The IP address 192.168.8.1 is used to enter the Wi-Fi settings and change
the password on some Huawei modem and some computers that are used as
ADSL and Hotspot connection type. The form of access is entering from the
upper bar of typing of the navigator typing http://192.168.8.1/ and pressing
ENTER. When you do that you will be presented with a page that will prompt
you for a username and password.

The username for these computers is admin and the password is 1234. In
some cases also admin is used as user and password or sometimes only
asks for password being this admin. If you cannot access these credentials, it is
because some companies give you another password. In that case, you should
call your Internet service provider to get the correct password or see if the
username and password is sticked in the box, modem or any paper comes with
the accessory.

Another solution to problems with accessing the modem is by resetting it

in a hole in the back. Below image for an example:

Press the hole for several seconds and when the modem blinks all the lights
stop pushing it. This will cause the modem to return to its default settings. The
password and the name of the Wi-Fi network will change to their default
values equally and you will have to configure them again.
That username and password used to enter the modem are different from those
used for the Wi-Fi wireless network.

When you access 192.168.8.1 you will be presented with a page where you
should go to the Wi-Fi configuration. In which you will find the options to
change the password and the name of your Wi-Fi network.

 SSID Name is where you should put your Wi-Fi name. it can be your
name or anything else.
 WPA PresharedKey is your password for Wi-Fi.

For others, keep them same as in the image above.

If you cannot enter with 192.168.8.1 test also with 192.168.1.1, 10.0.0.1
or 10.0.0.2.
If it is a 2G, 3G or 4G modem the interface might look like the following:

Modems that use the default gateway 192.168.8.1

Some modem brands that use this default gateway are the Huawei B3000,
Huawei B660, Huawei B310, Huawei B68l-25, Huawei e5151 and Huawei B3l0s-

LTE Cat6 CPE ZTE MF286 VS Huawei E5186
With the evolution of the wireless network technology, more and more network
providers are trying to upgrade their LTE network to LTE cat6 advanced, so more and
more users demand LTE terminals to support the latest LTE advanced networks. Even
though, very few user equipment can meet the demand.
We had introduced the world’s the fist LTE Category 6 router Huawei E5186, now we
get the new LTE Cat6 gateway ZTE MF286. As ZTE’s first LTE Category 6 router, the
MF286 has many functions, even the appearance/interfaces design similar to LTE CPE
E5186, but it also many special features. Today, we will have a check the difference
between the two 4G LTE Routers.
Appearance

The ZTE MF286 and Huawei E5186 both looks like a common stationary wireless home
router, front indicators to show wireless connection status (Power, Wifi, Phone, 3G/4G,
Battery, Signal), side gridding design to heat radiating, and interfaces (4 x RJ45 ports
for WAN/LAN, 2 x RJ11 ports for VoLTE and telephone, 1 x USB port for storage and
power adapter plug). And there are two connectors for external antenna in the two
routers but the connectors are covered by a small cap in case dust and water. And the
WPS button and reset hole line together. Of course, there is one SIM card slot in the
two routers.

Technical specifications

The two routers can work well with FDD & TDD LTE networks. As wireless gateways for
LTE Cat6, they both could achieve download speed to 300mbps and upload speed to
50mbps on LTE FDD networks. And the download speed could reach 112Mbps on TD-
LTE networks. If LTE network is not available, they can automatically switch to 3G
UMTS/WCDMA network or 2G GSM networks. And the peak download speed on 3G
network is 42Mbps.
ZTE MF286 and Huawei E5186 4G Router both could support the IEEE
802.11a/b/g/n/ac with dual bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz). Up to 64 devices could connect
to the MF286 and E5186 LTE CPE respectively. And they both support VoLTE function,
which is required and practical on the LTE Advanced network. The management of the
two routers can be done via the web UI. Users can do personal settings for Ethernet,
WLAN, VoIP, Security, Port Forwarding, MAC/LAN IP filter, DHCP, DMZ, SIP ALG,
UPnP, NAT settings etc in web UI.

