
successfully, even though many people believe that impaired hearing is
a typical incurable disease or symptom.
A lady had no feeling on the sole of her feet and felt she was walking
on clouds. During the third or fourth treatment, the KOSA
acupuncturist found her wearing a hearing aid and asked her if she had
not noticed any difference in her hearing capability. He asked her to
take the hearing aid off because he thought there was a good chance
that her hearing had improved. The reasoning is that he was treating her
kidney and the Kidney BD starts from the sole of her foot. Because the
improved kidneys had improved her walking capability, they should
have helped her hearing as well. After examining her hearing,
amazingly, she was able to hear almost perfectly. After that, she has
never worn the hearing aid again.
An ex-coworker retired a few years ago. Working in chemical plants
for a few decades, his hearing had been impaired. I put a magnet on his
FIRE point of the kidney to quench it. Next morning, he told me that he
did not realize how loud he used to watch TV until after the treatment.
25
For ringing noises in the ear(s), depending on the sound, the
problematic organs could be classified as below:
• Kidney: Thin and weak noise, sound of a cicada or a high pitch
noise; usually requires treatment over a long period of time.
• Bladder: Noise of an airplane flying
• Triple Energizer: Sometimes a pulsating sound, or a burning noise
or echoing noise
• Small Intestine: An unclear or muddy noise
• Gallbladder: Sounds like a steel ball rolling on a steel tray
26
problem, although many people believe that it's only a neuronal system
disease.
The heart and small intestine are in charge of the blood vessels.
Varicose veins would be a typical example of this. Manipulating the
heart and/or small intestine would be an effective treatment.
As explained about the WATER element and organs, the bones are
under the control of the kidney. Arthritis, which has been defined as an
“incurable disease” by the FDA, would be able to be treated
successfully with proper manipulation of the kidney and organs in
charge of the problematic area.
27
1.5.5 Five Elements – Manifestation
Smooth and clean nails will represent that your liver is healthy, but if
they are deformed and/or rough that means the liver might have a
problem.
If your face is reddish, then your heart might be hot and/or excessive.
On the contrary, a pale face usually means a cold and/or deficient state
of the heart.
28
WATER – Kidney and Bladder – Hair on Head
My hair used to be dark black until I was fifteen years old. Then, I
began to have gray hair and my hair had got grayer and grayer every
single day. I did not find out why until I read an article stating that
toothpaste might be harmful, depending on the situation. I began
reading the warnings on toothpaste boxes which read as follows:
“Keep out of the reach of children under 6 years of age. If more than
used for brushing is accidentally swallowed, get medical help or
contact a Poison Control Center right away.”
29
1.5.6 Five Elements - Liquids
Too much sweating might not seem to be an important issue but just
an uncomfortable symptom in normal life. Nonetheless, when someone
wants to be a surgeon and is sweating too much, they would probably
not be qualified, because they may not able to hold the surgical
instruments properly. I heard that a student in medical college had to
have surgery as a treatment of the sweat glands in the armpit.
Most babies who are drooling thick saliva show they have healthy
EARTH organs. If their drooling is much more or less than other babies,
then they might have a problem with the EARTH organs.
30
WATER – Kidney and Bladders – Shallow Saliva
Anger affects the liver directly and enormously, and because the liver
is in charge of the muscles and/or tendons (which will be explained
later), so it might result in palsy. Even if your anger is weak, the
continued anger would gradually damage your liver and eventually you
will suffer liver-related issues including palsy. For those people who
get angry easier than other people, the WOOD organ(s) would probably
be unhealthy and treating them would make them more tolerant of
anger provoking situations.
31
FIRE – Heart and Small Intestine – Happiness and Laughing
Have you heard of people who died watching sporting events? Being
overly happy can hurt the heart. Nevertheless, there is a lot of research
on the relationship between laughing and longevity. An example is
given below.
For the first time, researchers have found that laughter causes the
endothelium, the inner lining of blood vessels, to dilate. This increases
blood flow, which is good for overall cardiovascular health. The
message is clear, and economical. "I think it would be reasonable for
everybody to loosen up, and spend about 15 to 20 minutes a day
laughing," said lead researcher Dr. Michael Miller, M.D. Director of
Preventive Cardiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. xiii
Sadness hurts the lung and large intestine, and the weakened
METAL organs would more easily be affected by sadness. On the
contrary, a healthy METAL organ(s) would treat chronic depression.
I met a middle school girl who had spinal curvature. Looking at the
five elements table, I told her mother that she needs to avoid novels,
movies, or anything that would make her daughter scared or frightened,
because those emotions would harm the kidney and, eventually, her
bones including her spine. She was very surprised to hear this and told
me her daughter was infatuated with them and she kept reading and
watching as much as she could even though she was shuddering with
fear.
Avoiding horror material and using a magnet to subdue the FIRE
point of the kidney for a few months corrected her spinal problem.
32
1.5.8 Five Elements - Spirits
Angry people usually shout. However, if the person does not shout,
they would generally have healthy WOOD organs. Therefore, shouting
and sighing could hurt the WOOD organs. Sounds affect organs and
organs affect the type of sounds in both positive and negative ways.
33
1.5.10 Five Elements – Indication
When a person feels cold, the coldness affects the WATER organ(s)
which will lead to shuddering of the whole body.
34
1.5.11 Five Elements – Harms
35
Whether it is type I or type II diabetes, the pancreas is the key organ
and western medicine has been trying to take care of diabetes
symptoms with externally fed insulin in either type. There is no feasible
scientific yet economic method available to control the amount
precisely. However, I think insulin fed externally would confuse the
health control system of the body and the system will eventually order
the pancreas to shut down the insulin factory and cause it to atrophy.
Diabetics rely on insulin more than before and getting peace of mind
would make them too lazy to be cautious, to make their bodies healthier
and to fight diabetes. When diabetics are told that their feet or hands
would have to be amputated, usually it is too late. I think KOSA could
help them even at that late stage.
The Heart BDs have branch paths passing the eyes and seeing things
too bright or flickering like CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors, LCD
monitors or LED monitors for a long period of time might hurt the
heart.
36
EARTH – Spleen / Pancreas and Stomach – Sitting
Directions
Even changing the direction one is facing affects the grasping force
of the fingers.
37
The Bi-Digital O-Ring Test (BDORT) was discovered by Dr.
Yoshiaki Omura MD, ScD, in 1977. Omura, who has degrees in
electrical engineering and in medicine, became aware of the Applied
Kinesiology Dysfunction Localization Principle in which touching a
dysfunctioning body area causes a large muscle, often in the arm to
weaken. While researching brain circulation, pathological tenderness,
and the hand's grasping force, Omura became convinced that finger
muscles were particularly useful for locating and diagnosing physical
dysfunction. He applied for a patent in 1985, stating, "It is the primary
object of the present invention to provide a method which permits
imaging of internal organs, localizing exact organ representations at
the front and back of the body of a patient and to provide significant
diagnostic capabilities." The US Patent Office issued the patent in 1993.
Color
It may be difficult to believe that color also affects the organs, but
colors are associated with each organ. For people with a weak lung,
white clothes would be helpful to improve their lung.
TCM uses colored tape for treatment, and even in western medicine
colored light is sometimes used for weight loss, insomnia, skin disease,
pain, acne, depression, high blood pressure, bedsores, etc.
Climates
Wind might harm WOOD organs; heat might harm FIRE organs and
so on.
38
1.5.13 Five Elements - Food
A few years ago, I read an article about pickling hot vegetables, like
hot pepper in vinegar, in which a scientist discovered why the hot taste
disappears in vinegar.
HOT and SOUR are of METAL and WOOD, respectively. When
they are mixed, as METAL subdues WOOD, in turn HOT will subdue
SOUR. However, vinegar’s SOUR is stronger than HOT, so SOUR
wins over HOT and HOT gets weakened. Kimchi is an essential side
dish of Korean food and originated in Korea. Preparing kimchi requires
hot pepper because the HOT of METAL subdues the SOUR of WOOD
and therefore keeps kimchi preserved for a longer period of time.
The important things I would like to mention here are about beef,
cheese, milk, butter and anything from cows and oxen.
The reason why beef is more tasteful than pork is from the fat. The
fatter the meat is, the more tasteful it is. When you would like to make
food more tasteful, you consume it with butter or oil. When you do
B.B.Q. you would see that a piece of beef never stops oozing fatty oil,
even though it looks as if it has totally been burned.
Fat’s melting point for beef and pork is from 113.0 to 122.0 deg. F.
and from 96.8 to 113.0 deg. F., respectively xiv. This means that not all
beef fat would melt in our bodies, unless they are chemically digested
first. In addition to that, because beef or dairy products would support
the FIRE organ(s), the heart and small intestine, consuming lots of fat
would result in too much heat in the body.
Even though some people claim that cancer cells could be killed by
heating them, my opinion is that cancer cells would have to be
quenched instead. Also, I think there is no feasible method to heat
cancer cells without sacrificing healthy cells.
There was a 14 years old girl who had bad constipation and could
ease herself only once a week. She used to usually make the toilet full.
Her other problem was atopic dermatitis.
40
Since heat is increased by consuming EARTH food, and that heat
would subdue the METAL organ(s), including the large intestine in
charge of skin, I recommended that she and her mother avoid food in
the EARTH category. About two weeks later, her mother told me all
the problems had gone. A few months later, her mother told me she
fixed her daughter beef and the old issues resurrected right away, and
then quitting consumption of the food in the EARTH column made her
daughter’s problems disappear again.
If you have a skin disease, please avoid food in the EARTH column
and try to consume those in the WATER column (only if you do not
have an allergy to them). If avoiding the EARTH food does not help
you, then all kinds of meat and all kinds of fish would have to be
avoided as well. If it still does not help, then avoid all food which
involves chemical processing and artificial spices and additives.
While KOSA believes that most skin diseases are due to problems of
the large intestine, the liver's unhealthiness could be another one of the
causes, even though it has seldom been seen.
41
1.5.14 Vegetable Oil
The point is that nothing is perfect in this world, and not all
chemicals used during the second process are recovered 100%. That
means that no matter how small it is, there is always some resides in the
oil which would be consumed by us. Nevertheless, I hope solvents
would be the only pollution we are taking into our bodies every day, no
matter how small an amount it is.
42
1.5.15 Olive Oil
Many people think they have been taking care of themselves, their
families and our world. You would probably be one of them.
Please spare a couple of hours and watch the movie, Food Inc.,
which was directed by Robert Kener and shown in 2008. The movie is
about an unflattering look inside America’s corporate controlled food
industry and the risks and health concerns that might be affected by the
industrialized farming and processing of food.

1.5.17 Conclusion
We have learned about YIN YANG and the Five Elements. In the
next chapter, we will learn how to apply them in dealing with various
challenges, and I hope you would be able to take care of yourself when
you complete a careful perusal and understanding of this material.

2 The Bonghan Ducts and Disease &
Pain
In oriental medicine, the functions of the organs are not only just
what western medicine thinks of, but also what are described below
(but not limited to):
• Interactions with other organ(s) by sharing information through
interconnection and by subduing and fostering others,
• Healing its own health issues and also the areas which its Bonghan
Duct and branches are in charge of,
• Produces symptoms when it cannot take care of its own health
issues.
There are twelve Primary Bonghan Ducts and each set is distributed
left and right symmetrically. Thus, there are a total of twenty four
Primary BDs. Naming conventions are in the order of:
• Arm or Leg
• Greater YIN, YANG Brightness, Lesser YIN, Greater YANG,
Absolute YIN or Lesser YANG
• Organ’s name
• BD (Bonghan Duct)

Some diseases might appear more than once, and it is very important
to understand that those diseases discussed here could be related with
other organ(s) and BD(s).
Diseases and pains not discussed in this book would also be helped
greatly by KOSA, as long as you follow the formulas and fundamental
rules.
47
2.4 Standard Position and Terms of Direction
The standard position and the terms for the orientation of the human
body used in traditional acupuncture point location are not the same as
those used in modern anatomy. For example, according to the
traditional method, the palmar side of the upper limbs, or the flexional
side, is called the medial aspect. This medial aspect is the distribution
area of the acupuncture points of the three YIN arm BDs. The dorsal
side of the upper limbs, or the extensional side, is called the lateral
aspect. This lateral aspect is the distribution area of the acupuncture
points of the three YANG arm BDs. The side of the lower limbs closer
to the midline is called the medial aspect, which is the distribution area
of the acupuncture points of the three YIN leg BDs. The side of the
lower limbs away from the midline is called the lateral aspect. The
posterior portion of the lower limbs is called the posterior aspect, and
this aspect, along with the lateral aspect, is the distribution area of the
acupuncture points of the three YANG leg BDs. The anterior and
posterior BD lines of the head, face and trunk are the respective
distribution areas of the Conception BD and the Governor BD. These
BD lines are the baselines for locating acupuncture points on either side
of each pair of the two BDs. The modern anatomical position is
adopted by WHO Standard to describe acupuncture point locations: the
body stands upright, eyes look forward, feet together with toes pointing
forward and upper limbs hanging by the sides with palms facing
forward.
48
• Proximal and distal: closer to the trunk is proximal; further away
from the trunk is distal.
49
2.4.2 WHO Standard Measuring Unit
Because everybody has different lengths and sizes of hand, arm, foot,
leg and body, ordinary units like centimeters or inches cannot be used,
and there are three standards in oriental medicine used to locate the
acupuncture points, but only two, Proportional bone (skeletal) cun (B-
cun) and Finger cun (F-cun), will be explained in this book. Also the
description of how to locate acupuncture points will be limited to only
the points used in this book.
Note: Only the parts used for KOSA have been described.

BD flow directions described in this chapter are very important when
you use metal or wooden rod tapping techniques to foster or subdue.
YIN BDs’ acupuncture points are in the order of WOOD, FIRE,
EARTH, METAL and WATER from fingertips to elbows or from toe-
tips to knees. YANG BDs’ points are in the order of METAL, WATER,
WOOD, FIRE and EARTH from fingertips to elbows or from toe-tips
to knees.

