Dear Parents/Guardians,

My name is Melissa Eelman. I will be student teaching in your child’s classroom for the next
14 weeks. I have been in working with your child since September doing my advanced
practicum. As I will be in your child’s classroom daily now, I would like to take this opportunity
to introduce myself. I am a senior elementary education major at the University of Maine at
Farmington. I have been working with children since I was in middle school myself. I have had
experience in several classrooms observing and working with students from Kindergarten all
the way up through 6th grade. I have substitute taught in two school districts and I worked as a
camp counselor for 4 summers. I have enjoyed watching your child grow as a learner these
past few months and I am excited to continue to work with them.

Attached is a permission slip. If you could please fill it out, sign it, and return it to school with
your child as soon as possible, It would be greatly appreciated. Even if you signed one in
September for me, I need a new one signed for student teaching purposes.