But we can also see the difference between the two similar 4G Router:

1. The chipset of the Huawei E5186 is Huawei own Hisilicon Kirin while ZTE MF286 is
based on Qualcomm chipset Qualcomm WTR3925 (28nm process) and Qualcomm
MDM9230 (20nm process)
2. There is no battery in Huawei E5186, it can only work when connect to power
adapter. However, the ZTE MF286 has built-in battery with 3000mAh capacity,
which can support a conference call for up to 4 hours.
The two points should be the key difference between the two routers. Below are the
details comparisons for the two routers on features and specifications for reference:

ZTE MF286 4G LTE Cat6 Wireless Router Review
With the development of LTE network technology, more and more network providers
are trying to upgrade the network to LTE advanced with carrier aggregation. Then more
and more users are demanding for LTE Cat6 equipments so as to achieve possible fast
downlink and uplink speed. Finally, ZTE presents its first LTE category 6 wireless router
since Huawei had its LTE cat6 router E5186 and E5175 on sale for long time.

Built-in battery for Mobile Use

ZTE MF286 looks similar to the traditional wireless home router, but in this new router,
ZTE had designed a built-in battery so that users can not only use the MF286 as a
stationary router at home, but also take the MF286 router outdoor for mobile use. With
the 3000 mAh battery, ZTE MF286 can support a conference call for up to 4 hours or
share a 4G network for up to 3 hours. It can’t be taken in a pocket like ZTE MF970 LTE
Cat6 MiFi, but it’s useful for multiple devices’ network support.

High-speed 4G Connection

Like the Huawei 4G LTE Cat6 routers, ZTE MF286 can achieve peak download speed
to 300Mbps and upload speed to 50mbps on LTE networks. The speed is almost the
double of the current speed on LTE Cat4. If user downloads a movie of 1GB, it may only
take few seconds on this speed. ZTE MF286 Router can achieve this due to the
Qualcomm WTR3925 RF transceiver chipset based on the 28 nm process with the
Qualcomm MDM9230 modem based on the 20 nm processes. The new chipsets
perform better and consume less power than its predecessors.
Dual-band Wi-Fi and support for 802.11ac

Compare with the current home routers, ZTE MF286 CPE has almost the highest level
to support Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n/ac and 3 x 3 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)
technology with three spatial streams for maximum performance. It operates on both 2.4
GHz with great wall-penetration capabilities and 5 GHz with a lower chance of picking
up interference. The powerful gadget also supports gigabit wired connections so that it
is possible to copy files over a LAN at a speed higher than 80 MB/s.

In the test, ZTE MF286 proves to have good signal coverage; it can cover an office
larger than 500 square meters. The signal attenuation is not obvious even at a point far
from the device. Internet surfing is smooth, even in a meeting room separated by glass
doors.

High-Definition VoLTE Call

Conference calls are an indispensible part of business interactions. As a standard
feature for high-end wireless routers, ZTE MF286 supports advanced VoLTE voice
calls. You can connect it to a telephone or a conference hands-free telephone system to
get a much better call quality than regular telephone calls.

With 4 RJ-45 Ethernet ports, there is a USB port which connects a USB disk to share
pictures, files or videos among the users on the same WiFi network. As ZTE’s first 4G
LTE Cat6 router, the MF286 Router has many selling points which are practical for
users. But Huawei E5186 has been on the market almost one year ahead of ZTE
MF286, we can’t tell whether the MF286 will gain the trust from customers even though
Huawei E5186 CPE doesn’t have the battery.

