In accordance with the Educational Employment Relations Act and the operable provisions of our Collective Bargaining Agreement, the following represents SGTA’s public notice and “sunshine proposals” on negotiations for our successor contract. Please include this notice on the March 14, 2018 board agenda At this time SGTA designates the following articles for bargaining as follows: Article Il: Association Rights - Update current contact language regarding access to member contact, information and new member orientation meetings, consistent with AB 119. Article VI: Leave Provisions ~ Update language to reflect current District leave practices and bargaining unit member rights, consistent with state statue (i.e. parental leave, child bonding leave). Article Vil: Hours of Work — Update other duties and clarify language relating to testing and proctoring, Add language pertaining to terms and conditions of work for those members who participate in science camp. Update language regarding scheduling of faculty, department, grade level meetings, and professional development. Update language pertaining to overload assignments. Update language and compensation regarding substitute assignments. Add language to support more time for collaboration between special education teachers and general education teachers given anticipated move to full inclusion. Add language to support more time for review, modification, and scaffolding of assignments between special education teachers and general education teachers given anticipated move to full inclusion. ‘Article IX: Evaluation ~ Amend current language regarding the frequency of evaluation for permanent unit members who have been employed for at least ten years, are highly qualified, and whose previous evaluation was rated satisfactory in all areas from at least every three years to at least every five years. nea Article XIll: Class Size ~ Update current class size language to take into consideration anticipated move to special education full inclusion, distribution of special education students across general education classrooms, distribution of EL learners, needs of all students, and optimal learning environment. Article XV: Safety ~ Discuss and update language accordingly regarding member safety concerns, especially given the recent tragedy that occurred in Parkland, Florida Article XVI: Teacher Support Programs ~ Update language to provide bargaining unit members greater input in the selection of professional development. Article XVII: Salary Schedules and Rules - Negotiate an across the board wage increase for all bargaining unit members effective July 1, 2018, and in future years. Explore structural improvements to current bargaining unit employee salary schedules. Update compensation and procedures pertaining to stipends. Update current contract language accordingly. Article job Sharing — Update language to reflect current District practices. Article XXI: Duration ~ Update current contract language accordingly. New Article ~ Retiree Medical Benefit - Add new article to include retiree medical benefit.