2.5 Arm Greater YIN Lung BD - METAL
The lung implements the order of the King (heart) that controls the
QI so that QI can be distributed to the whole body.
This BD originates in the MIDDLE ENERGIZER (CO12 where the
end of the Liver BD’s branch ends), in the region of the stomach,
• descends to connect with the large intestine near CO9 and ST25,
• returns upwards to pass CO13 (the cardiac orifice of the stomach)
and traverses the diaphragm,
• penetrates the lung,
• ascends to the throat region,
• passes obliquely downwards towards LU1 where the lung BD
emerges and interconnects with the Spleen BD,
• runs through LU2 thru LU10,
• traverses the thenar eminence to terminate at the radial side of the
thumbnail at LU11.
• A branch separates from the lung BD at LU7, at the styloid process,
and travels directly to the radial side of the tip of the index finger,
where it links with the Large intestine BD.
Interconnections
• Conception BD and Triple energizer at CO12 and CO13
• Large intestine BD at LI1 through LU7
• Spleen BD at LU1

This is an amazing story.
A male Korean born in 1920 living in the US had abdomen pain and
he visited two hospitals where both did an MRI scan and found nothing
unusual or wrong.
When the gentleman visited his family in Korea, he had the fortune
of visiting a KOSA member.
The member asked him if he had any other health concerns than
abdomen pain. The man told him about his biceps which was cut close
to the shoulder 15 years ago during exercise. Since there was no
appropriate remedy available for that, he just let it go. It had gotten
worse and eventually he could not raise his arm and could bend his
wrist only 10 degrees.
During the treatment for abdominal pain, subdual of the FIRE points
of the BDs of the lung and spleen (LU10 and SP2) were added for his
arm problem. The abdominal pain significantly lessened right away.
Not being fully satisfied with that successful treatment, the patient was
asked to try to bend his wrist. He was able to now bend it 45 degrees.
The patient was very happy even though the KOSA member was
disappointed with that result in his mind.
Next morning, the patient’s son called the KOSA member and told
him that his father was able to raise his arm just like he had never had a
problem. His abdominal pain disappeared after three more treatments,
and he had been able to move his arm and wrist freely right after the
first treatment.
The treatment included subduing the FIRE points of the lung and
spleen. Subduing the FIRE point of the lung was used because the
biceps of the arm lies on the Lung BD. Subduing the spleen FIRE point
will be explained later.
KOSA can usually kill more than one bird with one stone during
treatment. In other words and as the above story shows, a patient with
migraine, rhinitis, menstrual pain, and hyperacidity, can all be treated
together at the same time. You do not have to visit the same number of
physicians as the number of your diseases.
Extraordinary, interesting, miraculous, fraudulent and mythical are
words used when you do not understand something. The above story is
not fiction, but just one of many typical results acquired by KOSA so
many times.
KOSA acupuncturists commonly have a problem in that their
patients have too much expectations, because they have heard about so
many miraculous results of KOSA treatments.

2.6 Arm YANG Brightness Large Intestine BD
The large intestine sends the water, which is extracted from the food
delivered from small intestine, then transforms it to stool and transports
the stool to anus.
This BD has 20 points on each side and begins at LI1, which is
located at the radial side of the tip of the index finger,
• runs through LI2 thru LI15, (In between LI14 and TE15, BD
interconnects with Triple Energizer BD.)
• crosses behind the shoulder to the depression between the scapular
spine and the lateral extremity of the clavicle (LI16),
• travels in a medial direction, passing through SI12 (in the centre of
the suprascapular fossa) to GV14 (just below the spinous process
of the vertebra of C7) where it meets with the other five YANG
BDs of the arm and leg,
• from GV14 it enters the supraclavicular fossa in the region of
ST12 and connects with the lung before descending through the
diaphragm to join with the large intestine.
A branch ascends from the supraclavicular fossa along the lateral
aspect of the neck, passes through the cheek, and enters the lower gums,
• from the gums the channel passes through ST4 curves around the
upper lip and crosses to the opposite side of the body at GV26, at
the philtrum,
• from GV26, the left channel travels to the right and the right
channel travels to the left to terminate either side of the nose at
LI20,
• at LI20 the Large Intestine BD joins with the Stomach BD at ST1.
Interconnections
• Triple Energizer BD between LI14 and TE15
• Stomach BD at ST1, ST4 and SI12
• Governor BD at GV14, where there are six YANG BDs which
include Large intestine, Stomach, Small intestine, Bladder, Triple
energizer, and Gallbladder and GV26

2.8 Leg Greater YIN Spleen BD
The spleen digests the food and transforms nutrition into Qi, which is
transported to the whole body by the spleen. It also creates and controls
blood, is in charge of functions of the mouth and lips, holds organs in
their proper positions, transports QI to the whole body, controls the
four limbs, and affects intellectual activity.
This has 21 points each side and,
• begins at the medial side of the tip of the big toe at SP1,
• runs along the medial aspect of the foot, following the border
where the skin changes color,
• ascends in front of the medial malleolus at SP5,

leg to a point 8 B-cun superior to the medial malleolus where it
crosses (and then travels anterior to) the Liver BD,
• ascends along the medial aspect of the knee and the antero-medial
aspect of the thigh to the lower abdomen where it intersects the
Conception BD at CO3, CO4 and CO10 before entering the spleen
and connecting with the stomach,
• emerges in the region of the stomach and ascends first at 4 B-cun
lateral to the midline then at 6 B-cun lateral to the midline, passing

2.9 Arm Lesser YIN Heart BD
The heart is the King of all other organs and thus it controls all the
other organs. Also, sagacity is originated from the heart.

which is located right in the center of the heart and connects there from
the branch end of the spleen,
• emerges from the system of blood vessels surrounding the heart
and descends through the diaphragm to connect with the Small
intestine through CO9.

Another branch travels directly from the heart to the lung and
branches off.
• A branch descends to emerge from the axilla at HT1, then

BDs of Lung and Pericardium) to the elbow at HT3,
o descends along the antero-medial aspect of the lower arm to the
pisiform bone of the wrist at HT7,
o travels through the palm and along the radial side of the little
finger to terminate at the radial corner of the nail at HT9, which
is connected to the Small intestine BD at SI1.
• Other branch exits from lung, runs into the spine and interconnects
with the kidney.

101
A lady who was the recipient of a kidney transplant told me a very
interesting story. After the transplant, she began to feel a tangling
sensation on the sole of her foot and asked her physician about it. He
suggested that she put a Coca cola glass bottle on the floor and roll it
with her sole. That solved the problem and both of them did not know
why it worked.
I explained to her that the Kidney BD starts from sole and
stimulating her sole must have done something to her kidney. As a
matter of fact, the WOOD point of the kidney BD is located on the sole,
and soft stimulating acts as fostering. Fostering WOOD subdues
EARTH and a weakened EARTH would have weaker subdual power to
WATER. Thus, it might have led to less subduing of the WATER of
the WATER YIN organ, the kidney, and must have thus eliminated the
problem.

2.13 Arm Absolute YIN Pericardium BD
The pericardium is an agent of the heart. Although the heart and
pericardium are both FIRE organs, the heart and pericardium are
referred to as the king and the premier, respectively. When YANG QI
stays at CO17 (located in the midline at the level of the heart), the
upper energizer gets developed. Thus, the emotions will become
flexible, good and joyful. This invisible organ wraps around the heart
and if the wrapping gets too tight, then you would feel tight in your
heart or get impatient.
This BD has 9 points on each side, and originates in the centre of the
chest, connects with the pericardium, and descends through the
diaphragm to the abdomen, passing through the triple energizers (upper,
middle and lower at CO17, CO12 and CO7, respectively).
One branch
• runs from inside the chest to emerge in the costal region 3 B-cun
inferior to the anterior axillary fold (near PC1),
• arches over the axilla, and follows along the anteromedial aspect of
the upper arm, between the Lung BD and Heart BDs to the cubital
fossa of the elbow at PC3,
• descends the forearm between the tendons of the palmaris longus
and flexor carpi radialis muscles to reach the palm at PC8,
• travels from the palm along the middle finger to terminate at its tip
at PC9.
Another branch arises from the palm at PC8 and follows the radial
aspect of the ring finger to its tip where its BD is connected to TE1.
Interconnections
• Conception BD at CO17, CO12 and CO7
• A branch begins from PC8 and interconnects Triple Energizer at
TE1, which is located at the fourth finger tip.

The liver is responsible for spreading and regulating the QI in the
body. Its character is flowing and free. It is also responsible for storing
blood when the body is at rest and is regarded as the most important
organ involved in women’s menstrual cycle and sexuality. While the
spleen is in charge of intellect and thought, the liver is in charge of
executive contemplation in cooperation with the gallbladder.

the dorsum of the big toe at LR1 where it is interconnected with the
gallbladder, and runs along the foot to LR4, 1 B-cun anterior to the
medial malleolus,
• ascends along the medial aspect of the lower leg, intersecting the

2.19 Bonghan Ducts and Health concerns
I happened to talk with a lady who had pain in her left thumb for a
few months. A name had not been given to this symptom and thus,
there was no remedy. She was telling me that she would go see a
physician and take an X-ray or CT scan. I told her it would be no use
because her lung was not healthy enough to take care of the problem no
matter what the root cause is. She said “My husband, a physician, also
told me exactly same as you’ve told me that they would not find
anything. But my lung is okay.”
Since her problem is located on her left thumb, which is on the path
of the Arm Greater YIN Lung BD, subduing (or quenching) LU10
(the FIRE point of the Arm Greater YIN Lung BD) on her right thumb
would have made her lung healthy and her healthy lung would have
successfully treated the pain.
Opposite side? Yes, opposite side. KOSA manipulates the healthy
side, not the unhealthy side.
Once again, her lung was not healthy enough to heal the pain in her
thumb whatever the root cause of it was.
Even though there is no noticeable symptom, it does not necessarily
mean the patient is completely healthy.
KOSA makes organ(s) healthy and healthy organ(s) treat the disease,
disorder and/or pain.
The Essentials
Please always keep in mind the following for the best results. Proper
understanding and utilization of these guides would, in most cases,
result in a successful treatment.
• Consider the functions of the organs from the point of view not just
of conventional western medicine, but also of oriental medicine
• Consider the interrelationship between the Five Elements and the
organs
• Keep in mind the paths and branches of the BDs

healing influenza, infection, or inflammation? Healthier organ(s) with
less fever and/or inflammation, which are helped by Aspirin, can kill
the virus and/or bacteria. This illustrates the excellence of KOSA's
approach, which is that KOSA makes unhealthy organ(s) healthy, and
also maximizes the healthy organ(s)' role in the self-healing system.
140
KOSA’s approach is to make the organ(s) healthy, and healthy
organ(s) treat the health problems, which would result in natural
healing and/or cure.
The important thing we need to know here is that all of medicine and
drug use in western medicine deals with the symptoms only, and not
the root cause. These substances usually create side effects even though
you may not notice them. In the real world, there is no drug action
which is as specific as a cruise missile. Even if there were such drugs,
still there would always be a chance of side effects, especially because
drugs are used more than is necessary.

2.21.4 Self Maintaining System
Knee Arthritis
A few years ago in Korea, an elderly lady over 80 years old had
arthritis in both of her knees, and all of her articular hyaline cartilages
were gone. Although her physician strongly recommended that she
have surgery, she refused, and instead, took KOSA treatment about a
month and half. When she went back to her physician, she had no
problem with walking and any activities using her knees. He took
another x-ray and his jaw dropped because her articular hyaline
cartilages were perfectly recovered. She had not changed her food, nor
taken something other than KOSA treatment. Most importantly, would
this result happen in other patients similar to her? My answer would be
“Most likely, yes.” The major part of the treatment was subduing the
FIRE points of her kidney and the BDs passing by her knees.
142
3 Diagnosis
3.1 Observation
The following are frequently used for diagnosis in oriental medicine.
1. Spirit: The complexion, the eyes, and the state of mind
(depressive disorder, manic disorder, and epilepsy) are observed.
2. Face color:
a. The healthiness of the organs is believed to be reflected in the
following places: the left cheek, chin, nose, right cheek and
forehead represent the liver, kidney, spleen, lung and heart
respectively.
b. A person with a face color that is red, yellow, green, dark, and
pale respectively, have a tendency of getting diseases related
to the heart, spleen, liver, kidney, and lung, respectively.
However since this applies only to oriental people, please
disregard this.
3. Demeanor or appearance
a. Movement and tranquillity
b. Cough and panting
c. Convulsive spasm
d. Hemiplegia
e. Wilting and impediment
f. Chest and abdominal pattern
g. Delirious frenzy
h. Debilitation of the viscera and bowels manifesting as failure to
move properly
i. Others like overweight, thin, violent movement of the four
limbs, sitting with an extended neck, and sitting facing
downward
j. Areas to be observed: The eyes, nose, ears, teeth, gums, lips,
mouth, throat, and hair
143
4. Skin
a. Skin color like jaundice and as mentioned in item 2.b. above
b. Swelling and distention including edema
c. Maculopapular eruptions
d. Measles – wind papules and concealed papules
e. Scarlet fever
f. Miliaria Alba
g. Pox
h. Erysipelas
i. Damp toxin
j. Phlegm and vomit (clearness, frequency, taste, time of
occasion, and history)
5. Four limbs
6. Tongue: Certain area of the tongue represents the healthiness of
the organs: the heart, spleen, liver, kidney, triple energizer, lung,
stomach, gallbladder, and bladder. Also, the color, body shape,
and coating of the tongue are observed. A pale red tongue with a
thin white fur is healthy.
144
3.3 Asking / Inquiring
1. Food and taste
a. Food and appetite - poor or lack of appetite, poor appetite with
fullness in the stomach, hunger with no desire to eat or
excessive appetite and getting hungry easily.