Huawei E5170 LTE Cat4 Cube Review

Huawei had a series of web cube for wireless networks at home. The wireless cube
looks like a nice furniture rather than a wireless gateway. We had introduced the
Webcube B153(7.2Mbps), Webcube B183(21Mbps), Huawei E8259 Speed
box(42Mbps) before. Now we have a new 4G/LTE Speed box/Cube E5170.
Huawei E5170 is a powerful LTE (4G) router. The device is a combination of fixed and
mobile router, supporting a top speed of up to 150 Mbit/s for downloads (on LTE 4G).
Huawei e5170 Home Net Box is one of the fastest wireless routers available in the
market.
Built with a rechargeable battery and docking station, Huawei E5170 Home Net Box
basically consists of two parts: the current router with integrated modem and wireless
module for up to 32 wireless devices, as well as a docking station that provides the
router with power and also contains an RJ45 Ethernet LAN interface connection. The
special feature is the built-in battery for Huawei E5170, which allows wireless operation
for up to 2.5 hours without docking stations, as expected, the E5170 cube could be
working like a 4G mobile pocket router.
The configuration is usually through a web interface, so that the browser of any
terminals can do the setup. Configuration through the application of Huawei Mobile WiFi
is also possible. Huawei E5170 speed Box integrates a fast LTE modem which his
supports GSM, UMTS and LTE cellular standards. In the fourth generation, wireless
network could reach up to 150 Mbit/s for downloads and up to 50 Mbit/s for uploads due
to the use of LTE Category 4 technology. Using UMTS, the maximum speed for
downloads could achieve 42.2Mbit/s provided the network is equipped with DC-HSPA+
technology.
If coverage is poor, Huawei E5170 LTE Cube has two external antenna connectors for
LTE or UMTS. The connection would be much more useful for computers, tablets and
other devices via Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and browsing speed could reach up to 300 Mbit/s,
unfortunately, neither the 5 GHz band nor fast Gigabit 802.11ac Wi-Fi is supported.
Below are the technical specifications for Huawei E5170s-22 LTE Cube:

Huawei E5175 E5175s-22 4G LTE Cat6 Wireless

Router Overview
In the past year, Huawei E5186 4G LTE CPE becomes well-known because it’s the
world’s first LTE Category 6 wireless router for LTE-Advanced network with carrier
aggregation technology. And till now, there is no newer model to be released from the
Chinese manufacturer Huawei. Actually, there was a model which was released even
before Huawei E5186. The model number is Huawei E5175, which is also a LTE Cat6
wireless router for the latest LTE networks.
However, the Huawei E5175 is not presented at Huawei official site. We don’t know
why, and as we know, many Huawei mobile broadband are not listed there. So we can’t
find the official specifications for Huawei E5175. But we can find the technical
specifications somewhere.
Huawei E5175 4G Router specifications:

* LTE Category 6 wireless router

* LTE CAT6 downloads speed up to 300mbps, and upload speed to 50Mbps

* Support 4G LTE Band 1/3/7/8/20/38 (FDD DD800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz, TDD

http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-antenna-two-sma-connector.html)
Like its predecessors, Huawei E5175 is in flat design, it can stand on desk. The top
front are the LED indicators for Power, Network mode, WiFi, Voice, Signal. And the
Huawei logo is at the right side. On the back of the CPE E5175, there is a label which
show many information about the device such as the model number (Huawei E5175s-
22), Power Rating (12V, 2A), IMEI number, S/N number, Web site
(http://homerouter.cpe), Web user name and password, SSID and WiFi key.
Above the label, there is a plastic cover which could be open and below it, there are two
connections for external antennas. The connector type is SMA. At the below side of the
label, the interfaces are listed in a line. There are 4 RJ45 LAN ports, 2 RJ22 telephone
interface, 1 USB host interface, 1 power plug hole and 1 power button(on/off). And on
the back of the E5175, the body has many vents for heat radiation. At the bottom of the
router, there are also many vents for this.
The Huawei E5175 can work with SIM card directly. The SIM card slot is at the side
body. Open the cap on the sim card slot, user can insert a valid SIM card. After power
on, user can get connected with wireless network. Below the SIM card slot, the WPS
and WiFi buttons are there. Between them is the hole to reset the Huawei E5175 to
factory default.
From the appearance and interfaces, the Huawei E5175 is very similar to Huawei
E5186 Router. We will take a test next time to see which one could provide faster
wireless network. But from the specifications, Huawei E5175 is a good router which
could work on 4G LTE/3G UMTS/2G GSM networks. Up to 64 wireless users could get
connected with Huawei E5175. The most important is that it can achieve peak download
speed to 300Mbps and upload speed to 50Mbps.
Currenlty, there is few 4G routers which could support such high speed connection. If
you are looking for a LTE Router with the latest technology supporting LTE-advanced
network, Huawei E5175 is a trustful one to consider.

