o Included forty hours a week, teaching and planning several different English Language Learners’ (ELL)
mathematics classes with my mentor teacher, Ernest Estrada.
o My focus class was Geometry, but I also taught Algebra I, and Algebra II.
o Gained extensive experience and practice with: student-centered unit and lesson planning, classroom
management techniques, using interactive whiteboard technology, methods of eliciting student thinking,
and scaffolding mathematical ideas and tasks to better suit diverse learners.
o Practiced cooperative group learning technique known as Complex Instruction.
o Practiced a variety of literacy techniques through the Reading Apprenticeship program and through
literacy based groupwork