distinguish tastes, salty taste sensations, or pungent taste.
2. Chills and fever
a. Pattern of exterior, interior, half exterior, half interior and/or
alternate chills and fever
b. YIN and YANG and vacuity and repletion: Vacuity heat,
repletion heat, vacuity cold and repletion cold
c. Persistent high fever, tidal fever, irritable/vexing fever and
mild fever
3. Stools and urine
a. Stools and defecation
• Constipation: Dry stools, small bitty stools like goat’s stools,
alternation of constipationand diarrhea, and etc.
• Diarrhea: Borborygmi with loose stools, loose stools with
undigested food, bloody stool with mucus/puts, tenesmus,
first dry then wet stool, cock-crow diarrhea
• Flatulence, watery stool, prolapse of anus, hemorrhoids,
fistulas.
b. Urine and urination: Yellow urine, clear and profuse urine,
turbid urine, red urine, very frequent and copious urination,
urgent urine, scanty urine, red urine, painful urination,
enuresis, incontinence, difficulty in urine, dribbling urination
or retention of urine, dysuria, contracted scrotum.
4. Sweating and Perspiration: Spontaneous sweating, night sweating,
expiring sweating, yellow sweating.
5. Pain
a. Area
b. Type: Distending pain/bloating and fullness, pricking
pain/sharp and stabbing, weighty pain, colicky pain, pulling
pain, burning pain, cold pain, dull pain, hollow pain.
6. Dizziness
7. Sleep: Insomnia, lethargy.
145
8. Tinnitus
a. A loud, high-pitch noise like a whistle from an excessive liver
(mainly acute)
b. A low-pitch noise like rushing WATER by deficient kidney
(mainly chronic)
c. Deafness/hearing impairment
d. Red and painful eyes
e. Blurred/clouded vision
9. Menses and leukorrhea: Menstrual disorder, menstrual pain,
dysmenorrheal, leukorrhea, vaginal discharge, frequency, quantity,
color, smell.
The right hand’s index finger, middle finger and ring finger of the
diagnostician will be put on the patient's left wrist at the FIRE, WOOD,
and WATER ELEMENTS points respectively.
The left hand’s index finger, middle finger and ring finger of
diagnostician will be put on the patient's right wrist at the METAL,
EARTH, and PREMIER FIRE points respectively.
146
The diagnostician equally increases the pressing force on these points,
and ceases increasing the pressing force when all three points’ pulses
are felt. He or she then holds this pressure and compares the repelling
forces of the points. This is the moment to compare the YANG organs’
strength because YANG is more superficial than YIN.
With this state, the strength of five YANG organs (Gallbladder of
WOOD, Small Intestine of FIRE, Stomach of EARTH, Large Intestine
of METAL and Bladder of WATER) is compared.
The premier FIRE point could be neglected, or used only for other
informational purposes.
147
YIN to YIN and YANG to YANG. I think this rule is very easy and
simple to remember, yet it is a very effective rule. Here, Ascetic
Saahm’s formula #1 or #2 kicks in.
Let’s assume that you have a migraine along the Gallbladder BD.
After comparison of the YANG pulses, if the gallbladder’s pulse is
stronger than the others, it indicates an excessive gallbladder and it has
to be subdued.
If it is weaker than the others, then the gallbladder is deficient and
will have to be fostered.
If it is neither stronger nor weaker, then the temperature of the
gallbladder would need adjustment.
148
The heart rate gets faster during meals and for about two hours after
a meal, because the stomach is working hard to digest the food. After
too many hours of sleep, the heart rate gets lower. Other activities
would change the heart rate too. Measuring the heart rate two hours
after a meal or with an empty stomach would be ideal and it should be
checked regularly.
The following is from the web site EverydayHealth.com xxiv for your
information.
Resting heart rate (beats per minute or bpm)
• Babies to age 1: 100–160
• Children ages 1 to 10: 70–120
• Children ages 11 to 17: 60–100
• Adults: 60–100
• Well-conditioned athletes: 40–60
149
3.5 Other Consideration
Symptoms of heat, numbness, irritation, itching, acute pain, chronic
pain, etc. can simply be treated like a kind of pain.
The type of stool, frequency of bowel movements, color of the stool,
quantity of stool, diarrhea, having to go to the bathroom right after a
meal or during a meal, etc. would usually be caused by deficiency,
deficiency and hotness or hotness of the large intestine.
The reader might get confused because there are eight Bonghan
Ducts (or organs) related with asthma according to the list of diseases
described in the chapter, 2 The Bonghan Ducts and Disease & Pain
(page 45) which are the lung, stomach, small intestine, bladder, kidney,
gallbladder, Conception BD and Governor BD.
I understand the reason of this confusion, in that traditional oriental
medicine has successfully used more than one acupuncture point (or
Bonghan Ducts) for treating asthma. When the treatment was found to
be successful, they have listed all the Bonghan Ducts used. For
example, KOSA’s treatment for asthma utilizing Ascetic Saahm’s
formula #1, fostering the lung, includes the Bonghan Ducts of the
Spleen, Lung and Heart and depending on the situation, even a single
point treatment on the spleen can turn out to be successful. Overlooking
the organs’ interactions, the interconnections of the organs and five
elements theory could have made people confused, and resulted in
putting asthma in the list of the diseases related to certain organs or
BDs. Nevertheless, referring to these lists could be beneficial for
reviewing the treatment plan.

4 Ascetic Saahm’s Formulas
In this chapter, the four Ascetic Saahm’s formulas are explained with
diagrams and tables. These formulas are very logical and are the best
tool to balance the organs and to make them healthy.
Arrows with spears upward and downward are the points to be
fostered and subdued, respectively.

4.1 Ascetic Saahm’s formula #1
The diagram of fostering the liver on the next page will be used to
explain Ascetic Saahm’s Formula #1.
Since the liver is a WOOD organ, its parent, the kidney (a WATER
organ) shall have to be fostered. Thus, we will foster the WATER point
of the WATER organ (the WATER point of the kidney). This is the
first point.
The second point is the WATER (parent element) point of the organ
to be fostered. In this case, it is the liver. Since its parent’s element
point (WATER of WATER) is fostered, the WATER point of the liver
(a WOOD organ) is fostered.
Since the lung (METAL) subdues the liver (WOOD), the lung shall
be subdued to weaken the subdual force of the lung and the METAL
point of the METAL organ (the lung) shall be subdued. This is the third
point.

4.4 Ascetic Saahm’s Formula #3 and #4
Although antibiotics are used to treat infections, once the infection
area surrounds the bone, there is no treatment available other than
amputation. Every once in a while, you hear professional players of
basketball, baseball, football, etc. who have to pause or quit playing
due to inflammation and/or infection.
Infection and inflammation are accompanied by heat. Once the heat
is quenched, the body’s self-healing mechanism kicks in and treats the
problem.
Here, Ascetic Saahm’s formula #3 comes in and this would be a
great help to cope with the above cases.
When you have a runny nose, which gets worse in cold weather, it
would probably be caused by your lungs’ being colder than normal and
they cannot evaporate the moisture in the air.
Here, Ascetic Saahm’s formula #4 kicks in and this formula would
warm your lungs enough to get rid of the problem.
179
4.5 Ascetic Saahm’s Formula #3, Quenching
The purpose of this formula is to quench the heat of organ(s).
Nowadays, because of pollution and improper nutrition many people
have problems related to inflammation and hotness. Therefore, formula
#3 is frequently used.

Heating the kidney, heart, bladder and small intestine uses the
same four points, fostering FIRE points and subduing WATER points.
When malnutrition was not rare and many people’s problems were
accompanied by weakness and coldness, this would have been used
frequently. However, since a lot of diseases nowadays involve heat, this
formula is seldom used and might be used only for patients with a heart
rate 60 or fewer beats per minute.

4.8 Consideration
We have learned so far that there are basically two methods of
treatment, one involving deficiency and excessiveness, and the other
involving temperature.
To help understand this better, see the table below. We will use Case
C to clarify the complexity because it is commonly seen nowadays.

5.3 Using Permanent Magnets
The north pole of a magnet is the pole which, when the magnet is
freely suspended, points towards the earth's North Pole in northern
Canada.
When the North Pole and the South Pole of a magnet is touching the
acupuncture point (or skin), it has the effect of fostering and subduing,
respectively.
Ferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic materials are the ones normally
thought of as magnetic. Since the materials of a magnet do not affect
the results, either one can be used as long as it is convenient and it does
not incur the effects of irritation, itching, stinging, or any other
uncomfortable sensation on the skin. The strength of a magnet affects
the result and it seems that the stronger ones work better than the
weaker ones. However, I have not personally found a specific
relationship between the strength of the magnet and results of the
treatment.
My preference of magnets is the disc type, which is axially
magnetized and has a size of 1/16" dia. x 1/32" thick (5,233 Gauss) or
1/8" dia. x 1/32" thick (13,200 Gauss).
It is mostly recommended to put on magnets for three hours or two
hours per use for the heart rate of 79 or less beats a minute or 80 or
more beats a minute, respectively. However, the hours of magnet use
needs to be varied individually. Once the magnets are removed, they
could be reapplied a few hours later. For example, if those with a heart
rate of 78 beats a minute used magnets for three hours, they can reapply
magnets after three hours of removal.
If there is any problematic sensation at the point of contact on the
skin by the magnet, or if you notice any new symptom or discomfort
occurring, the magnet should immediately be removed.
My preference of tape is 3M MicroporeTM Surgical Tape, which is
made of paper.
You can get magnets through one of the links below.

A lady who was stepping out of the pub asked me if I had any drugs
for heartburn on me. I told her I didn’t. I asked her if she would try my
magnet therapy and she told me that she would. I put the South Pole of
a magnetic rod for about ten seconds on ST41 at her right ankle, which
was to quench the FIRE point of her stomach and she told me her
heartburn went away.
188
I usually make a magnet rod, which consists of six or eight
cyliderical magnets (1/4” in diameter and 1” in length, 6,549 Gauss)
and I hold the magnet rod at the center, so that the magnet field would
not affect me.
WARNING
Never fall asleep with magnets on the acupuncture points,
BDs and BDs’ branches of HEART and PERICARDIUM.
189
5.4 Tapping
A few years ago, during a business trip, I happened to be with a
coworker who had a pain right on the middle of the transverse crease
on the dorsal side of the right wrist. Because the pain area was located
on the Triple Energizer BD, I tapped on his left TE6 with a car key
while holding the key so that the tip of key was directed towards his
hand (this is upstream direction of the Triple Energizer BD). Right after
about a dozen times of tapping, he began smiling and tilted his head
because he could not believe the fact that his pain went away.
190
Remarks
• The material of the tapping rod can be anything like steel, wood,
stone, etc.
• The tip of the tapping rods should be dull enough not to harm the
skin or flesh.
• Tapping should be mild enough not to harm the skin or flesh.
• The best way to subdue and foster is to use magnets. The second
best method to subdue is pinching and to foster is tapping.
If both sides of a body have a problem with the same severity or the
problems are on the center line of the body, then, the following rule
applies.
Treatment for a woman should be applied to her right side while
treatment for a man should be applied to his left side.
If you would like to improve left side earlier than the right side since
you are a left hander, treatment should be applied to the right side
regardless of sex.
For example, for a man with heartburn, ST41 (the FIRE point of the
stomach BD) at his left ankle shall be treated and a woman with
heartburn shall be treated on her right side.