HUAWEI E5186 4G LTE CPE Overview

Huawei E5186 is the top model for 4G router with support for LTE Advanced Cat.6 and
receiving data rates up to 300 Mbit/s. It’s well suited as a professional solution for
enterprise or medium-sized office. Today, we write a review of this new router.
Comparing with the price when the E5186 router come out, the price is now more
acceptable for common users.
In most cases, you can get the E5186 router from local network provider, and the router
is locked to the local provider’s networks, which means you cannot use other operators’
sim cards. What we get is the unlocked one, so we can use the Huawei E5186 with any
compatible networks. The stationary router E5186 is powered from 220V (adapter), no
built-in battery is provided. E5186 LTE Router supports complete set of frequencies and
technologies, including LTE Advanced Cat.6 and everything below 4G/3G/2G. Wi-Fi
support 2.4 GHz and 5GHz simultaneously. Connect up to 32 users over Wi-Fi, plus a
four-port Ethernet and 1 Gbit/s for the wired connection.
Packaging & Design

With the original Huawei package, Huawei E5186 has only few accessories, including
an Ethernet cable for connecting, a user manual and AC adapter for 12 V and 2 A. If the
router was purchased with the tariff, you may also get a SIM card(Micro SIM). Without
the tariff, the price may be better.
The E5186 design is nothing special just like the predecessor model Huawei B890 and
B593 LTE CPE. But it’s structurally made interesting, front and rear panels are
symmetrically curved in opposite directions. The color of Huawei E5186 is white with
light gray sides. The power button is with the Ethernet ports. The WPS and WiFi control
button is at the body side, above is the SIM card slot which is covered by a small
cap. The E5186 dimension is 191x197x62 mm, which will not take much space on the
table or windows.

On the front panel, only the indicators are listed, including the Power, Network mode,
WiFi, Voice and Signal indicators. All switching part are at the back. On the top back,
there are two connectors are covered, user can open the plastic flap to use MIMO
antenna when necessary. Actually, there is built-in antenna in the Huawei E5186 router,
few people will need the external antenna. But if you do need antenna to enhance the
signal, you can refer to the antenna below:
The separate power switch for on and off is with four Gigabit LAN Ethernet-ports, one of
them part-WAN port for cable connecting the router to your ISP. USB-connector is used
for wireless sharing, such as an external drive or printer. Two telephone RJ11
connectors for the organization of an IP-telephone.

At full load the E5186 router is properly heated. There are many vents in the body, we
can see from outside, on top and bottom of the router, the small vents would help the
heat radiation quickly.
When the LTE CPE E5186 is working, the panel display in operating mode, for each
color mode. Green when operating in 2G networks, blue for 3G and 4G when connected
to an external provider of broadband internet. Perhaps there is not enough space for
indicator of connected users, and traffic volume, but this would not hurt. Fortunately,
enough free space on the panel. Apparently, the manufacturer assumed that the buyer
of serious professional devices, they do not care such trifles, and if concerned, user can
check through the Web-based interface.

We are very pleased with the automatic backup with a priority of the external connection
mode. When disconnecting a wired broadband router, the E5186 would switch to its
own modem to connect an external source and it will automatically switch to the Internet
to distribute it. Moreover, the entire switching procedure takes less than 15 seconds.
Specifications

A set of technologies and bands are supported through the Huawei E5186 router, there
is even support for LTE TDD. Here now, the Huawei E5186 has two variants, E5186s-
61a and E5186s-22a, they could support different LTE frequency bands, but both TD-
LTE and FDD-LTE networks are supported:

* Huawei E5186s-22a: LTE Band 1/3/7/8/20/38 (FDD 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz,

TDD 2600MHz)
* Huawei E5186s-61a: LTE Band 3/7/28/40 (FDD 700/1800/2600MHz TDD 2300MHz)

The main selling point for the E5186 router is to support LTE Advanced Cat.6 and
receiving data rates up to 300 Mbit/s. theoretically, this connections speed is almost
double of current LTE Cat4 speed (150Mbps). Ironically, most network providers haven’t
upgraded their networks to LTE advanced, current mainstream is LTE cat4 network. So
for many users, the Huawei E5186 router is future proof.
Another important advantage of Huawei E5186 router is simultaneous operation of Wi-
Fi router in standard 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. “High” and not noisy Wi-Fi 5GHz is now
ubiquitous even in low-cost routers. It’s better than only 2.4 GHz with no options, but it
is useless for a large number of connected users. All the same, we have to choose 2.4
GHz for compatibility with all devices.

