Neville Goddard: Correct Prayer

A collection of quotes(although every word he says is gold)on Correct Prayer;

bringing goals into existence. Very compatible with releasing.

The steps are in no particular order.

States

Now you must move from the desiring state to the state where the desire has been
granted

If, tonight, you have a desire, it can be yours if you learn how to move.

Somewhere within your soul there is a mood which, when found, means wealth, health
and happiness to you.

You can move into many states and play many parts, but as the actor, you do not
change your identity. When you are rich, you are the same actor as when you are
poor. These are only different parts you are playing.

Learn how to move from a warring state into a state of peace. Then rest in it
saying, Let it be and watch it come into being. When he asked, Have I learned
anything? I nodded and said, Yes, you learned how to move and discipline.
Discipline is simply becoming discriminating. It does not matter what your desire
may be; it is only a state. When you learn how to move you can enter any state and
say, Let it be and the state will become luminous; it will become real in your
world

Now you must go beyond the name and literally become the desire by no longer
saying I am desiring, but I am experiencing the state now.

You must persist in wearing the feeling of fulfilment until it becomes natural and
normal. Reason may deny your thoughts and your senses deny their truth, but if you
persist it will externalize itself and be made real relative to you.

Enter into the state and not simply think of the state. Thinking from it differs
from thinking of it. I must learn to think from it. A man who this night came into
a million dollars, from that moment that man is made aware that he has a million,
when prior to that he had nothing. He is thinking from the consciousness of having
a million dollars. He is not thinking of it; he is walking in the consciousness of
having a million dollars. Hes not hoping for it, wishing for it; he is actually in
it.

Everything is a state which is real, yet invisible. Not knowing this, and seeing
no evidence to support your desired state, you may return to the former one.
Expecting the new state to happen now, you dont remain faithful to it. But if you
will remain there until it becomes natural to think from that state, it will be
born in your world. There is a period of time between your entrance into the
invisible state and its visibility, and it has to come. Everything has an interval
of time. The vision has its own appointed hour. If it seems long, wait. It is sure
and it will not be late.

Meditation, Imagination, Assumptions & Sleep

You will know that this world is imaginal and that an assumption - with no
external object to support its truth - will harden into fact when its truth is
persisted in.

We create by faith, and faith is belief in the thing not yet seen.

A change of assumption is a change of expression.

Each man must find the means best suited to his nature to control his attention
and concentrate it on the desired state. I find for myself the best state to be one
of meditation, a relaxed state akin to sleep, but a state in which I am still
consciously in control of my imagination and capable of fixing my attention on a
mental object.

"Drowsiness facilitates change because it favours attention without effort. But it

must not be pushed to the state of sleep, for then you are no longer able to
control your movements. The most effective way to embody a desire is to assume the
feeling of the wish fulfilled and then, in a relaxed and drowsy state, repeat a
short phrase over and over again like a lullaby. Say, Thank you, thank you, thank
you, as though you were addressing a higher power, thanking him for giving you
your desire."

"Once asleep man has no freedom of choice. His entire slumber is dominated by his
last waking concept of self. It follows, therefore, that he should always assume
the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction before he retires in sleep."

"Your future is best changed when you control your thoughts while in a state akin
to sleep, for then effort is reduced to its minimum. In that state your attention
is relaxed, yet controlled within the feeling without being forced or using effort.
Imagination, not will power will create reality."

"With the body immobilized, feel the greater you come out of your physical body and
perform the proposed motion. If you are going to walk, do not see yourself do it,
but feel you are walking. If you are going to climb stairs, feel yourself
climbing."

You can play any part - be it a rich man or a poor man, a beggar or a thief, the
known or unknown - once you know they are only parts, only states of consciousness.
But if you don't know this, and are not willing to give up your present state, you
will remain there, looking at your desire and no from it. You can become what you
would like to be in the twinkle of an eye by the simple act of assumption.

Visualization

"Now, this is what I mean by spiritual sensation. Imagine that you are holding a
rose in your hand. Smell it. Do you detect the odour of roses? Well, if the rose is
not there, why is its fragrance in the air? Through spiritual sensation - that is -
through imaginal sight, sound, scent, taste and touch, you can give to the image
sensory vividness. If you do this, all things will conspire to aid your harvesting
and upon reflection you will see how subtle were the threads that led to your
goal."

"Never visualize yourself at a distant point in time and space. Make your action
take place here and now! The difference between feeling yourself act here and now
and visualizing yourself in action as though on a movie screen, is the difference
between success and failure."

I know of no clearer definition of the means by which we realize our desires than
to experience in the imagination what we would experience in the flesh were we to
achieve our goal.

The first step in changing the future is desire, that is, define your objective
know definitely what you want.

Secondly, construct an event which you believe you would encounter following the
fulfilment of your desire.

Thirdly, immobilize the physical body, and induce a condition akin to sleep by
imagining that you are sleepy. Lie on a bed, or relax in a chair. Then, with
eyelids closed and your attention focused on the action you intend to experience in
imagination, mentally feel yourself right into the proposed action; imagining all
the while that you are actually performing the action here and now.

You are all imagination and all things are possible to you! Dream big! Dream
often! Live In the end you desire!

Continuous Prayer & Revision

"Every moment of your life, consciously or unconsciously, you are assuming a

feeling."

Have a set, definite aim or your mind will wander, and wandering it eats every
negative suggestion."

"After you have assumed the feeling of the wish fulfilled, do not close the
experience as you would a book, but carry it around like a fragrant odour. Instead
of being completely forgotten, let it remain in the atmosphere communicating its
influence automatically to your actions and reactions."