various levels of severity, health condition, auto-immune system, self-
healing system, self-maintaining system, complications, causes, etc. it
is literally impossible for me to put them all in this book.
Diseases and pains described here can be seen commonly or rarely
and they have been intentionally chosen in a mixed fashion.
My intention is to provide readers with tools and how to use them to
cope with various diseases and pains successfully whatever they are.
The following proverb would explain my intention better.
"Give a man a fish and he won't starve for a day. Teach a man how
to fish and he won't starve for his entire life."
Since using needles is not described here and needles won’t be used,
the effect might not be as good as with using needles. Nevertheless, the
techniques described would still be able to provide you with
satisfactory results. If not, please be patient and keep trying and you
would eventually be so.
Also, I have put important information here and there, as necessary,
so please enjoy discovering those precious teachings and try not to skip
them.
6.1 Acne
According to WHO’s ICD classification xxv, acne is categorized in
L70 and there are ten codes of Acne vulgaris, Acne conglobata, Acne
varioliformis (Acne necrotica miliaris), Acne tropica, Infantile acne,
Acné excoriée des jeunes filles, Other acne and Acne.
According to Wikipedia xxvi, acne is a general term used for eruptive
disease of the skin. It is sometimes used as a synonym for Acne vulgaris.
However, there are several different types of acne: Acne conglobata,
Acne miliaris necrotica, Tropical acne, Infantile acne/Neonatal acne,
Excoriated acne, Acne fulminans, Drug-induced acne/Acne
medicamentosa (Steroid acne), Halogen acne, Chloracne, Oil acne, Tar
acne, Acne cosmetica, Occupational acne, Acne aestivalis, Acne
keloidalis nuchae, Acne mechanica, Acne with facial edema, Pomade
acne, Acne necrotica, Blackhead, and Lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei.
193
There are many consumer products fighting acne consisting of oral
pills and skin applications. The bottom line about acne is that there is
no cure according to the manufacturers’ information, oral pills have
side effects, the skin application products penetrate the skin, and
bacteria are involved.
Let’s talk about the skin application products’ penetrating the skin.
How deep would they penetrate? Would they affect the skin only?
Once having penetrated the skin, would they not harm healthy skin
parts?
I think all toilet articles should be controlled by the FDA more
strictly, because they penetrate the skin and there would always be a
chance to harm the consumers. Is the inside of the skin not the inside of
the body?
The common factors of acne are the skin and bacteria, whether
inflammatory or non-inflammatory.
KOSA’s understanding is that the large intestine is in charge of the
skin. Thus, KOSA’s treatment would consist of two key parameters,
which are fostering the large intestine and taking care of the BDs
related to the problematic area. The problematic area whether
inflammatory or non-inflammatory can be assumed to be hot and thus,
it should be quenched.
194
Below table is to treat the acne on face.
No matter how excellent KOSA is, if you would not pay careful
attention in treating, it would not work. So, please read thoroughly the
section, 1.5 YIN YANG and Five Elements (Page 23) and apply the
theory to help you.
Also, please pay attention to the food, especially because the food in
the EARTH element category would make hotness worse. When just
stopping the food in the EARTH element category does not help as
hoped, the best practice would be becoming a vegetarian until the
problem is solved.
195
6.2 Allergy
The reason why the incidence of atopy in developing countries has
generally remained much lower seems to be that they are more tolerant
of causes (or healthier) than the people in the US. This means that we
in America have been eating, drinking or contacting bad or harmful (or
industrialized) things too much.
196
The large intestine is in charge of the skin and the lung could be
regarded as related to the skin as well. A healthy lung and large
intestine would make the immune system healthy as well.
Now, we need to make smart and logical decisions.
Fostering the lung and large intestine consists of fostering EARTH
points and subduing FIRE points. Fostering the kidney and bladder are
done by fostering METAL elements/points (lung and/or large intestine)
and subduing EARTH elements/points. In order to choose the more
appropriate approach between fostering the METAL element or the
WATER element, we need to check what other symptoms we have and
what organs are related to those symptoms. Whatever you feel
uncomfortable about should be treated as a disease, and it should be
treated at the same time, because your body is a living system with self-
maintaining systems consisting of organs. Treating all the symptoms at
the same time is of the key to the benefits of KOSA.
Also, the heart rate should be measured and taken account of, if you
are not on blood pressure pills, because if it is 80 or more beats a
minute, your body condition is hot. In this case, choosing fostering
METAL organs to foster the EARTH element/points and to subdue the
FIRE element/points would make sense.
Following table would help you understand and make the right
decision.
When the heart rate shows hotness with 80 or more beats a minute,
quenching organ(s) would be the best treatment as following.
For food and skin allergy, quenching the large intestine (No. 1 thru
No. 3) is used. In order to deal with stomach problems at the same time,
No. 4 can be added.
For respiratory allergy, quenching the lung (No. 5 thru No. 7) except
for KI2 is used.
Because the kidney and liver are in charge of detoxification,
subduing KI2 and LR2 (the FIRE points of the kidney and liver) can be
added for all kinds of allergy.
If you have allergy to foods, the skin and the respiratory system, all
of the points in the above table would better be used.
Fostering the WATER points of the stomach and liver has not been
included in the table because subduing the FIRE points is more
effective than fostering the WATER points. Nevertheless, for the more
198
aggressive treatment and quicker improvement, you can add fostering
these WATER points.
199
For those with a cold heart rate of 60 or less beats a minute, it would
be better to consult with KOSA members.
Lastly, insect stings, animal bites, and knife/metal cuts could also be
much helped by fostering the large intestine because the symptoms
stays on the skin level, and the history is relatively short.
6.3 Amenorrhea
Primary and Secondary Amenorrhea
Primary amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation in a woman by
the age of sixteen. Secondary amenorrhea is when an established
menstruation has ceased—for three months in a woman with a history
of regular cyclic bleeding, or nine months in a woman with a history of
irregular periods. This usually happens to women aged 40–55 as part of
menopause, but can occur earlier as a pathological state.
KOSA’s approach
The WATER organs (kidney and bladder) are in charge of the
genitals (or sex organs). In oriental medicine, it is understood that
blood is generated by the spleen and stored in the liver. The Liver BD
also passes through the sex organs.
Considering these parameters, it would be obvious that there are
three organs: the kidney, spleen and liver, which might have to be
manipulated. If the sex organs are directly (or physically) involved, the
bladder would have to be included as well.
Practically, without skill in pulse diagnosis, it would not be easy for
you to find out whether their organs' conditions are in deficiency,
normal or excessive. However, here is a simple and accurate tip from
KOSA. It would be easier to do a thermal check by measuring pulse
beats a minute. 80 or more beats a minute and 60 or less beats a minute
are signs of hotness and coldness, respectively.
200
The treating points for hotness would be as following.
If you got angry frequently and for a long period of time, even
though you have held it in well enough that nobody noticed it, there is a
good chance that you have excessive liver (and most likely, hot too). If
this is the case, even though WOOD organs are supposed to be subdued
by METAL organs to be balanced, the liver easily upsets the spleen and
the lung and makes both the spleen and lung deficient.
201
The treatment for this case would be fostering lung as following.
202
6.4 Appendicitis
Acute Appendicitis
KOSA’s approach
Since the appendix is right at the beginning of the large intestine, and
appendicitis’ symptoms are inflammatory, quenching the large intestine
would be the most appropriate approach.
203
6.5 Arthritis (Rheumatism or Rheumatic disorder)
Treating rheumatism or rheumatic disorders is identical to treating
arthritis.
The kidney is in charge of the bones. Arthritis, which refers to
diseases of the joints of the body, would be occur due to an unhealthy
kidney in general and the various organs whose Bonghan Ducts pass
the afflicted areas.
There are six organs whose Bonghan Ducts pass around the knee: the
Stomach, Spleen, Liver, Kidney, Bladder, and Gallbladder. To find out
which organ’s Bonghan duct passes the problematic area, you need to
walk, bend, rotate etc. It is usually located on the Stomach BD but I
would like to add the Spleen as well because this case’s approach is a
good example, and could be applied to treating other diseases
simultaneously.
The first step would be quenching the kidney and other organs
related to the problematic area. Here, they would be the Kidney,
Stomach, and Spleen. Thus, we need to utilize Ascetic Saahm’s
formula #3 and the following points will be used.
204
quench the stomach. Points on row 6 are to quench the spleen BD
which passes the knee.
Points on row 7 and 8 are chosen by the theory of paired BDs. Thus,
fostering the WATER points of the above organs and subduing the
FIRE points would be the complete treatment.
If you would like to make this more aggressive, fostering SI2, the
WATER point of the small intestine and/or subduing BL60, the FIRE
point of the bladder could be added.
KOSA understands that most of diseases are due to weak and hot
organ(s), which is caused by, once again, improper and/or unbalanced
diet, insufficient exercise, and bad environment including pollution.
As a result, this arthritis could be successfully treated if we bring the
temperature of the kidney and other organs related to the BDs passing
the problematic area down to normal and make them healthier as a
result.
205
Once the symptom becomes alleviated for a few days or longer, then
it would probably be a good time to change the treatment method from
quenching to fostering the kidney. To do this, Ascetic Saahm’s formula
#1 is used, which is fostering METAL points and subduing EARTH
points as in the following table.
206
Points from No. 1 to No. 3 and from No. 4 to No. 6 are to complete
Ascetic Saahm’s formula #1, fostering lung and large intestine,
respectively.
Subduing FIRE points of SP2 and ST41 has been added to make the
treatment more aggressive.
Subduing the FIRE point at KI2 has been added because the kidney
is in charge of the bones.
This treatment would be a safer option than the method of fostering
the kidney described earlier Table 6-9 Treating Osteoarthritis and/or
Rheumatoid arthritis on knee by utilizing fostering the kidney (Page
206).
Infectious arthritis
Most of, if not all, infectious arthritis could be treated with the
methods for treating Osteoarthritis and/or Rheumatoid arthritis.
207
6.6 Asthma, Bronchitis and Pertussis (Whooping
Cough)
Asthma is a common chronic inflammatory disease of the airways.
Symptoms could be prevented by avoiding triggers, such as allergens
and irritants, and by inhaling chemical like corticosteroids.
KOSA is to make organs healthy and balanced and healthy organs fix
the problems naturally and prevent other diseases and/or pains from
happening.
Please keep in mind that no matter how strong bacteria or viruses are,
there have always been survivors in this world and only healthy (not
strong) people would survive them.
You become more frequently to contact the ads about getting rid of
germs than ever before. I think they are trying to threaten you claiming
there are insects on your bed, germs are everywhere and so on. They
have even come up with spray killing germs in the air. I am wondering
if those products would kill germs only, while not hurting consumers’
healthy cells.
208
I do not like to see the people wearing medical uniforms in public
like in restaurants because they have higher chance of being exposed to
harmful germs at their work and spreading them in public. If their work
place is cleaner than the public area, then they would probably bring
germs to their work. They might have washed their hands and arms but
how about their hair, face, neck, and uniforms?
What I am trying to say here is that the germs, allergens and etc. are
not the causes but the triggering factors of asthma. With the same
environment, some people show asthma symptoms while the other
people do not. The intermediate cause of asthma is weak lung or weak
respiratory system and the root cause of it is bad food, industrialized
food, unbalanced diet, inadequate exercise, toxic chemicals and
pollutions from living environment and etc.
209
The following table can be used for the treatment.
If the patient is a child, using all of the points described earlier in this
section might be too aggressive and subduing FIRE point of lung,
LU10 would be sufficient. If the result is not satisfactory, you can add
fostering WATER point of lung, LU5.
210
6.7 Behçet's disease
The treatment of Behçet's disease would be pretty much same as
treating Buerger's Disease. We just have to quench the inflammation
wherever the symptoms are located at.
211
Quenching organs
212
6.8 Biliary Tract (Cholecystitis, Gall Stones)
Treating this disease starts from finding BDs and organs related to
gallbladder.
BDs close to gallbladder are stomach and kidney and we know the
problem is at gallbladder.
213
6.9 Bronchospasm
Bronchospasm is a sudden constriction of the muscles in the walls of
the bronchioles. Since it involves the muscles, liver in charge of
muscles would better be considered as a part of the treatment. Other
than that, the treatment would be very similar to treating asthma. Please
refer to the section, 6.6 Asthma, Bronchitis and Pertussis (Whooping
Cough) (Page208).
When the heart rate indicates hotness, quenching lung would show
better results.
214
6.10 Buerger's Disease (Thromboangiitis Obliterans)
A Korean living in Canada had Buerger’s disease and he had an
arrangement having his legs amputated in a hospital in Japan. He
visited home country to walk on his feet for the last time before surgery.
He had successful treatment by a KOSA member in his hometown.
When he met physicians in Japan, they could not believe what they
were seeing because his legs were just fine. The surgery was cancelled.
Symptoms are on arteries and veins of the hands and feet, because
blood circulation in those areas is not sufficient.
We have learned that blood is generated, stored, and distributed by
spleen, liver, and heart, respectively. If skin and flesh is involved, we
need to treat large intestine and stomach, respectively.
Because deficient lung and large intestine are common problems of
ours, we could come up with an approach of fostering large intestine as
following. This treatment is quite aggressive because blood circulation
system stays all over the places.
215
6.11 Cancer and Tumor
According to Wikipedia xxvii, researchers divide the causes of cancer
into two groups: those with an environmental cause and those with a
hereditary genetic cause. Also, that causes of cancers are Chemicals,
Diet and exercise, Infection, Radiation, Heredity, Physical agents,
Physical trauma and inflammation, Hormones, and Others is described
in it.
Master Kim says that all of us were born with a fixed amount of air
and food we can consume. In other words, no matter how good it is, too
much always hurt and is worse than too less.
216
Treatment with needle and the other ways describe in this book
would show different effectiveness and not all esophagus cancer would
be able to be cured because everybody has different severity, history
and different self-healing capability. Nevertheless, still, this would help.
Utilizing paths of BDs and BDs’ branches and organs’ functions are
imperative.
In order to treat aggressively, utilizing Ascetic Saahm’s formula #3
(quenching) would be preferred to other formulas.
Once the results are satisfactory, the quenching treatment plan can be
changed to formula #1 or #2 (fostering or subduing) considering the
theory, rules, paring and other parameters.
217
6.12 Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Syndrome is described as below in Wikipedia xxviii.
In medicine and psychology, a syndrome is the association of several
clinically recognizable features, signs (observed by a physician),
symptoms (reported by the patient), phenomena or characteristics
that often occur together, so that the presence of one or more features
alerts the physician to the possible presence of the others. Specific
syndromes tend to have a range of possible etiologies or diseases that
could create such a set of circumstances. I.e. there is an important
distinction between Parkinson's disease and a Parkinsonian syndrome,
whereby the latter could be caused by the former, but also by other
conditions such as progressive supranuclear palsy or multiple system
atrophy. In other words, in a medical setting, a syndrome might
narrows down the possible diseases a patient may possess, just as
speaking English might focus a guess as to the country in which that
person originates.
I guess the reason why the word, syndrome has been introduced to
medicine is that there are just too many diseases to name them
individually. Also, it is obvious that most of those diseases with the
word of syndrome have no cause identified and no effective treatment.
Affected areas of this carpal tunnel syndrome are the thumb, index,
long, and radial half of the ring finger. These areas are directly related
to BDs of organs of Lung, Large intestine, Pericardium, and Triple
energizer. However, since median nerve is believed to be most
suspected and it is located right on Pericardium BD, taking care of
pericardium would be the most important part of the treatment.
218
The first treatment we can think of is when the heart rate shows
hotness and following treatment would be expected.
When a person with the cold heart rate of 60 or less beats a munit is
sensitive to cold, swapping FIRE points and WATER points in the
above table is required to heat organs. However, it would be a very rare
case.
219
When the heart rate is between 60 and 80 beats a minute, Ascetic
Saahm’s formula #3 would probably still work. However, if it does not
work, then Ascetic Saahm’s formula #1 would have to be used as
following.
220
6.13 Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke)
The treatment described here would be applied after when the visit to
physician and the first aid provided by them have been finished. I am
not saying that this KOSA treatment would not be of help in the first
stage but since this book is not to deal with the emergency situation, the
physicians shall be sought first. Once the symptom has been stabilized
after physician’s treatment, KOSA would be a great help.
Symptoms appear usually on the right and the left side for men and
women, respectively.
KOSA is not concerned if the affected brain is on the left of the right
side but the affected side is concerned and the healthier side will be
treated as usual.
221
Fostering large intestine would be as following. Fostering lung could
be used instead.
222
Subduing liver would be as below.
223
6.14 Chyluria (Chylous urine)
The important organs related to this disease are kidney, bladder, and
genital organs.
224
When the heart rate is 60 beats or less in a minute, the method would
probably have to be changed to fostering kidney as following.
225
6.15 Cold
Wikipedia xxix describes common cold as below.
The common cold (also known as nasopharyngitis, acute viral
rhinopharyngitis, acute coryza, or a cold) is a viral infectious disease of
the upper respiratory system, caused primarily by rhinoviruses and
coronaviruses. Common symptoms include a cough, sore throat, runny
nose, and fever. There is currently no known treatment that shortens
the duration; however, symptoms usually resolve spontaneously in 7 to
10 days, with some symptoms possibly lasting for up to three weeks.
Efforts to develop a vaccine against the common cold have been
unsuccessful. Common colds are produced by a large variety of
rapidly mutating viruses; successful creation of a broadly effective
vaccine is highly improbable.
226
Please search ‘swine flu vaccine conspiracy’ on the internet. You
would find many interesting articles about swine flu vaccine.