Huawei E5186 can default create two independent Wi-Fi networks, and the user
chooses the module based on the capabilities of your device, or the distance to the
router. By the way, here we can for the first time face the Wi-Fi-transport as a
“bottleneck”: in a good reception, LTE Advanced router will not be able to deliver on the
best speed for your computer, which is able to take from the Ethernet.

Control

Like many other Huawei 4G LTE Routers, the operation of the Huawei E5186 router
could be done via web-based interface or mobile phone application named Huawei
Mobile WiFi, which now becomes even better and more convenient after a few updates.

Operational and impressions

In a typical LTE network (LTE Advanced), the Huawei E5186 shows speed performance
twice than what I had seen on other devices. Of course, we are talking about a specific
place, and the SIM-card is rearranged in different devices. In our test, the Huawei
E5186 consistently gave 30-50% speed more than other routers and modems.

The Huawei E5186 router can achieve 30 Mbit/s easily on measurements at almost any
time of day, and the rate of “around” 40-45 Mbit/s is nothing special. Data transfer rate
in the network for upload was always higher than 10 Mbit/s, which was also a pleasant
surprise to me. From the point of view, the ordinary use of the Internet is very
convenience, and I did not see the difference from wired connection.
Summary

The price of the Huawei E5186 is a little bit expensive now. It is of course a progressive
and avant-garde. But with the latest technology and good performance with fast &
stable connection, the E5186 router is worthy this price.

If you already read our reviews months ago, you may also get to know another model
from huawei for the LTE advanced Category 6. The model number is Huawei E5786,
which is pocket router with a large capacity battery; user can take it for outdoor activities
or business trips. If you are not interested in the stationary router E5186, E5786 may be
the right one.

Huawei B315 LTE Router supports network standards: GSM 900/1800 MHz, UMTS
900/2100 MHz, LTE-FDD 800/1800/2600 MHz, LTE-TDD in the range of 2600 MHz.
There is no back-up battery. SIM-card is normal, miniSIM format. On the back, there are
four LAN ports, one universal LAN/WAN. USB port is for connecting a printer or USB-
drive. And there is RJ11 jack for connecting a wired phone. They write about the
support VoIP and VoLTE on the next version of the software, CSFB support is present
and works fine. Two Connectors for MIMO external antennas is there, the SMA
standard, external antenna is not included with the B315 Router. If you need the
external antenna for LTE CPE B315, you can check it here:
http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-antenna-two-sma-connector.html
The B315 router can provide very good coverage of Wi-Fi. And it’s clear and fast
to switching between wired and mobile internet in both directions. The advantages of
the B315 are in compact size; there is almost no need to configure anything, a good
reception on the built-in antenna, a clear work and visual indication. The disadvantages
are lack of Wi-Fi range of 5MHz, no tweaks and additional features. For example, no
built-in torrent client, the USB-port does not support a second modem connection etc..

The package box of Huawei B315 includes quite compact router, user Manual, an
Ethernet cable, external power supply to the output current of 1 A. Once again, external
antenna not included, and you will have to buy yourself if necessary. There are two
colors available: black and white. The body of B315 LTE CPE is made of plastic but feel
good if hold it in hand.
As already written, all the connectors and other features are hidden on the back panel,
including slots for external antennas, which in most cases you do not need and they are
covered by a removable cap.

The button to activate WPS is on the top of Huawei B315 Router, for the on-off, the
button must be held down for 3 seconds. Besides the WPS button, it’s the power button.
On the bottom of the CPE B315, all the necessary information about the network SSID,
passwords, etc. are listed on the sticker. At the left side of the external antenna, it’s the
SIM card slot, it’s for standard SIM card size. There is a plastic cover on the slot, user
have to pull the cover out and then insert the SIM card.
Control

The settings control of the Huawei B315 router could be done via the Web-interface
(http://192.168.8.1 address) and mobile application. The WEB-interface, everything is
pretty standard, and user can select the network mode manually, there is 4G-LTE, 3G
and 2G variants provided. On the main page and in the status bar (top right) shows the
type of Internet connection, which is currently running a router and distributes online
consumers.
In the Statistics page, the traffic consumed via the mobile network is correctly
displayed. Unfortunately, there is no settings for daily traffic accounting, only for the
period of one month. The router can “broadcast on the air” to 4 SSID at the same time,
enabled by default one.

