Topic : Start Up
OCIUS is a separate programme that will run side by side with your till. When the credit card
function is activated a number of screens will pop up over your till face. Simply follow the
instructions to complete the transaction

1.
When you first start up the till double click this icon

This box will appear. Select start communication by pressing ENTER on
your keyboard

Enter your log in ID and press ENTER

4.
Enter your pin number and press ENTER

5.
Check for Updates? Press 2 for No unless you
have been advised otherwise.

This symbol will appear in the far right hand corner


of your task bar.

You can now log into the till as normal. If you have forgotten to start up Ocius before starting
up Xpos you can minimize the window using the icons in the top right hand corner
Then start the process as per page 3

Complete the sale as normal selecting the credit card option on your till. When you have
confirmed the amount the message below will appear at the bottom of the screen

Press ENTER for a standard credit card payment

On the left hand side of the till this message


will appear.

If you want to cancel at this point click the


Cancel Card

When this message appears prompt your customer to


insert their card into the credit card machine

When the card has been in-


serted correctly this screen
will appear.
The terminal will tell the
customer ‘processing please
wait.’

This screen will be seen on the till.


On the credit card terminal it will ask the customer to input their
pin number.
Once this message appears the customer has 60 seconds in
which to enter their pin and press enter. If they run out of time
the message below will appear on the till and the customer must
remove their card and the whole process from choosing the ten-
der type should start again.

When the transaction is complete this message will pop up


on the till. The customer will get the same message on their
credit card terminal.

The first of 3 receipts will now be printed. 1 for


you and 2 for the customer. Before entering to
continue check that your copy has come through
OK. If not F2 to re-print. ENTER to continue

Check that the customer receipt has printed OK and


either re-print or continue.
The 3rd receipt will then be printed

If there is a problem with the receipt and you have


entered through without checking please advise
your supervisor immediately - see page 18

If you choose to re-print you have the option to re-print to


the current receipt printer or 2 file ( a text document will be
sent to your c:\ . A folder will need to be activated)

Opposite are the 2 card


receipts. The first receipt
printed is your copy, the
Merchant receipt. The 2nd is the
Customer Card Holder Receipt
The 3rd receipt is the standard
till also for the customer.

Ring the sale through as before choosing the credit card option as tendering type.

When the above message appears choose CASH for the cash back option by
pressing the on the till

The above message appears at the bottom of


the screen. Enter the cash back amount re-
quired and press ENTER then ENTER again

In this instance the wtg for authorisation will


have the purchase price as well as the cash back
amount required.

At this point the terminal will go through


the same procedure as seen before.

The total amount shown will be the total of


the purchased items plus the cash back
required

When the transac-


tion has been com-
pleted the cash back
amount can be seen
under CHANGE

Remember to get the customer


to initial the cash back that you
have issued as proof that they
have received it. This receipt is
their copy in case of dispute.

Process the sale through as normal selecting the credit card payment

Press F1

The standard awaiting authorisation code is displayed

Currently this box will appear. Ignore the


insert swipe card message.

Select ENTER for Keyed Txn

In the next release of OCIUS software you


will not see this screen. It will take you
straight through to the card number entry

Using the till keypad enter the customer card number


and press ENTER

Enter the expiry date without any


spaces ENTER

The next set of questions are to


enable security checks to be ran
against the card holder

Enter the customers house number and press ENTER

Enter the customers post


code without spaces and
ENTER

If you are using a touch screen the letter A acts as a toggle between
numbers and letters similar to writing a text message. For example
NG10 would be:
5 - A twice (N) 3 - A once (G) 1 0
N is the second letter listed on number 5
G is the first letter on number 3

Enter the last 3 digits displayed on the back of the


card and ENTER

An authorisation code will be issued which will also be printed out on your merchant
receipt

Now print the receipts off checking each one has printed correctly before continuing.

Topic : Refunds

To issue a refund process through the till as normal (see till manual) selecting REFUND
and the credit card for tender type

You will need to input a refund pin number


9999 and ENTER

Ask the customer to insert their


card. The credit card terminal
will advise them that the card is
be processed

Ask the customer to remove the card. The same message will
appear on the credit card terminal. On refunds the customer
pin number is not required as the system requires a signature
instead.

Ask the customer to sign the Merchants receipt and check


the signature before entering to confirm and continue.

The refunds transaction is now complete

Topic : Voice Activation

Occasionally you may have this message appear. This


could either be that the credit card system has gone
down or that the customer may have used the card in
a slightly unusual manner. The bank may also just
carry out random checks.

Advise the customer and give them the choice to either


abort and choose a different method of payment or
you can call the bank on the number provided for an
authorisation code

To abort ESC and the VOID receipt will be


printed

You will then be taken back to the till to com-


plete the sale using a different tender type or a
different credit card.

If the customer would like to continue with their current credit card call the bank on the
telephone number provided. Once you have got through to the operator you will be asked
some questions before being asked to hand over the phone to the customer. The customer
will be asked some security questions. Once the bank is satisfied the phone will be returned
to you and you will be issued an authorisation code

Now press ENTER to continue

Enter the code in the pop up and press


ENTER

The customer will need to sign the Merchant


copy. Check the signature against the card and if
your happy with the signature ENTER to confirm.
Continue and print the customers 2 receipts

If the card is declined the opposite message will


appear. Receipts will then be printed clearly marked
DECLINED for yours and the customers records

When returning back to the till this


message will appear. ENTER to OK
through and clear the message then
choose a different tender type or use a
different credit card.

The Customer has 3 attempts to in put the correct pin number. If on the 3rd attempt it is
still wrong the card will be locked and can only be unlocked by the bank.

If the customer removes the card too early after inputting their pin number the transaction
will also be declined. On each occasion a receipt will be printed for your records.

Reprint Customer Receipt

Should there be a problem with the customer receipt and the operator hasn't checked it
before moving on the following method must be used:
Please note that this will only work on the last sale taken

Minimise the till and right click on the Ocius icon at the bottom of the screen.

Select View Terminal

From the Ocius Main Menu pop up


select Menu

2. for reprint

Enter

Then ESCAPE to take


you out of the menu

Now maximise the till


Select Re-Print on from the till menu
Select 5. Print Credit Card Receipt