"Saturate your mind with one sensation and walk as though your desire were already
a fact."

"Recognizing the power of feeling, pay strict attention to your moods and
attitudes."

What you are inwardly saying and doing is far more important than what you
outwardly express, and can be changed. If you have never uncritically observed your
reactions to life, then you are unaware of its cause. But when you become conscious
of your thoughts, you can change them.

"Mastery of self-control of your thoughts and feelings-is your highest achievement.

However, until perfect self-control is attained so that in spite of appearances you
feel all that you want to feel, use sleep and Prayer to aid you in realizing your
desired states. These are the two gateways into the subconscious."

In the evening, review all the episodes, events, conversations and meetings of
your day. As you recall them, rewrite those you wish changed. This is done by
revising the event, conversation or meeting. Revise each scene until it becomes so
real you feel you are actually experiencing it. You will discover that, as you
revise your days, your tomorrows change. People, who disappointed you today, will
encourage you tomorrow, because you have changed their nature. Having changed the
seeming other, he will bear witness to the change which took place in you."

Removal of Negativity, Lack & Rearrangement

Never accept the suggestion of lack.

The world is only response.

You change your mind and stay in that changed state until it unfolds.

Wine is needed for the guests and my senses tell me that there is no wine, and I
through habit am about to accept this lack as final. When I remember that my
consciousness is the one and only reality, therefore if I deny the evidence of my
senses and assume the consciousness of having sufficient wine, I have in a sense
rebuked my mother or the consciousness which suggested lack; and by assuming the
consciousness of having what I desire for my guests, wine is produced in a way we
do not know.

"An uncritical observation of our inner talking will reveal to us the ideas from
which we view the world."

"Take yourself in hand and uncritically observe your thoughts and reactions to
life. Don't condemn your thoughts, but subdue them."

You can consciously and deliberately change your attitude and in so doing, change
your world. If you do, you are controlling your fate.

Feeling

There is a definite feeling associated with every idea in the mind of man."

"Feeling is the one and only medium through which ideas are conveyed to the
subconscious. Therefore, the man who does not control his feeling may easily
impress the subconscious with undesirable states. By control of feeling is not
meant restraint or suppression of your feeling, but rather the disciplining of self
to imagine and entertain only such feeling as contributes to your happiness."

Simply catch the feeling that you have it and sustain that feeling. Persist in
acknowledging the joy of fulfilment.

Life of Abundance and Happiness

During the course of a day I may imagine many things, but instead of imagining
lots of small things, I would suggest that you imagine something so big it includes
all the little things. Instead of imagining wealth, health and friends, imagine
being ecstatic. You could not be ecstatic and be in pain. You could not be ecstatic
and be threatened with a dispossession notice. You could not be ecstatic if you
were not enjoying a full measure of friendship and love. What would the feeling be
like were you ecstatic without knowing what had happened to produce your ecstasy?
Reduce the idea of ecstasy to the single sensation, "Isn't it wonderful!" Do not
allow the conscious, reasoning mind to ask why, because if it does it will start to
look for visible causes, and then the sensation will be lost. Rather, repeat over
and over again, "Isn't it wonderful!" Suspend judgment as to what is wonderful.

Sorry I didn't see that last post, I only saw it when I linked to it from another
thread.

Bit late now in replying, but I was making a longer post for the releasing
encylopeadia and my own collection which I do to weed out the unecessary/repeating
parts, but I'll put some of it here as it ties in with releasing pretty well and I
have a better understanding now. Anyone reading correct me if I'm wrong on any of
this, I'm always open to other people's understandings. Here's my view : The basic
idea is thinking from a state is when you're experiencing it as close to reality as
you can. There'll be a doubt because it's not in physical manifestation yet, but
the idea is that the close you can get to feeling as though it does exist, the more
likely and sooner it will manifest.

To simply think of it is just an image in your head. Thinking from it is

expereincing it as real. An example Neville uses is to imagine seeing yourself
climbing a ladder - which is thinking of it, and then imagine actually climbing it,
feeling the cold metal bars, your feet on the steps, your body moving, and actually
being there - which is thinking from it, and you apply it to whatever you want to
manifest.

With releasing, you can let go of anything that holds you back from having it. This
is the idea of CAP calls, which aren't necessary but are in a similar fashion. "The
mind is creative - what you hold in mind you create". You let go of anything that
stops you being in a high state and one where you can imagine what you want without
any doubts, and are able to release any doubts that do arise. It's like a snowball
effect moving towards what's best. You release more effectively and easier the
higher your state. This ties in with the 1st step : You must want freedom more than
you want approval/control/security/the world. You're then focusing on being free of
whatever's holding you back, so you're moving towards the state of having your
goal/freedom and are letting go of the emotions/beliefs/wants holding you back.

Neville and Lester both advocate practicing the ability to let go/be non-
judgemental to emotions. Neville focuses more on feeling the state of having
already achieved you goal. He also points out that it;'s not about using force to
change, but letting go of 'lacking' feelings, and then placing your mind on what
you want. Lester says this too. They both also ask people to practice awareness of
your life, and if a behaviour or desire does not suit you, to bring up the
subconscious reason for it and let it go.

The ego holds people back, so by doing a process like the 5th way or meditating you
automatically shift towards the natural state where it doesn't require effort to
have goals manifest. I find either way works. Using any is beneficial. I can't say
which is better out of all the ways of doing it, but I know they work because I've
seen the results. It all comes together with practice and when you experience it,
it stays with you. I'm not myself able to get absolutely anything I want, I still
learn everyday, but it gets better and better.