One of them says, “which I do neither believe nor want to do so, is
that the purpose of pushing vaccine is to implant identification chips in
our bodies.”
227
The entire campaign against these parents is blatantly illegal. There
is no law in Maryland requiring the vaccination of children, thus
parents who refuse to do so may not be legally charged with violating
any law. Instead, Maryland health and school authorities are using
Gestapo-like tactics, threatening to charge the parents with child
truancy violations, criminalizing them for daring to protect their
children from the dangerous chemicals found in vaccines (including
thimerosal, a chemical additive containing a neurotoxic form of
mercury).
The other interesting article is the one dated on 01/29/2006 from The
New York Times’ web site xxxi. The followings have been quoted from
the first page among six pages.
Title: Why Revive a Deadly Flu Virus?
1. One morning last August, Terrence Tumpey, a research scientist
at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta
2. A synthesized version of an influenza virus that, nearly a century
before, killed between 20 million and 50 million people
3. In the 20th century, flu pandemics occurred in 1918, 1957 and
1968. The last two killed two million and 700,000 people
respectively - again, claiming most of their victims among the
young, the old and the weak.
4. Tumpey and his colleagues say they hope that their resurrected
microbe will help prevent a calamity, not cause one. They want to
know what made the 1918 flu, which began as a virus native to
wild birds, mutate into a form that could pass easily from one
human to another. That question has been weighing on the
minds of flu experts since 1997 - since the first fatal case in Hong
Kong of the avian flu that has since killed more than 70 people in
Asia. So far, all of its victims probably caught the disease from
handling infected poultry and not from other people. How close is
it to crossing the same lethal line that the 1918 virus did? What
can be learned from the virus that caused the great pandemic
that might help us avert another one?
5. Its genetic code is now in public databases, where other
researchers can download it to conduct experiments. Scientists
from the University of Wisconsin and the National Microbiology
Laboratory in Canada have already collaborated to reconstruct
the virus from the publicly available sequence. How easy would it
228
be for a bioterrorist to exploit the same information for
malevolent ends?
6. "Give me $100,000 and two months, and I can recreate it right
here in my lab," says Earl Brown, a flu researcher who specializes
in the evolution of virulence at the University of Ottawa. "You
wouldn't be able to tell it from the real thing that was around a
hundred years ago. Would it kill at the same rate as in 1918?
Probably. But you really don't want to have to find that out. You
don't want to give this thing a second time around."
For another one, please visit a web site xxxiii. In that web site there is a
video clip with a title ‘Swine Flu Vaccine Will Be Mandatory in USA Pt.
1’. There are other sites telling about this mandatory thing too.
In some States, you would probably get a fine with amount of $1,000
or become a criminal just because you refuse to get a shot. If you fear
of the side effects of vaccine and you don’t want get a shot, you must
be rich. Would I get a big chunk of compensation from State when I get
Guillain–Barré syndrome due to flu shot? Can they even afford paying
that kind of big pay out? Are they even willing to acknowledge the side
effects of vaccines?
229
This is the last abstract in this book about swine flu vaccine xxxiv.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against getting inoculated with any
2009 H1N1 vaccines. Because of the present “emergency,” these
vaccines have bypassed the FDA’s normal testing procedures, and
there is, by law, no way to sue the pharmaceutical companies who
manufacture the vaccines. If you get negative physical blow-back from
the vaccine (maybe quickly, maybe years down the road), that’s just
too bad.
In the early stage of the common flu or during first two days, the best
treatment would be fostering large intestine instead of fostering lung
because, in oriental medicine, the disease stays at the skin level, which
is YANG, and has not penetrated deep down to blood vessels or organs.
The following table would be suggested.
230
If the cold’s history has been two days or more, fostering lung as
below would be a better choice.
You can add other organs’ FIRE points to be subdued and omit the
points in the table. This is the beauty of KOSA and calling Saahm
Acupuncture as Four Needles technique is due to misunderstanding.
The treatment shall be customized depending on the patient’s
symptoms.
231
6.16 Conjunctivitis
Let’s find out which BDs and BDs’ branches have pathways to the
eyes. They are: the stomach, heart, small intestine, triple energizer,
gallbladder, and liver.
We know conjunctivitis’ symptoms and signs, which indicate hotness
of the eyes and their tissues, and thus, we know we need to quench
those BDs as below.
232
6.17 Constipation
Constipation is another condition which makes people frustrated, and
not easy to deal with either.
Some people judge the status of the large intestine depending on the
stool's color, softness, hardness, shape, frequency, etc., and modify
their treatments accordingly.
The stool of an old lady in her mid 70s had been green for more than
40 years no matter what kind of food she ate. Traditional oriental
medicine thinks that the color indications for the large intestine are as
follows: when the stool’s color is gold, bright and dark, it indicates
healthy, cold and hot, respectively. Because of this, the KOSA member
who was taught this idea a week earlier, thought that the old lady must
have a cold large intestine. Nevertheless, I asked him to try the
treatment of fostering the large intestine. This treatment for a week
changed her stool color to gold, which is the healthy color.
An organ which has recovered from deficiency or excessiveness, can
regulate its own temperature and also, an organ which has recovered
from coldness or hotness, can recover from deficiency or excessiveness.
233
6.18 Cystitis
This disease involves inflammation, the bladder, kidney, and genital
organs. The other organ involved as a function of its BD’s path is the
liver, because it is in charge of the genitals along with the kidney, and
the path of the liver BD’s branch passes genitals.
Quenching
234
Fostering large intestine
The above two approaches would work for both those with hot, and
with normal heart rates of 80 or more beats a minute, and from 61 to 79
beats a minute, respectively.
For those with a cold heart rate of 60 or fewer beats a minute might
be able to use fostering the large intestine. But, because fostering the
large intestine includes quenching FIRE points, it might not be a good
idea and consulting a KOSA acupuncturist would be better.
235
6.19 Diabetes
I think that an entirely dead pancreas would rarely be seen. What I
am trying to say is that there always might be a chance that making a
malfunctioning pancreas healthier could be successful, and KOSA
treatment is worth trying, whether it is type I or type II diabetes.
I have recommended that you to watch the movie, Food Inc. Once
you see that movie, you probably would not like to consume meat like
beef, pork, and chicken and dairy products like cheese, milk etc. Also,
you probably should avoid all flesh-eating, including fish and shellfish.
You would have to consume organic vegetables and avoid all kinds of
chemically processed food.
Whether your heart rate indicates hotness or is normal at 61 or more
beats a minute, and whether the type of the diabetes is I or II, it would
probably be best to utilize fostering the large intestine because there are
very few people who have a healthy stomach and large intestine.
236
Table 6-29 Treating Diabetes by utilizing fostering the large intestine
No. Organ Foster EARTH points Subdue FIRE points
1 Stomach ST36 ST41
2 Large Intestine LI11 LI5
3 Small Intestine - SI5
4 Lung LU9 LU10
5 Bladder - BL60
6 Kidney - KI2
7 Liver - LR2
8 Spleen SP3 SP2
The points at No. 1 through No. 3 except for ST41 are to complete
Ascetic Saahm’s formula #1, fostering the large intestine.
Subduing ST41, the FIRE point of the stomach is to take care of
hotness and/or inflammation of the stomach.
Fostering LU9, the EARTH point of lung and subduing LU10, the
FIRE point of lung are to make the lung healthy so that energy flow
could be improved.
Subduing BL60 and KI2, the FIRE points of the bladder and kidney,
respectively, is to take care of hotness and/or inflammation of those
organs.
Subduing LR2, the FIRE point of the liver is to take care of hotness
and/or inflammation of the liver.
Fostering SP3, the EARTH point and subduing SP2, the FIRE point
of the spleen are to improve the pancreas’ function.
This would be a typical treatment for diabetes, and you can add and
omit points (as long as EARTH points are fostered and FIRE points are
subdued) depending on the symptoms and/or complications of diabetes.
237
6.20 Dyslexia (Learning Disability)
According to Wikipedia xxxv, dyslexia has the causes of Cerebellar
theory, Evolutionary hypothesis, Magnocellular theory, Naming speed
deficit and double deficit theories, Perceptual visual-noise exclusion
hypothesis, Phonological deficit theory, Rapid auditory processing
theory, and Rapid auditory processing theory and a famous actor, Tom
Cruise has overcome dyslexia with help by Scientology.
238
Although I do not believe those magnets made his organs normal
immediately, I gave him a book and let him read and his parent were
watching him.
Amazingly and miraculously, he was able to read the phrases, word
by word and line by line, flawlessly.
A few months later, when his father came to me, I thought the
dyslexia reoccurred and I asked him if it had reoccurred.
He said to me “I would like you to see my son once more to make
him read faster.”
He was just joking but I still think his son’s faster reading from
KOSA treatment would not be impossible.
239
6.21 Eczema, Atopy and Urticaria
KOSA assumes that these are caused mainly by a weak large
intestine. Thus, treating eczema would simply be fostering the large
intestine and the following table would apply.
Even though making the stomach, large intestine, and small intestine
healthy eventually takes care of eczema, it would be better if the BDs
which pass the problematic areas get treated (subduing FIRE points on
them) at the same time. For example, eczema on the back of the hand
could be treated by subduing TE6, the FIRE point of the TRIPLE
ENERGIZER and GB38, the FIRE point of the gallbladder, because
both of them are paired with Lesser YANG.
240
6.22 Enuresis
The bladder, liver, and kidney are involved in urination because the
bladder holds the urine, the liver is in charge of muscle and tendons,
and the kidney is in charge of the genitals. Because the BDs and their
branches of these organs pass the head, manipulating these would
stimulate the brain.
There could be two approaches: using Ascetic Saahm’s formulas #3
and #1. #3 would be quenching the bladder and #1 would be fostering
the bladder, gallbladder or large intestine.
For those with a hot heart rate of 80 or more beats a minute, the
following would be the best treatment.
For those with a normal heart rate from 61 to 79 pulses a minute, the
following two treatments can be considered.
241
Subduing ST36, the EARTH point of the YANG EARTH organ, the
stomach, might be a problem because there are many people who have
hot and deficient stomachs. If you are in doubt, it would be safe to omit
this.
For those with a cold heart rate of 60 or less beats a minute, please
consult with a KOSA acupuncturist.
242
6.23 Erysipelas
Since this usually involves high fevers, shaking chills, fatigue,
headaches, vomiting, and general illness including skin problems,
Ascetic Saahm’s formula #3, quenching would be more effective than
Ascetic Saahm’s formula #1, fostering the large intestine.
Quenching
243
6.24 Facial Paralysis
Once the liver, stomach, and other organs are recovered, these
healthy organs would take care of the symptoms whatever the causes
are, because liver is in charge of muscle and the Stomach has BD and
BD branches pretty much all over the face.
The organs in charge of BDs which pass the face and possible
problematic areas would be the Large intestine, Stomach, Heart, Small
intestine, Triple energizer, Gallbladder, and Liver.
If it is in an early stage or with a hot heart rate of 80 or more beats a
minute, utilizing Ascetic Saahm’s formula #3, quenching organs as
follows would be good.
244
Fostering large intestine
Those with a cold heart rate would better seek a KOSA acupuncturist.
245
6.25 Fibromyalgia (FM or FMS)
The following have been abstracted from Wikipedia xxxvi.
Fibromyalgia (In new Latin and Greek, it means muscle and
connective tissue pain; also referred to as FM or FMS) is a medical
disorder characterized by chronic widespread pain and allodynia, a
heightened and painful response to pressure. It is an example of a
diagnosis of exclusion. Fibromyalgia symptoms are not restricted to
pain, leading to the use of the alternative term fibromyalgia syndrome
for the condition. Other symptoms include debilitating fatigue, sleep
disturbance, and joint stiffness. Some patients may also report
difficulty with swallowing, bowel and bladder abnormalities, numbness
and tingling, and cognitive dysfunction. Fibromyalgia is frequently
comorbid with psychiatric conditions such as depression and anxiety
and stress-related disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder. Not
all people with fibromyalgia experience all associated symptoms.
Fibromyalgia is estimated to affect 2–4% of the population, with a
female to male incidence ratio of approximately 9:1.
Evidence from research conducted in the last three decades has
revealed abnormalities within the central nervous system affecting
brain regions that may be linked both to clinical symptoms and
research phenomena. These studies show a correlation, but not
causation. Some research suggests that alterations in the central
nervous system might be the result of childhood stress, or prolonged or
severe stress.
Historically, fibromyalgia has been considered either a
musculoskeletal disease or neuropsychiatric condition. Although there
is as yet no cure for fibromyalgia, some treatments have been
demonstrated by controlled clinical trials to be effective in reducing
symptoms, including medications, behavioral interventions, patient
education, and exercise. The most recent approach of a diagnosis of
fibromyalgia involves pain index and a measure of key symptoms and
severity.
Fibromyalgia is considered a controversial diagnosis, due to lacking
scientific consensus to its cause. Not all members of the medical
community consider fibromyalgia a disease because of a lack of
abnormalities on physical examination and the absence of objective
diagnostic tests. Fibromyalgia has been recognized as a diagnosable
disorder by the National Institutes of Health and the American College
of Rheumatology.
246
The treatment of this disorder would not be much different than that
of other diseases described in this book.
The first treatment is quenching the organs with problems and this
would be more effective if the heart rate indicates hotness, 80 or more
beats a minute.
247
The second treatment is fostering the large intestine while quenching
all problematic organs as follows.
This can be used not only for those with a normal heart rate (61 ~ 79
beats a minute) but also for those with a hot heart rate of 80 or more
beats a minute.
Also, please go back to the section, 1.5 YIN YANG and Five
Elements (Page23) and read it thoroughly, so as not to miss any
functions described there.
You’d better seek a KOSA member if you have a heart rate
showing coldness, 60 or less beats a minute, because heating instead of
quenching might have to be used.
248
6.26 Glaucoma
The following have been abstracted from Wikipedia xxxvii.
Glaucoma is an eye disorder in which the optic nerve suffers damage,
permanently impacting vision in the affected eye(s) and progressing to
complete blindness if untreated. It is often, but not always, associated
with increased pressure of the fluid in the eye.
The nerve damage involves loss of retinal ganglion cells in a
characteristic pattern. There are many different sub-types of glaucoma
but they can all be considered a type of optic neuropathy. Raised
intraocular pressure is a significant risk factor for developing glaucoma
(above 21 mmHg or 2.8 kPa). One person may develop nerve damage
at a relatively low pressure, while another person may have high eye
pressure for years and yet never develop damage. Untreated glaucoma
leads to permanent damage of the optic nerve and resultant visual
field loss, which can progress to blindness.
Glaucoma can be divided roughly into two main categories, "open
angle" and "closed angle" glaucoma. Closed angle glaucoma can
appear suddenly and is often painful; visual loss can progress quickly
but the discomfort often leads patients to seek medical attention
before permanent damage occurs. Open angle, chronic glaucoma
tends to progress at a slower rate and the patient may not notice that
they have lost vision until the disease has progressed significantly.
Glaucoma has been nicknamed the "silent thief of sight" because the
loss of vision normally occurs gradually over a long period of time and
is often only recognized when the disease is quite advanced. Once lost,
this damaged visual field cannot be recovered. Glaucoma affects 1 in
200 people aged fifty and younger, and 1 in 10 over the age of eighty.
If the condition is detected early enough it is possible to arrest the
development or slow the progression with medical and surgical means.
Although intraocular pressure is only one of the major risk factors for
glaucoma, lowering it via various pharmaceuticals and/or surgical
techniques is currently the mainstay of glaucoma treatment. Vascular
flow and neurodegenerative theories of glaucomatous optic
neuropathy have prompted studies on various neuroprotective
therapeutic strategies including nutritional compounds some of which
may be regarded by clinicians as safe for use now, while others are on
trial. Medication and/or surgery could be provided for treatment.
249
There are six different types of surgery including Canaloplasty, Laser
surgery, Trabeculectomy, Glaucoma drainage implants, Veterinary
implant, and Laser assisted non-penetrating deep sclerectomy.
Generally, these operations are a temporary solution, as there is not
yet a cure for glaucoma.
Organs with BDs and BDs’ branches that have paths to the eyes are
the Stomach, Heart, Small intestine, Bladder, Triple energizer,
Gallbladder, and Liver.
We know glaucoma’s symptoms and signs, which indicate hotness of
the eyes and their tissues, and thus, we know we need to quench those
BDs as below.
250
On December 19, 1979, Master Kim presented Gukchim during the
International Acupuncture and Moxibustion Conference in Seoul, the
Republic of Korea.
Gukchim, named by Master Kim, is a kind of acupuncture that treats
all kinds of disease related to the eyes and, even more, improves eye
vision. Glaucoma is one of the diseases related to the eyes and vision,
which can be successfully treated by Gukchim.
When they examine your eyes, then is not the moment you have your
eyes in an average or median condition.
Your vision changes every single moment and you just don’t feel the
difference. Thus, the perfect fit when you wear glasses for the first time
would not happen.
251
6.27 Gout
The following material has been quoted from Wikipedia xxxviii and
only what is noteworthy is mentioned.
Gout (also known as podagra when it involves the big toe) is a
medical condition usually characterized by recurrent attacks of acute
inflammatory arthritis—a red, tender, hot, swollen joint. The
metatarsal-phalangeal joint at the base of the big toe is the most
commonly affected (~50% of cases). However, it may also present itself
as tophi, kidney stones, or urate nephropathy. It is caused by elevated
levels of uric acid in the blood which crystallize and are deposited in
joints, tendons, and surrounding tissues.
Once the acute attack has subsided, the levels of uric acid are usually
lowered via lifestyle changes.
The increase is believed to be due to increasing risk factors in the
population, such as metabolic syndrome, longer life expectancy and
changes in diet.
Signs and symptoms: Other joints, such as the heels, knees, wrists
and fingers, may also be affected.
KOSA’s approach
Since the metatarsal-phalangeal joint at the base of the big toe is the
most commonly affected (~50% of cases), treating the metatarsal-
phalangeal joint at the base of the big toe only is described and treating
other area can be done by utilizing this treatment and also the paired
BDs.