Work with external antennas can be flexibly adjusted using one external + internal, two
external or two internal. By default, the internal antenna, so just connect external will not
change anything; do not forget to change the settings to external in the WEB-interface.
User can also run the latest version of HiLink under Android. In principle, the
functionality of the application is enough in most cases. Send and read incoming SMS
through it is too comfortable.
It’s declared by the manufacturer that the Wi-Fi coverage range is up to 250 meters. But
manufacturers say a lot of things, but in practice conditions are always far from
ideal. Switching from a wired connection to the cellular network and vice versa
automatically works out for 2-3 seconds. The default priority is given to the wired
connection settings.

Voice calls (incoming and outgoing) in the LTE network are also normal (CSFB). It’s
promised in the next software update, the support for VoLTE will be supported.
Summary

The Huawei B315 4G Router is a common LTE wireless gateway and no special
feature. But it’s a decent wireless router for home or small office. And it’s enough for
daily usage. If you want 4G Router with higher configuration, you may check Huawei
E5186 Router LTE Cat6 router or ASUS 4G-AC55U LTE Router.

Huawei E5180 LTE WiFi Router Overview
You may be familiar with the Huawei LTE routers; Unlike other 4G Routers, Huawei
E5180 is in a special but nice appearance. The device is called the LTE CPE E5180. It
works well with all the network operators in Europe and Asia. And there is an Ethernet-
connector in the Huawei E5180, and it is possible to connect VoIP-device easily.

Design, size, controls

At the beginning, I said that the most interesting thing in the router – it is the
appearance, vaguely reminiscent of various things, for example, AirPort Time
Capsule. The E5180 is in rectangular Hull form, with greatly smoothed edges. The
upper part slightly recessed, and above it stands a large pedestal of frosted white. It has
some functional and aesthetic burden: in the first case is a button and the second it is a
light blue color. Button has a soft press and the average speed for using is very nice. A
short press activates the backlight off, or, and long-term (more than three seconds) –
Enables or disables the device itself. The ususal operation is quite convenient.

HUAWEI
E5180 LTE CPE

On one side of the Webcube body, two indicators are located. One on the above is
responsible for the mobile network, and the second, just below is for the Wi-Fi
network. The second is in blue, and the top is red (in 4G) or blue (in 2G/3G). The glow
does not hit in the eye during the day but is quite noticeable at night.
HUAWEI
E5180 LTE CPE
On the reverse side, there are the standard Ethernet-connector and a RJ-11 port for
connecting VoIP phones. At the bottom, there is a connector for power plug.
HUAWEI
E5180 LTE CPE
At the bottom of E5180 glued sticker with information about the key access to Wi-Fi
network by default, given username and password, as well as the IP-address. In any
case, I will write them here in case the sticker is removed or broken.

 IP: 192.168.8.1
 User: admin
 Password: admin
 SSID: Huawei-E5180-2DD0
 Wi-Fi Key: L8J2A871E01 (likely to be different in different devices)

Blow the stick, there is a slot for microSIM-card. The slot is covered by a small plastic
flap.
HUAWEI
E5180 LTE CPE
Above the lower platform rises a little rim of padded material similar to rubber. Overall,
Huawei E5180 looks great in any interior. The only thing missing is a big angle LED
screen. For example, the side indicator is not always clear whether the router is enabled
or not, and it is unclear what kind of signal – 3G or 4G to be connected.
HUAWEI
E5180 LTE CPE

Using the E5180 Wi-Fi-router

First, you need to install the SIM card into slot with support for Internet. Next, connect
the power cord to the device and plug the adapter into a power outlet. The duration of
the initialization is about 30 seconds, not fast. To connect to the E5180, you need to find
a WiFi SSID named Huawei-E5180-2DD0 and enter the key / password printed on the
underside of the unit. In principle, now you can already use the internet.

