Prerequisites:

● An understanding of healthy habits from the health unit and 4 prior lessons
○ Hand washing
○ My Plate
○ Heart Rate
○ First Aid

Key Vocabulary:

● The lesson will use vocabulary on all of the combined lessons from the unit

Content/Facts:

● The lesson will use all of the content/facts from the prior lessons from the unit

Introduction/Activating/Launch Strategies:

Hook: Put jeopardy up on the screen and ask the students if they know what game
this is.

Introduction:
● Tell the students that the game we will be playing is jeopardy
● Tell the students that the people at their tables are their team’s
● Ask the students to create a team name
● Explain the rules of jeopardy
○ When you play jeopardy, the team that is answering the question will
quietly discuss as a group which topic they want and how many points
they want to try to get in order to pick the question. Once the question
appears, all of the groups will quietly talk about what they think the
answer to the question is but only the group that is currently up will
answer the question. If the group currently going answers the question
wrong, the first group with their hand up will be able to try to answer
the question correctly. When the question is answered correctly, the
group will receive points. If there is a tie, there will be a final question
and whoever answers it correctly first will be the winner.
Development/Teaching Approaches

● Students will play jeopardy and the teacher will observe

● The group that's turn it is will discuss the topic they want and the amount of
points they are trying to get
● The students will answer the question after closely discussing it with their
group
● If the answer is wrong, the first group to raise their hand will be able to try to
answer the question for points
● After each question, teacher will ask for a thumbs up or thumbs down to
check the group’s understanding of the question and explain answers when
needed
● Teacher will keep track of each group’s points on the board

Closure/Summarizing Strategies:
● The teacher will say that we learned so much about healthy habits this unit.
We have learned how to wash hands, eat healthy, take our pulse, and
perform first aid.
● The teacher will give the students a final assessment, which is the unit test.
The unit test will be the exit slip. When the children are done, they may read
their independent reading book silently at their desk.

Accommodations/Differentiation:

Accommodation:
● For a student with ASD playing jeopardy can be over stimulating and loud.
Allow the child to wear headphones or sit in a more quiet calm area while the
game is being played.
Differentiation:
● Allow children who need extra time to answer the questions in jeopardy and
extra time to take the unit test.

Materials/Resources:
● Smartboard
