How to Print Documents at the UTC Library.

Welcome to The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, we are


so happy that you have chosen to pursue your future with us. Here at
UTC, we believe that the use of technology is important in being an
informed member of society in the 21st century. We believe that the use
of our most-used technology space, the library, will be beneficial in the
pursuit of your academic career.

This guide will help you set up your personal laptop to the
Library’s printing stations located throughout the building, as well as
provide you with basic knowledge of our library facility. However, if
you have any questions or need additional information please reference
the Library contact information listed below.

The library’s hours are subject to change each semester and with school
closings and delays. To check for changes to the hours and view special

Printing Locations and Printer Queue Names


The library offers many locations and options for you to choose from in
relation to where you choose to study:

Printing Costs and Payment Stations


Printing jobs cost:

- $0.07 per page for black and white


- $0.35 per page for color

To pay for your print job you must use your MocsCard (with available
printing funds) or a guest card at the MocsPrint station at each printer
location. Guest cards may be purchased on the 1st floor of the library for
$1.00 at the card vending machine.

To add funds to your MocsCard or Guest card, you can do so at the


vending machine on the first floor or through GET by logging in with
your MOCS ID and “Adding Funds” to your “Campus Points.”

NOTE: If you have not already received your up-to-date MocsCard or


need to update yours, visit the Mocs Card Services in the University
Center Room 141.

Glossary

UTC ID: each UTC student is assigned a six-digit identification used to


access information and complete assignments on campus and online.

Mocs ID: each UTC student is issued a identification card with the
students photo and UTC ID listed

Guest Card: a card that may be purchased for $1.00 at the card vending
machine located on the first floor, card is used to pay for printing at
Mocs Print Station

24/5 Zone: section of the library that remains open 24 hours a day, 5
days a week

Writing and Communication Center: service provided to UTC


students to help improve writing and offer tutoring for any paper writing
needs

MocsPrint Station: payment station located at each printing location,


accepts payment from MocsCard and Guest cards

MocsPrint Printer Installation Instructions

In order to print from your personal laptop at the UTC Library, you will
need to install MocsPrint, the library’s network printers. Instructions
will vary per operating system, but printer queues will remain identical.
Be sure that your computer’s host name is unique, to create an easy
identification at the MocsPrint station.

NOTE: Make sure you are connected to the UTC network before you
begin installation.

IMPORTANT: Following these steps will install the specified Printer


Queue to your personal laptop. In order to print at a different location,
you must install the other Printer locations to your personal laptop.

Windows 7/Vista:

1. Open your Control Panel and double click “Printer” window.


2. Click “Add a printer.”
3. Click “Add a network wireless, or Bluetooth printer.”
4. Click “The printer that I want isn’t listed.”

5. Click “Select a shared printer by name,” andenter


//goprint1.utc.edu/PRINTER_QUEUE. Refer to the “Printer Locations and
Printer Queue area for the appropriate queue. Type the queue name exactly as
shown. Click “Next.”
6. After the printer is found, click on “Install driver.”
7. If a “User Account Control” window pops up, Click “Continue.”
8. Choose whether you want to set the printer as your “Default Printer” and click
“Next.”
9. Click “Finish.”
10.You should now see the printer in the “Printer” window.

Windows 8/10:

1. On the keyboard, press Windows Key + R.


2. In the run box that appears, type: //goprint1.utc.edu/PRINTER_QUEUE.
3. Replace PRINTER_QUEUE with the printer queue name from the
“Printer Locations and Printer Queue Names” section.
4. Click OK>
5. If prompted, click Install Driver, and if prompted for administrator
permission, click OK.

Mac OS X:

1. Open the “System Preferences” window.


2. Click on “Print & Fax.” It might also say “Print & Scanners.”
3. Clock on the “+” sign on the left side of the window to add a printer.
4. In your new window, select the “IP” print option.
5. Set Protocol to “Line Printer Daemon – LPD.”
6. Set Address to the server IP to goprint1.utc.edu.
7. Set Queue to: the specific printer you want to print to. Refer to the
“Printer Locations and Printer Queue Names” section for the
appropriate Printer Queue. Type the queue name exactly as shown.
8. Set the Name and Location to something of your choosing to easily
identify the printer.
9. Set print using to “Generic PostScript Printer.”
10.Click “Add” to complete the installation.
