In Foundation to Year 2, learning in The Arts builds on the Early Years Learning Framework. Students
are engaged through purposeful and creative play in structured activities, fostering a strong sense of
wellbeing and developing their connection with and contribution to the world. (ACARA, 2018)
Students have a basic knowledge of how to use materials and utensils associated with the visual arts.
Students have prior knowledge of places unique to their environments e.g. school playground, back
yard.
Safe Practices – Students have an understanding of how to move safely around the room and while
using art materials

Lesson Overview
In this lesson the students will be creating an ‘impressionist’ style painting of the student’s playground
or a feature in the playground.