stomach and spleen at the foot, respectively.
Points on row No. 5 and No. 6 are used by the theory of pairing
Bonghan Ducts.
Thus, fostering WATER points of organs and subduing FIRE points
of organs would be the complete treatment.

6.28 Helicobacter Pylori
The following has been abstracted from Wikipedia web site xxxix.
Helicobacter Pylori can inhabit various areas of the stomach,
particularly the antrum. It causes a chronic low-level inflammation of
the stomach lining and is strongly linked to the development of
duodenal and gastric ulcers and stomach cancer.
More than 50% of the world's population harbors Helicobacter Pylori
in their upper gastrointestinal tract.
Symptoms associated with Helicobacter Pylori can be vague or vary
over time.
They may be non-specific, or caused by other conditions.
Inflammation of, or damage to the stomach lining (gastritis) by
Helicobacter Pylori may cause mild or serious reactions to the
stomach's contents - stomach ache or abdominal pain, acid reflux,
regurgitation, vomiting, belching, flatulence, and nausea.
If untreated for a long time, Helicobacter Pylori infections may be
related to several serious illnesses: Gastroesophageal reflux disease
(GERD), peptic ulcers (duodenal or gastric ulcers), and cancers of the
esophagus and stomach.
Studies have recently been published suggesting Helicobacter Pylori
activity could be suppressed via dietary methods.
254
In addition to the above studies, there are other articles claiming that
the eradication of helicobacter pylori would increase the chances of
diseases related to the esophagus, and that more than 60% of those
patients who have eradicated helicobacter pylori have gotten re-
infected, and that even the eradication of helicobacter pylori is very
difficult to obtain in certain groups of people.
I was told that physicians are not much concerned about helicobacter
pylori any more, as long as they are not the cause of a disease related to
the stomach.
However, I still see a lot of advertisements for drugs and food
supplement products claiming that helicobacter pylori may cause
stomach cancer, etc.
In the movie, Food Inc., Michael Pollan says “The industrial food
system is always looking for greater efficiency, but each new step in
efficiency leads to problems. If you take feedlot cattle off of their corn
diet, give them grass for five days, they will shed 80% of the E. coli in
their gut. But of course that's not what the industry does. The
industry's approach is-- when it has a systematic problem like that-- is
not to go back and see what's wrong with the system, it's to come up
some high-tech fixes that allow the system to survive.”
Earlier in this section, I mentioned two studies claiming that eating
kimchi or broccoli can reduce the number of Helicobacter Pylori
bacteria. Dr. Pollan says that 80% of cows’ E. coli in their gut could be
shedded in five days with grass feeding. These are very important
indications that a correct diet can greatly help to treat disease and keep
a healthy life.
255
6.29 Hemorrhoids
This disease involves the large intestine, kidney, liver, and stomach.
The BDs of the Kidney and Liver have branches pass the problematic
area and its muscles. The stomach is in charge of the flesh.
There could be two options: either quenching the large intestine or
fostering the large intestine.
Quenching the large intestine is used for people with a hot heart rate
of 80 or more beats a minute.
Fostering the large intestine is used for those with a normal heart rate
of from 61 to 79 beats a minute. However, quenching the large intestine
can be applied to those with a normal heart rate as well.
257
6.30 Hepatitis
The following are the abstracts from Wikipedia xlii.
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver characterized by the
presence of inflammatory cells in the tissue of the organ. The condition
can be self-limiting (healing on its own) or can progress to fibrosis
(scarring) and cirrhosis. Hepatitis may occur with limited or no
symptoms, but often leads to jaundice, anorexia (poor appetite) and
malaise. Hepatitis is acute when it lasts less than six months and
chronic when it persists longer. A group of viruses known as the
hepatitis viruses cause most cases of hepatitis worldwide, but it can
also be due to toxins (notably alcohol, certain medications, some
industrial organic solvents and plants), other infections and
autoimmune diseases.
If the hepatitis is acute, the liver is not fighting the inflammation and
we just have to quench the liver as below. For those with hot or normal
heart rates of 61 or more beats a minute, this would work fine.
If you have other symptoms like muscle and joint aches, fever,
nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headache then you would have to add
or omit fostering WATER points and subduing FIRE points of the
related organs as following.
Please refer to the section, 6.51 Pain (Page304) to establish the
optimum remedy for various conditions.
258

Fostering the WATER points and subduing the FIRE points of other
organs in charge of the involved BDs’ paths should be added.
259
6.31 Hypertension
Hypertension is a very difficult problem even for KOSA, because
there are a lot of factors involved.
The following are commonly used prescription drugs and how they
work.
• ACE inhibitors widen blood vessels and help to relieve high blood
pressure by blocking the production of the hormone angiotensin II.
• Alpha blockers work by relaxing the blood vessels. This allows
blood and oxygen to circulate more freely around the body,
lowering blood pressure and reducing the strain on the heart.
• Angiotensin II receptor antagonists work by blocking the action of
a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. As a
result, they relax blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure.
• Beta blockers work by blocking beta receptors that are found in
various parts of the body. Blocking beta receptors prevents the
action of two chemicals, called noradrenaline and adrenaline,
which are produced naturally by the body. These are often referred
to as the 'fight or flight' chemicals, because they are responsible for
the body's reaction to stressful situations.
• Calcium channel blockers work by relaxing and opening up the
blood vessels. They can also be used to treat arrhythmias, which is
when there is an irregularity in the heartbeat. This allows blood to
circulate more freely around the body, lowering blood pressure and
increasing the flow of blood to the heart.
• Diuretics are WATER pills used for treating high blood pressure
(hypertension) and an accumulation of fluid. They work by
blocking salt and fluid reabsorption in the kidney, causing
increased urine output (diuresis). The mechanism of their action in
lowering high blood pressure is not well understood.
• Direct renin inhibitors work by blocking an enzyme in the body
that is necessary to produce a substance that causes blood vessels
to tighten. As a result, the blood vessels relax and decrease the
blood pressure. When the blood pressure is lowered, the amount of
blood and oxygen to the heart is increased.
None of the above deals with the root causes. Since the heart rate is
not generally considered, and multiple drugs are often combined to
achieve the goal of a normal blood pressure, the natural heart rate
before taking hypertension drugs is often hard to know, and this makes
accurate diagnosis difficult. Also, stopping drugs all of a sudden to find
260
the natural heart rate is not recommended, and it does not necessarily
mean that the heart rate would be natural.
Because the systolic blood pressure is the blood pressure in the
vessels during a heartbeat, and in measuring it, the blood vessels must
be pressed down, hypertension might be regarded as due to an
excessive YIN of the heart. If this statement is accurate based on such a
theory, then heating the FIRE organs would make the blood vessels
expand to circulate blood more freely.
Food (even only water or drinks) makes the stomach work hard for
up to two hours, and a hard-working stomach makes the heart rate
higher than when it is empty.
261
Fostering the lung or large intestine would be recommended for
people with a normal heart rate between 60 and 80 beats a minute
because many people have a deficient lung and/or large intestine.
262
Heating the heart for people with a heart rate 60 or fewer beats a
minute, which indicates coldness, would be as below.
263
6.32 Hyperthyroidism
To KOSA, this disease indicates the hotness and/or the excessiveness
of the thyroid. Although the thyroid is not assigned to a certain organ in
oriental medicine, this disease could be treated by utilizing BDs which
have paths and/or branches that pass by the thyroid, which would be the
Lung, Large intestine, Stomach, Spleen, Heart, Kidney, Gallbladder,
and Liver.
264
The alternative approach would be utilizing Ascetic Saahm’s formula
#1, which would be fostering the lung or large intestine as below.
This could also be applied to patients with a hot heart rate of 80 or
more beats a minute, and also those with a normal heart rate of 61 to 79
beats a minute.
People with a cold heart rate of 60 or less beats a minute would better
consult with a KOSA acupuncturist.
265
6.33 Hypothyroidism
KOSA thinks that hypothyroidism might be treated as a deficiency of
organs while hyperthyroidism indicates the hotness of organs.
Since the thyroid is very near the trachea, and many people have
weak lungs, fostering the lung would be the best treatment.
266
6.34 Impotence
The following abstracts are from USA TODAY Website xliii.
Men who regularly take pain relievers such as ibuprofen and aspirin
may be at increased risk for erectile dysfunction, new research
suggests.
Men who use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) three
times a day for more than three months are at a 22% increased risk of
erectile dysfunction, reports Steve Jacobsen, director of research for
Kaiser Permanente Southern California, in this week's Journal of
Urology.
"Regular non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug use is associated
with erectile dysfunction beyond what would be expected due to age
and other conditions," he says.
More than 30 million people a day take these prescription and over-
the-counter pain relievers.
The observational study, which began in 2002, included 80,966 men
ages 45 to 69 who were members of Kaiser managed care plans in
California. Erectile dysfunction was assessed by questionnaire and
NSAID use was determined using pharmacy records and self-reported
data.
Regular users were about 2.4 times more likely to have erectile
dysfunction than men who didn't use those drugs regularly or at all.
Even when the scientists controlled for age, race and ethnicity,
smoking, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and coronary artery
disease among other health problems, a link between NSAID use and
erection problems still existed, said Jacobsen.
Common NSAIDs, Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs include
Acetaminophen, Advil, Aleve, Alka-Seltzer, Anacin, Anaprox, Aspirin,
Aspirin-free Excedrin, Bextra, Bufferin, Bayer, Celebrex, Excedrin,
Ibuprofen, Mediprin, Motrin, Naprelan, Naprosyn, Nuprin, Vioxx.
267
The results raise more questions than they answer, says Stephen
Kraus, professor and vice chairman of urology at the University of
Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
He says NSAIDs have been shown to reduce risk of heart disease, so
the same should be true of erectile dysfunction, which can be linked to
circulation problems. "If it works for one, you'd think it should work for
the other. But lo and behold, the opposite is what they saw in this
study. The question is why?" Kraus says.
The study authors suggest several theories, including that while
treating someone to improve blood flow may potentially make
erections better, it could also hinder other pathways involved in
healthy erectile function.
"It needs to be tested in a clinical trial designed to look at this,"
Kraus says. He agrees it's premature for men to avoid NSAIDs based
solely on this new research.
This problem involves the heart, kidney, bladder and liver. The heart
delivers blood to the whole body. The Kidney is functionally in charge
of energy, and in charge of the genitals by its BD’s path. The liver BD
also passes the genitals.
268
The Points from No. 1 through No. 3 except for KI2 are to complete
Ascetic Saahm’s formula #3, quenching the liver.
Adding KI2 is to make the treatment more aggressive.
The other points are for quenching the bladder and the small intestine,
which is the YANG FIRE organ.
269
6.35 Indigestion
With normal and hot heart rates of 61 or more beats a minute,
Ascetic Saahm’s formula #1, fostering the large intestine as below
would be the best treatment.
270
6.36 Injuries
The second scene of the movie, Sicko, 2007, directed by Michael
Moore shows that Adam is stitching the injury right above his right
knee by himself because he was uninsured and could not afford to see a
doctor.
I hope his wound has healed successfully.
I guess he was aware of the risks of inflammation and infection and
took appropriate measures when he stitched it.
Let’s talk about Adam’s case and what KOSA would do about it.
His cut includes skin and tissue and is located on the path of the
Stomach and right above his right knee. Thus, following Ascetic
Saahm’s formula #3 would be chosen as follows.
271
Table 6-61 Treating Injuries by quenching organs
Foster WATER Subdue
No. Organs Remark

