“Sociological perspectives in Health Care Delivery in India”.

Date : January 9, 2011 (Sunday) at 9 30 am.

Venue : The V D Swami’s Auditorium( 7th floor), Research Building,

Sankara Nethralaya,18 College Road, Chennai 600 006.

Objectives:
To enhancing the knowledge of Sociology within the field of health and health care delivery
in our country.

Faculty:

The Sankara Nethralaya Academy will bring together galaxy of sociologists/journalists/

Medical and Paramedical Professionals who are breathing for the health care delivery in our
country.

The following experts have agreed to be part of the workshop.

1. Dr Philomina Mariadass : Dean, Academy of Medical Science, and Head of the dept.

of Medical Sociology, Madras Medical Mission, Chennai.

2. Dr Nalini Bala, Professor of Sociology and former director of directorate of

distance education, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai.

3. Smt Sudha Umashankar, Freelance Journalist and Former President of Rotary Club

of Ambattur.

4. Dr.J.Amalorpavanathan, Reader, in Vascular Surgery, Madras Medical College and

Vascular Surgeon, Government General Hospital, Chennai as Convenor, Cadaver

Transplant Program, Govt. of Tamil Nadu.

5. Dr A Karuppiah, Prof and Head, Dept. of Sociology, University of Madras, Chennai.

 6. Dr J Josephine Little Flower, Registrar, Tamil Nadu State Nursing Council, Chennai.

2. Enhancing the knowledge on Health Care Public Relations – Role and Responsibility of

PROs in Health Care Sectors.

plan.

4. Effects of Globalization on Health Care Delivery.

5. Rural Health Care Programs in India.

6. Sociology of Nursing.
