HACKATHON THEME

“Our vision is for Singapore to be a Smart Na5on. A na5on where people live meaningful and
fulfilled lives, enabled seamlessly by technology, offering exci5ng opportuni5es for all” – PM Lee
Hsien Loong

Singapore has embarked on a vision of building a Smart Na3on to prepare itself for the digital
future. The country is leveraging on its small size, strong infrastructure and connec3vity and
investments in educa3on and R&D to drive this vision home. This is expected to result in bener
living standards, more opportuni3es for ci3zens and stronger communi3es.

“My Future Singapore: How do I make Singapore a Smart Nation in
my home, school and neighbourhood?”

We believe today’s children have an important role to play. The above theme for this hackathon is
aimed at empowering children to take an ownership role in bringing technology enabled solu3ons
to their homes, schools and neighbourhoods.

We want children to embrace technology as a powerful medium of expression and develop an
interest around it. With 65% of primary schoolers expected to do a job that’s not even invented
yet, encouraging children to develop a lifelong interest in technology is a need that should be
addressed urgently.

Under this theme we will look for par3cipa3ng teams to choose problem statements and solu3ons
under three broad categories: Home, School and Neighbourhood.