1 Bladder BL66 - YANG WATER
2 Stomach ST44 ST41 BD passes the wound
3 Small Intestine - SI5 YANG FIRE
4 Large Intestine LI2 LI5 Skin and pairing
5 Kidney KI10 KI2 Bone
The Points from No. 1 thru No. 3 are to complete Ascetic Saahm’s
formula #3, quenching the stomach.
This can also be called quenching the large intestine because the
large intestine is quenched as well.
Points of the large intestine have been added because the large
intestine is in charge of the skin and both the stomach and large
intestine are in a paired relationship as YANG Brightness.
If the cut was deep enough to damage the bone, fostering the
WATER point and subduing the FIRE point of the kidney would have
to be added as shown in No. 5.
Since Adam’s cut was located on his right side, the treatment should
be applied to his left side.
272
A lady had a car accident and suffered a fracture of her right radius,
and she could hardly lift a bag weighing one pound because of the pain.
Since her pain was right on the Large intestine BD, I pinched LI5, the
FIRE point of the large intestine, on her left hand a few times and she
could lift 2 pounds with no pain immediately.
The section, 6.51 Pain (Page 304) will describe the variety of KOSA
treatments for various pains and you will find similarities between this
section and that one.
As long as you remember the following, figuring out an adequate
treatment won’t be difficult at all.
• The theory of YIN & YANG and the Five Elements, how they
affect our health, and how to utilize them for our health
• The functions of the organs
• The paths of the BDs and BDs’ branches
• The logic behind Ascetic Saahm’s formulas
• The fundamental rules of KOSA including Master Kim’s
• The definitions of deficiency, excessiveness, hotness and coldness
and how to utilize the heart rate
• The methods to foster or subdue acupuncture points by soothing,
pinching, tapping, and using magnets, and the pros & cons of these
methods
Please keep in mind that the effective width and depth of the BDs
and BDs’ branches could be up to an inch.
273
6.37 Intercostal Neuralgia
Treating intercostal neuralgia is very similar to treating injuries.
The organs whose BDs pass the problematic area would be, from
center to side, the stomach, liver, spleen, and gallbladder.
Let’s assume that it is located close to LR14 (
Figure 2-40 Leg Absolute YIN Liver BD, Page 123) and there are no
bones involved.
274
6.38 Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS or Spastic colon)
The following are abstracts from Wikipedia xlv.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS, or spastic colon) is a diagnosis of
exclusion. It is a functional bowel disorder characterized by chronic
abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, and alteration of bowel habits in
the absence of any detectable organic cause. In some cases, the
symptoms are relieved by bowel movements. Diarrhea or constipation
may predominate, or they may alternate. IBS may begin after an
infection (post-infectious, IBS-PI), a stressful life event, or onset of
maturity without any other medical indicators.
For those with a cold heart rate of 60 or less beats a minute, a KOSA
acupuncturist should be sought.
275
6.39 Kidney Stone (Urinary Stone)
Utilizing Ascetic Saahm’s formula #3, quenching organs would be
the most appropriate remedy as follows.
276
6.40 Leprosy (Hansen's disease)
Because this disease begins from the skin, treatment would be based
on fostering or quenching the large intestine.
277
Fostering the large intestine for people with normal heart rates of 61
thru 79 beats a minute can be done as follows.
278
6.41 Leukorrhea
For women with a hot heart rate of 80 or more beats a minute,
quenching the responsible organs would be the best treatment, but this
could also be applied to those with a normal heart rate from 61 through
79 beats a minute.
Fostering the liver with a normal heart rate from 61 thru 80 beats a
minute would be done as follows.
279
Fostering the heart for those with a cold heart rate of 60 or less beats
a minute would be done as follows.
SP6 is the point where the three leg Yin BDs: Leg Lesser YIN
kidney, Leg Absolute YIN liver and Leg Greater YIN spleen are
crossing. Fostering this SP6 point occasionally helps the three leg YIN
organs stabilize and balance, and this can be added to all the above
approaches.
280
6.42 Lou Gehrig's disease (Amyotrophic Lateral
Sclerosis; ALS)
The following are the abstracts from Wikipedia xlvi.
SOD1
The cause of ALS is not known, though an important step toward
determining the cause came in 1993 when scientists discovered that
mutations in the gene that produces the Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase
(SOD1) enzyme were associated with some cases (approximately 20%)
of familial ALS. This enzyme is a powerful antioxidant that protects the
body from damage caused by superoxide, a toxic free radical
generated in the mitochondria. Free radicals are highly reactive
molecules produced by cells during normal metabolism again largely
by the mitochondria.
Free radicals can accumulate and cause damage to both
mitochondrial and nuclear DNA and proteins within cells. To date, over
110 different mutations in SOD1 have been linked with the disease,
some of which have a very long clinical course (e.g. H46R), while others,
such as A4V, being exceptionally aggressive. Evidence suggests that
failure of defenses against oxidative stress up-regulates programmed
cell death (apoptosis), among many other possible consequences.
Although it is not yet clear how the SOD1 gene mutation leads to
motor neuron degeneration, researchers have theorized that an
accumulation of free radicals may result from the faulty functioning of
this gene. Current research, however, indicates that motor neuron
death is not likely a result of lost or compromised dismutase activity,
suggesting mutant SOD1 induces toxicity in some other way (a gain of
function).
I think, no matter what the cause of ALS is, mutated genes always
have a chance to return to the un-mutated state. There is a lot of
information about ALS and the chemicals that are suspected as causes.
So, you should look back over your daily life environment, and if there
is anything suspicious, you should avoid it immediately. Using only
olive oil, only vegetables, and only organic food would be the first
thing you might want to do.
Because ALS’ most important symptom cannot be discussed without
talking about muscle, of which the liver is in charge, manipulating the
liver would be the best approach for KOSA.
281
For people with a hot heart rate of 80 or more beats a minute,
quenching the responsible organs as follows would be appropriate.
Fostering the liver for people with a normal heart rate from 61 to 79
beats a minute is done as follows.
282
Fostering the heart for people with a cold heart rate of 60 or less
beats a minute is done as follows.
283
6.43 Lupus (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus or SLE)
Because SLE most often harms the heart, joints, skin, lung, blood
vessels, liver, kidney, and nervous system, we will discuss how to treat
all of these simultaneously.
284
If there is a problem with the joints at the thumb where the Lung BD
passes, quenching the lung by fostering its WATER point (LU5) and
subduing its FIRE point (LU10) would have to be added in addition to
quenching the kidney, to take care of the bones. The reason is that
although the kidney is in charge of the bones, the lung might not be
healthy enough to take care of problems on its BD paths. Additionally,
quenching the spleen (utilizing pairing with the lung) would be even
better.
285
Patients with a cold heart rate of 60 or fewer beats a minute would
rarely be seen and they would better consult with a KOSA
acupuncturist.
286
6.44 Mastitis
Because mastitis is an inflammation of the breast tissue, and the
problem is located on the path of the Stomach BD, we just have to
quench the stomach.
Although the above treatment would still be applicable for those with
a normal heart rate of from 61 to 79 beats a minute, fostering the large
intestine as follows would be preferred for those with a normal heart
rate because many people have a deficient large intestine and,
additionally, the stomach and large intestine are paired organs.
287
6.45 Meniere's Disease (Aural Vertigo)
Treating this disease starts from finding the organs in charge of the
ears and hearing, while considering the paths of the BDs and functions
of the organs.
BDs close to the ear are: the Small intestine, Triple energizer, and
Gallbladder. The organ related to hearing is the kidney.
288
6.46 Migraine
In the chapter, Author’s Foreword (Page 1), I described a case where
pinching a lady’s FIRE point of the gallbladder BD eliminated her
severe migraine almost immediately.
The BDs of the Governor and the Bladder are in charge of the
centerline of the body. The Triple Energizer BD is in charge of the area
surrounding the ear. The Gallbladder is in charge of the area between
the BDs of the Bladder and Triple energizer. The Stomach and Liver
have BDs and branches on the forehead, respectively.
We need to know where the migraine is located exactly, even though
migraine is usually located on the Gallbladder BD. The following table
is the formula to treat migraine at the areas of the Gallbladder and
Bladder, utilizing Ascetic Saahm’s formula #3.
289
6.47 Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
The following are the abstracts from Wikipedia xlvii.
Multiple sclerosis (abbreviated MS, also known as disseminated
sclerosis or encephalomyelitis disseminata) is an inflammatory disease
in which the fatty myelin sheaths around the axons of the brain and
spinal cord are damaged, leading to demyelination and scarring as
well as a broad spectrum of signs and symptoms. Disease onset usually
occurs in young adults, and it is more common in women. It has a
prevalence that ranges between 1 and 75 per 50,000. MS was first
described in 1868 by Jean-Martin Charcot.
MS affects the ability of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord to
communicate with each other. Nerve cells communicate by sending
electrical signals called action potentials down long fibers called axons,
which are wrapped in an insulating substance called myelin. In MS, the
body's own immune system attacks and damages the myelin. When
myelin is lost, the axons can no longer effectively conduct signals. The
name multiple sclerosis refers to scars (scleroses—better known as
plaques or lesions) particularly in the white matter of the brain and
spinal cord, which is mainly composed of myelin.
Although much is known about the mechanisms involved in the
disease process, the cause remains unknown. Theories include genetics
or infections. Different environmental risk factors have also been found.
Almost any neurological symptom can appear with the disease, and
often progresses to physical and cognitive disability. MS takes several
forms, with new symptoms occurring either in discrete attacks
(relapsing forms) or slowly accumulating over time (progressive forms).
Between attacks, symptoms may go away completely, but permanent
neurological problems often occur, especially as the disease advances.
There is no known cure for multiple sclerosis. Treatments attempt to
return function after an attack, prevent new attacks, and prevent
disability. MS medications can have adverse effects or be poorly
tolerated, and many patients pursue alternative treatments, despite
the lack of supporting scientific study. The prognosis is difficult to
predict; it depends on the subtype of the disease, the individual
patient's disease characteristics, the initial symptoms and the degree
of disability the person experiences as time advances. Life expectancy
of patients is 5 to 10 years lower than that of the unaffected
population.
290
The most significant symptom of this condition is due to the
inflammation of the brain and spinal cord, and frequently affects eyes
and vision. As the name includes the word, “MULTIPLE”, the
treatment would have to be like performing a symphony.
291
If other symptoms are not mentioned here, you would have to find
the BDs in charge of them by functions and paths, and quench them by
fostering the WATER points and subduing the FIRE points.
Utilizing the pairing relationships between BDs would make the
treatment more efficient.
292
6.48 Mumps
Organs in charge of BDs that pass the face and the possible
problematic areas would be the Large intestine, Stomach, Heart, Small
intestine, Triple energizer, Gallbladder, and Liver.
If it is in an early stage, or with a hot heart rate of 80 or more beats a
minute, utilizing Ascetic Saahm’s formula #3 of quenching organs
would be better than Ascetic Saahm’s formula #1 of fostering organs.
293
As usual, which organ(s) needs to be fostered is a question. When
you think about the area of the problem, you could easily find that the
area is right on the path of the Stomach BD.
There are two methods to foster the stomach, which are fostering the
stomach directly, and fostering the large intestine.
Fostering stomach directly includes fostering the FIRE point of the
YANG FIRE organ, which is the small intestine, but as this would heat
up the organs, it cannot be used.
Fostering the large intestine includes fostering the EARTH points
and subduing the FIRE points of organs. Many people have a deficient
lung and/or large intestine. Mumps includes inflammation, which
requires quenching organs. The Stomach BDs have paths on the
problematic area. Considering these conditions, fostering the large
intestine as follows would be an excellent choice.
For those with a cold heart rate with 60 or less beats a minute,
Ascetic Saahm’s formula #4, heating organs, is supposed to be used but
because the symptom involves inflammation, heating the organs would
not be a good idea. Thus, fostering the large intestine would still be a
good approach. However, for the best treatment, a KOSA acupuncturist
needs to be sought.
294
6.49 Mutism
The following are the abstracts from Wikipedia xlviii.
Causes
Those who are physically mute may have problems with the parts of
the human body required for speech (the throat, vocal cords, lung,
mouth, or tongue, etc.). Being mute is sometimes associated with
deafness as people who have been unable to hear from birth may not
be able to use articulate speech. A person can be born mute, or
become mute later in life as a result of accidents or exposure to certain
chemicals.
Variations
Selective mutism is a DSM-IV diagnosis that refers to an anxiety
disorder in which people are unable to speak in situations causing
social anxiety, but are fluent in speech in more comfortable situations.
Akinetic mutism is inability to speak (mutism) and move (akinesia). It
is the result of severe frontal lobe injury in which the pattern of
inhibitory control is one of increasing passivity and gradually
decreasing speech and motion.
So far, there has not been enough data that KOSA can be of help to
treat mutism. However, let me tell you Master Kim’s two successful
experiments in the Republic of Korea and I would like to say “Never
give up because KOSA can give you a chance”.
A 45 years old woman lost her speaking ability all of a sudden after
dealing with a family issue. She had seen a physician for a month with
no effects. Although she could not speak, she could eat and drink. Her
heart rate was 82 beats a minute, which indicates hotness. Master Kim
asked her to try to speak and he found that her mouth and lips were
moving just fine but the air was not coming out. He thought her left
frontal lobe had caused a problem and gave her treatment as follows.
295
Table 6-83 A case of Treating Mutism by quenching organs
No. Organs Foster WATER Point Subdue FIRE Points
1 Kidney KI10 -
2 Heart - HT8
3 Bladder - BL60
4 Gallbladder - GB38
After the first treatment the heart rate went down from 82 beats a
minute to 70, which is normal and her head ache was gone.
With the second treatment, all pains including chest pain went away.
With the fifth treatment, she could speak.
Points from No. 1 to No. 3 were to utilize Ascetic Saahm’s formula
#3, quenching organs but it was modified.
Subduing GB38 is to quench the Gallbladder because its BD passes
the frontal lobe and headache area. The other points were used to
stimulate the frontal lobe even more.
A three years old girl could not bite and she could only swallow
liquid food. She had never laughed, smiled, or spoken. Because she was
not respondive to calling her from behind, other people suspected that
she was deaf. She could barely walk for seven feet, by making a big
effort.
Because she was so young, Master Kim subdued only one point,
ST41, which is the FIRE point of the stomach. After a month of
treatments, she could bite and eat regular food and respond to calling
her from behind, which gave her parents peace of mind. She began to
smile. She was able to call her mother, “Mommy” for the first time at
age 3.
Let’s talk about a fact that those who are physically mute may have
problems with the parts of the human body required for speech (the
throat, vocal cords, lung, mouth, or tongue, etc.). I will describe all the
possible approaches.

