Calculation of a concrete foundation for metallic pillar (F1), acc.

NP 112-2013 and SR EN 1997-1:

→ Foundation type concrete block and bearing

FOUNDATION SOIL TYPE:

- Polygenic gravel with a greyish-gray bonding mass

1. PREDIMENSIONING
• Establishing the depth of foundation (acc. Annex C):
Hinghet = 100 cm - for PLOIESTI
Df,min=Hi+10cm = 110 cm - acc. Table C.1
Df = 1,2 acc. to Geotechnical Study

• Predimensioning conditions of the bearing according NP112-2013:

- the hight of the bearing will accomplish the minimum values:

• h c ≥ 300 mm => hc = 800 mm
≥ 0,25 => lc = 600 mm => = 1,3

• tgβ ≥ 0,65 = = 2,286

• if tgβ ≥1,0 then it is no longer necessary to check the bearing at the shear force;
→ The proposed size of the concrete bearing:
lc = 600 mm
bc = 600 mm
hc = 800 mm

• Predimensioning conditions of the concrete block according NP112-2013:

• H ≥ 400 mm
• tgα = => acc. Table II.4

tgα = 1,3 => H = 390 mm

=> we will choose H= 500 mm

• for a concrete block with one step: = 0,50 ÷ 0,65 and = 0,50 ÷ 0,65

• for a concrete block with more steps: = 0,40 ÷ 0,50 and = 0,50 ÷ 0,65

=> L= 923 ÷ 1200 mm => L = 1200 mm

=> B= 923 ÷ 1200 mm => B = 1200 mm

2. CALCULATION OF THE CONVENTIONAL PRESSURE:

pconv = pconv 2.0m + CB + CD
pconv 2.0m = 300 kPa – the basic amount of the conventional pressure of the ground;
↘ correspond to conventional pressures for foundations with the sole width B=1,0m and
the foundation depth from the system ground level D = 2,0 m.
CB – width correction;
CD – depth correction;

2.1 Calculation of the width correction

• For B ≤ 5m the width correction will be:
CB = pconv 2.0m * K1 * (B-1);
K1 = 0,1 - for non-cohesive soils;
B = 1200 mm - foundation width;
CB = 6

2.2 Calculation of the depth correction

• For D ≤ 2m: CD = pconv 2.0m *

• For D > 2m: CD = γ * (D-2)

D = 1,2 m
γ = volumetric weight of the layers above foundation level (calculated as a weighted
average with the thickness of the layers).
CD = -60
→ pconv = 246 kPa
