Chapter 1
Introduction
Nowadays fire is one the most destructive events because it can cause
big damage to property or structure as well as can cause loss of lives. It is
important to become aware and ready if the fire occur. Most of the fire incident,
occur due to lack of equipment like fire extinguisher and most of the houses has
no equipment like fire equipment due to high cost. The Bureau of Fire Protection
(BFP) required each house to have fire extinguisher in order to become ready if
the fire occur. Fire extinguisher has the capability to eliminate fire in order the fire
not to spread in the other houses.
Due to high cost of fire extinguisher most of the people has not enough
money to buy that equipment. People thinking that if they buy fire extinguisher it
is not worth due to limited use of it. Most of the people being practical instead
buying fire extinguisher, the expenses money will put in their personal need in
daily lives.
Abstract
Different sets of test will conducted first the mixture will be done to test for
the amount of ratio needed for the mixture of fire extinguisher. The second test
aims to find the capability of homemade fire extinguisher to extinguish fire; the
researcher conducted a set of experiment. The setup is consist of Class A fire,
Class B fire, and lastly the Class C fire. Also the researcher would find the exact
amount of the ratio variables needed to produce fire extinguisher. The different
set of experiment, the researcher concluded that the fire extinguisher can
extinguish Class A, Class B, and Class C fires. The experimental fire extinguish
could not extinguish the Class A, Class B, and Class C fires. Therefore the
researcher will proves the experimental fire extinguisher has a capability to
extinguish different types of fires.
Statement of the problem
1. Is coconut tuba vinegar (Tiglium Linn) vinegar, baking soda, Chalk dust,
and powdered Egg can be a homemade fire extinguisher?
2. Is the ingredient is capable is extinguish different types of fire?
3. Determine if the spray can is the appropriate container for the mixture?
4. Is the homemade fire extinguisher can extinguish fire quickly?
5. Determine is the homemade fire extinguisher is cheaper than commercial
fire extinguisher?
Hypothesis
1. The mixture of Tuba vinegar (Tiglium Linn) vinegar, baking soda, Chalk
dust, and powdered Egg can produce a homemade fire extinguisher.
2. The ingredients has the capability to extinguish different types of fire.
3. The spray can be used a container for the mixture.
4. The homemade fire extinguisher can extinguish fire quickly
5. The homemade fire extinguisher has cheaper than commercial fire
extinguisher.
“Over 600 fire incidents in Metro Manila from Jan. to Feb. 2015 –BFP” GMA
Through this experiment one will learns the tips and technique in
producing homemade fire extinguisher and much more affordable fire
extinguisher from Tuba Vinegar (Tiglium Linn), baking soda, chalk dust, and
powdered egg shell. If done excellently an effective fire extinguisher is made with
less expense compared to commercial ones.
This study will conducted in St. Anne College Inc. (SACLI). The study is
only focus producing homemade fire extinguisher from Tuba vinegar (Tiglium
Linn), baking soda, chalk dust, and powdered eggshell. The result product is only
focus the specific fire it can extinguish. In testing the effectiveness of the fire
extinguisher the researcher uses different concentration on materials to
determine the exact ratio of ingredients for the fire extinguisher. The researcher
uses different types of fire namely Class A fires involving solid materials such as
wood, paper or textiles, Class B fires involving flammable liquids such as petrol,
diesel or oils, Class C fires involving gases, Class D fires involving metals, Class
E fires involving live electrical apparatus. This study will last in April 31, 2018.