Points at No. 1 through No. 4 are to complete Ascetic Saahm’s
formula #3, quenching the FIRE organs of the heart and small intestine
and fostering the WATER organs of the kidney and bladder.
Other points have been added because they have functions and BDs
that have paths on the problematic area, but some of them can be
omitted depending on the causes.
297
For those with a normal heart rate of from 61 to 79 beats a minute,
the previous quenching treatment could still be used. However, if you
are concerned that it might be too aggressive, you can utilize Ascetic
Saahm’s formula #1. Once again, fostering the lung and/or large
intestine is recommended as follows.
298
Now, let’s talk about selective mutism that refers to an anxiety
disorder in which people are unable to speak in situations causing
social anxiety, but are fluent in speech in more comfortable situations.
299
For those with normal heart rate (from 61 to 79 beats a minute),
quenching as mentioned earlier in Table 6-86 Treating Mutism by
quenching organs (Page 299) could still be used. However, if you are
concerned that it might be too aggressive, utilizing Ascetic Saahm’s
formula #1 would be appropriate. Once again, fostering the lung and/or
large intestine is recommended as below.
Those with a cold heart rate (60 or fewer beats a minute), might be
able to be helped by fostering the lung or large intestine as above.
However, seeing a KOSA acupuncturist would be recommended.
300
Treatment of akinetic mutism due to severe frontal lobe injury would
have to be done by manipulating organs which have BDs that pass the
frontal lobe.
301
For those with a normal heart rate of from 61 to 79 beats a minute,
quenching shown in the earlier Table 6-88 Treating Akinetic Mutism
by utilizing quenching organs (Page 301) could still be used. However,
if you are concerned that it might be too aggressive, utilizing Ascetic
Saahm’s formula #1 would be appropriate. Once again, fostering the
lung and/or large intestine is recommended as follows.
For those with the indication of coldness, with a heart rate 60 or less
beats a minute, the above Ascetic Saahm’s formula #1, fostering the
lung and/or large intestine might still be able to be used. However, for
the best treatment, a KOSA acupuncturist needs to be sought.
302
6.50 Osteoporosis
The kidney is in charge of the bones. Thus, making the kidney
healthy would be able to take care of this disease if one's diet is
balanced and appropriate.
For those with a hot heart rate of 80 or more beats a minute, utilizing
Ascetic Saahm’s formula #3 to quench the kidney as follows would be
appropriate.
For those with a cold heart rate of 60 or fewer beats a minute, the
above treatment utilizing Ascetic Saahm’s formula #1 would also work.
However, a KOSA acupuncturist would be a better option for treatment.
303
6.51 Pain
The following are the abstracts from Wikipedia xlix.
Pain is "an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated
with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such
damage." It is the feeling common to such experiences as stubbing a
toe, burning a finger, putting iodine on a cut, and bumping the "funny
bone".
Pain motivates us to withdraw from potentially damaging situations,
protect a damaged body part while it heals, and avoid those situations
in the future. Most pain resolves promptly once the painful stimulus is
removed and the body has healed, but sometimes pain persists despite
removal of the stimulus and apparent healing of the body; and
sometimes pain arises in the absence of any detectable stimulus,
damage or disease.
There are theories with regards to Specificity, Pattern, Gate control,
Dimensions, Evolutionary and behavioral role, and Thresholds.
There are three different types of management of Medication,
Psychological and Alternative medicine.
In that alternative medicine part, it is described that pain is the most
common reason for people to use complementary and alternative
medicine. An analysis of the 13 highest quality studies of pain
treatment with acupuncture, published in January 2009 in the British
Medical Journal, concluded there is little difference in the effect of real,
sham and no acupuncture.
Those researchers might have thought that they were studying the
highest quality acupuncture methods, but I totally disagree with them in
this regard. The acupuncture they used for the studies were probably
not the highest quality acupuncture.
If they knew KOSA, I believe the result of their research would have
come out differently.
KOSA treats most (if not all) pain as hotness, which has to be
quenched. Please refer to the section, 6.36 (Page 271) as well.
If you feel discomfort or pain when it is cold rather than in a warm or
normal environment, treatment might have to be heating rather than
quenching though.
If you feel coldness at a specific area, it might have been caused by
too much heat dissipation because it is really too hot. For this case,
quenching would have to be chosen rather than heating.
Organs have their own BDs, BDs’ branches, functions, and paired
organs. Once these parameters are considered, and quenching the
organs utilizing the BDs, BDs’ branches, functions, and paired organs,
not only will the pain would go away, but also the relevant organs
would be successfully treated and other health problems and/or
concerns would be taken care of at the same time.
.
Pain described in this section includes most cases of aching, asthenia,
cancer, cramps, infection, inflammation, itching, ineffectualness,
numbness, paralysis, spasm, swelling, tumor, and all other
uncomfortable feeling in the body, whether they are acute, chronic, dull,
or combined, and whether they involve blood vessel, bone, capillary
vessel, flesh, muscle, skin, tendon, tissue, or a combination , and
whether they are due to bruises, burns, cuts, injury, organ malfunctions,
pinching, or any combination of these.
305
A few examples illustrating how to deal with pain follow.
Although there is only one acupuncture point, KI1, on the sole of the
foot, there could be various treatments including the following.
306
6.51.5 Cramps or Menstrual pain
307
6.51.7 Low back pain
Low back pain one inch or more away from the spine might still be
caused by a problem with the spine. In this case, the earlier treatment
would be a good one. If this does not work and the pain is located
across the BDs of the bladder and gallbladder, the following treatment
would have to be applied. If the low back pain involves the spine,
subduing GV1 and/or GV14 would also have to be considered.
308
6.51.8 Pain on radius of arm
Even if the radius has been cracked, KOSA treatment would lessen
the pain effectively, and help it heal earlier than expected. Because
there are four BDs which pass the radius closely, quenching those
responsible organs would be as follows.
309
6.51.9 Toothache (Odontalgia)
The following table describes which organs have BDs and BDs’
branches passing the mouth.
310
As a conclusion for treating pain, the following rules are applied.
• Subdue the FIRE point and foster the WATER point of the organs
which have paths and branches that pass the problematic area.
Fostering the WATER points could be omitted.
• Subdue the FIRE point and foster the WATER point of the organs,
which are paired with the above organs. Fostering the WATER
points could be omitted.
• Subdue the FIRE point and foster the WATER point of the organs,
which have functions related to the problem, like liver for muscle
and tendon, large intestine for skin, kidney for bone, and so on.
Fostering the WATER points could be omitted.
311
6.52 Prostatitis
The bladder, kidney, and liver are the organs directly related to this
disease.
312
Fostering the bladder
313
Fostering the large intestine
For those with a cold heart rate of 60 or less beats a minute, a KOSA
acupuncturist would better be sought.
314
6.53 Rhinitis
In oriental medicine, the nose is the door of the lung. Thus, making
the lung healthy would treat the rhinitis successfully.
Organs with BDs and BDs’ branches that pass the nose are the large
intestine, stomach, small intestine, and bladder.
For those with a hot heart rate of 80 or more beats a minute, utilizing
Ascetic Saahm’ formula #3, quenching the lung would be used as
follows.
315
Table 6-101 Treating Rhinitis by utilizing fostering the lung
No. Organ Foster EARTH Points Subdue FIRE Points
1 Spleen SP3 -
2 Lung LU9 LU10
3 Heart - HT8
4 Large Intestine - LI5
5 Stomach - ST41
6 Bladder - BL60
Points at No. 1 through No. 3 are to complete Ascetic Saahm’s
formula #1, fostering the lung. For the rest of the points, please refer to
the previous description in quenching the lung.
Although treatments have been classified based on the heart rate, this
would help you make an accurate decision.
316
6.54 Sinusitis
For a hot heart rate of 80 or more beats a minute, the treatment below
would be used.
317
6.55 Tinnitus & Difficulty in Hearing
A few years ago, I was having dinner with a coworker of mine in a
restaurant and he told me he had difficulty in hearing. Because I always
carry magnets with me, I taped a magnet on his left KI2, which was to
subdue the FIRE point of the kidney. The next morning, he told me an
interesting story.
As soon as he woke up, he turned the TV on, and found the volume
was too high. He realized his hearing had gotten better. When he turned
that TV off the night before, he had set the volume high enough to hear
as usual, but with his better hearing, it was now too loud for him.
318
You could start with quenching the kidney only, because many
people have a deficient and/or hot kidney, and one of the kidney’s
functions is to take care of the ear or hearing.
There are four organs related to tinnitus as following. This has been
clinically found so far.
• Kidney: The shrill chirrup of a cicada, Thin and weak, or High
pitch tone, and requires treatment for a long period of time
• Bladder: Noise like in an airplane
• Triple Energizer: a Flames’ noise, Sound of a heart beat, or an
echo
• Small intestine: Unclear hearing
• Gallbladder: Sound of a steel ball's rolling on a tray with head
movement
Utilizing the table for difficulty in hearing would work for treating
tinnitus.
319
6.56 Urinary Retention (Incontinence) and Urinary
Tract Infection
Organs related to this disease are the kidney, bladder, and
reproductive organs.
Environment
Most medicines or drugs have side effects, and using them always
involves compromising with side effects. In addition to that, the way
they work is based on the theory that they should always be used more
in a greater quantity than is necessary, and the extra might harm you.
321
I happened to be told by a KOSA member about a gentleman who
was born in the United Kingdom. When he was sixteen years old, he
had a stomach ache. His physician gave him a prescription. Taking pills
took care of stomach ache and since the incident; he began to have a
very annoying skin disease. When they met, he had had the skin
problem for 38 years. His symptom did not even have a name. What
would be the treatment for him? Yes, it was utilizing fostering the large
intestine with subduing the FIRE points of organs which have BDs and
BDs’ branches that pass the problematic area, including the kidney and
liver for detoxification. About ten minutes later, his skin color started to
change, enough for the people there to notice that the areas were getting
better. Unfortunately, that was the first and last treatment by KOSA.
Three years later, he was found to have bladder cancer and died soon
after the cancer was found. I believe that he would never have had
bladder cancer if he had continuously taken KOSA treatment, not to
mention the benefit for his skin disease.
There are so many articles out there saying they are safe as long as
the amount used, consumed or absorbed is less than a certain value. Do
they ever do research based on the fact that all chemicals and toxins can
be combined?
When you are young and healthy, you might feel safe just because
you don’t have noticeable symptoms, since your body is tolerant of
those maximum safe limits. But, if you think you have health concerns,
you might want to avoid even toothpaste, which has been mentioned in
the sections, 1.5.5 Five Elements – Manifestation (Page 28) and 6.43
Lupus (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus or SLE) (Page 284).
Natural
Venom of snakes and scorpions are poisonous and they are natural.
Thus, being natural does not necessarily mean something is safe.
It is my opinion that if a raw material is chemically processed, like
vegetable oils from corn and soy beans, it is not natural anymore.
Milk
322
Salt
As described in the first part of this book, salt is associated with the
WATER element, and is supposed to help the large intestine and/or
lung in addition to the WATER organs, the kidney and bladder. Most
of the salt you find in restaurants and supermarkets is chemically
processed and has very little other minerals. I am wondering if the
chemical used to process salt would has been totally removed from the
salt products you get.
Food
Hippocrates (460 - 377 B.C.) said "Let thy food be thy medicine."
As described in the first part of this book, beef, milk, and dairy
products are associated with the EARTH element and heat up our
organs. They might be excellent food for the world's poor, but they
would harm people who already have health problems due to diseases
caused by hotness.
Years ago, in a bookstore, I met a Buddhist nun who had lots of acne
on her face. I could not help but ask her if she had a problem with her
bowel movements. She was much surprised by my question and she
answered “How did you know it?”
I have described many times in this book that when you have skin
disease you’d better avoid the food with EARTH characteristics. In
addition to that, you might want to avoid all meat and be a vegetarian
for awhile until your skin problems stabilize or are healed by a
recovered large intestine.
Just being vegetarian alone would hardly be sufficient to take care of
skin problems. I don’t know if you know that most Buddhist monks
and nuns are vegetarians. Even though she was a vegetarian, she still
had severe acne and problem with her bowel movements. Nevertheless,
if you have health concerns, becoming a vegetarian would help you
greatly.
No matter how good KOSA or any medicine is, unless you change
your diet, your skin problem would not go away easily.
323
Water
The kidneys have a limited capacity, and drinking too much water
could lower the kidneys’ effectiveness. Drink a glass of water with an
empty stomach, and monitor any heart rate changes. Drinking liquids
too much could overwork your organs, especially the stomach. Try not
to consume any liquids for 30 minutes right before a meal, during the
meal and for 2 hours after the meal. It will give much less of a burden
to your stomach and, sometimes, you could even lose weight this way.
Try to consume liquids only when you are thirsty. Please remember
that feeling thirsty might be just because of your habitual drinking, and
your body might not be in need of water.
Physical therapy
Family History
When you visit your doctor’s office, you are required to describe
your family history.
Doctor Mintz’s blog liii reads; first, the number of patients with
diabetes in the United States has increased. The study quotes 14
million diabetics in 2000 which increased to 19 million in 2007.
Thomas Smith’s web site liv reads; Diabetes, which had a per capita
incidence of 0.0028% at the turn of the century, had by 1933, zoomed
1,000% to become a disease faced by many doctors. This disease was
destined to go on to affect half of our population and to incapacitate
almost 20% by the 1990's.
324
Wikipedia lv describes diabetes; for at least 20 years, diabetes rates
in North America have been increasing substantially. In 2010 nearly 26
million people had diabetes in the United States alone, and of those, 7
million people remained undiagnosed.
Nowadays, I find more and more people, even young people in their
forties who are awakened by their bladders, because they cannot hold
their urine. When they complain about it, they are usually told, “You
are absolutely normal and there are lots of people your age with similar
issues.”
‘Normal’ is described in the dictionary as ‘conforming to the
standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular; natural’. It
does not mean ‘median’ or ‘average’.
OK. You might be normal (in the sense of average), but I can
definitely tell you that you are not healthy. Being normal does not
satisfy the requirements for being healthy.
325
The following would be the minimum requirements to be told by
KOSA that you are healthy.
Conclusion
326
Although using needles would be more effective than the methods
explained in this book, these methods given here would still help you
greatly.
If you have a new pain location after the old location’s pain went
away or diminished, it would be understood as follows: the treatment
worked because the old location’s pain was so bad that new location’s
pain could not be felt at the same time.
Please measure your heart rate with an empty stomach frequently and
periodically (if you are getting treatment, compare the logs before and
after the treatment) and keep a record of it so that you know your own
health condition.
