Brief Description of the International Conference on Asean Buddhist Youth 2018

As part of the strategic social and world peace while preserving the cultural life of citizens,
the International Conference on Asean Buddhist Youth 2018 (ICABY 2018) will be held in
Yogyakarta. With the theme of "Fostering World Peace Among Religious Community ",
This three-day program will be a platform for Religious community, Government, NGOs,
and Young Generations from asean countries to share ideas and growing exchanges and
interactions between religions and a stronger trend towards religious diversity are
bringing about new opportunities and challenges to religious relations.

The objective if this conference is to (i) Promoting Buddhist youth in practicing peace in their
own communities and beyond. (ii) Challenging their thinking through diverse perspectives.
(iii) Together with cross religion figures promulgate the culture of peace and tolerance up
to the grassroots, and reinforce the tolerance between religions. (iv) Protecting the
harmony in bringing commonality an the harmony of the nation. (v) Arousing and warn
about tolerance in Indonesia and ASEAN, and the importance of diversity of clans, race,
religions, custom and cultures in order to bring up the culture of peace, tolerance, and
understanding across community. (vi) Bring up participants to become the ambassador of
peace and to become the role model for the world.

The Government of Yogyakarta, in association with the Asia Pacific Consultants for
Integrated Development, is inviting 120 selected young leaders to Participate in the ICABY
2018. The of participants will not only get involved in workshops and discussions with
prominent international speakers, home-stay and knowledge sharing with the locals in
Yogyakarta, and networking dinner with Religious Community and Stakeholders. The
agenda is arranged to Ensure all of participants are sufficiently equipped with the
experience of both villager and community in order to become world peace ambassadors
in their respective countries.

In order to assist the of participants in the program, The Alana Yogyakarta will cover:

1. Hotel, meals, and accommodation

2. Transportation from and to airport and the venue in Yogyakarta

Participants' Eligibility

You are what the committee is looking for if you:

1. Must be ASEAN Buddhist Youth

2. Are 17-30 year old
3. Are passionate in peace development.
4. Have understanding about tolerance, peace development, interfaith dialogue and
community development
5. Fall under one of these categories:
a. University students who have understanding on;
 Promoting practicing Buddhist youth in peace in their own communities and
beyond
 Promoting the culture of peace and tolerance up to the grassroots, and
reinforce the tolerance between religions.
 Arousing and warn about tolerance in Indonesia and ASEAN, and the
importance of diversity of Clans, races, religions, customs and cultures in
order to bring up the culture of peace, tolerance, and understanding across the
community.