After connected to wireless network, the signal reception quality is about the same as a
portable router MR-100-2, that is not the best. If you are unsatisfied with the signal, an
external antenna should be necessary now, so that the signal gains a little higher. We
should also say that you cannot connect an external antenna. Usually, the network
mode “jumps” from 3G to 4G and back. However, it is more dependent on how well the
operator can “give” network, not on the E5180 router.
HUAWEI
E5180 LTE CPE
With regard to the WiFi coverage range, according to the manufacturer, it is about 250
meters along the line of sight. In practice, I can say that the E5180 is more powerful
than Asus RT-N10P (bought only to test the functionality of Wi-Fi in the house). Huawei
E5180 router distributes the Internet without problems in the apartment, even with the
obstacles in front of him – two reinforced concrete walls.

The official site says that Huawei E5180 router can connect up to 32 devices. I did not
have so much devices to real test, but a couple of laptops, three smartphones and a few
other gadgets worked tolerably well in the network.
For Huawei E5180 setup, you will need a special application and a smartphone or
computer. If in the PC, everything is available on the IP 192.168.8.1 with login and
password «admin». Below the screenshot of the WEB-version is for settings.
To configure settings using a smartphone or tablet, there is a free “Huawei HiLink” APP
on Google Play. It is very simple and visually displays information about the network
and router settings.
Conclusion

On the positive side, Huawei E5180 4G Router provides a cool, ergonomic design, and
the operation on this router is very simple and easy. Another advantage is that the
E5180 cube could work with all main European and Asia telecom operators in the
fourth-generation network, and it’s easy setup. The only shortcomings should be the
absence of the 5 GHz band for WiFi and missing of external antenna connector. For
most users, the Huawei E5180 is good enough for common daily use.

Netgear Aircard 810 4G Mobile Hotspot Test
Netgear had been offering 4G mobile LTE hotspots in European countries years ago.
The Netgear’s newest mobile wireless router AirCard 810 offers speeds up to 600
Mbit/s over LTE Advanced category 11. Thus, the AirCard 810 Hotspot is by far the
world’s fastest LTE router. Today, we will have a test for this new mobile hotspot to see
the latest feature in this model.

The packaging of the Netgear AirCard 810 is not spectacular from the outside. On the
small cardboard, there are the most important information such as a brief description of
the device and the technical specifications, including supported LTE frequency bands
and carrier aggregation band combinations. The package contents includes a modular
power supply with EU and UK power plug and USB port as well as the 2,930 mAh
strong battery, in addition to the hotspot itself. A suitable charging and data cable is of
course also available in the box. There is also a small microUSB to USB cable, which
allows you to use the Jump Boost technology, so other devices such as smartphones
can charge using the hotspots. A special feature included is the printed manual. It
explains the functions of the device in different languages.

The first impression from Netgear AirCard 810 Hotspot is quite good. The dimensions
are 112 x 69 x 15.5 mm pocket-fit and the weight is approximately 132 grams quite low
despite the strong battery. The battery cover is secure, but can easily open and feels
very good due to the matt black rubber coating. The transparent plastic cover on the
front contrast attracts fingerprints magically and reflects quite strong. Also the large
color display on the front makes a very good impression, but, there are further more to
be excited.

LTE Advanced Cat11

LTE Advanced with up to 600 Mbit/s in the downlink – the Netgear AirCard 810 router is
the world’s first device that supports LTE such high speeds. Technically, it is LTE Cat11
3 band carrier aggregation (3CA), ie for the full 600 Mbit/s, three 20 MHz wide
frequency ranges are combined. However, it is not enough for the Netgear AC810
supports the technology, each provider must have implemented Carrier Aggregation in
its network and has sufficient radio spectrum.

In the test, the LTE modem made a very good figure by the way. Once you have
inserted the MicroSIM card, you don’t need enter the PIN and then the router connects
to the wireless network already. Credentials as APN and dial-in number need not be
entered, but are automatically selected by the hotspot using the inserted SIM card. The
transmission and reception were very good at LTE800 and LTE1800, UMTS was very
satisfactory. LTE2600 has not been tested and Netgear has disabled 2G GSM network
for unknown reasons.
One of the few criticisms of the AC810 relates to the number of supported LTE
frequency bands. Although all important FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE frequency bands is
supported for Europe, but some important North American frequency bands are
missing, so that the Netgear AirCard 810 only conditionally suitable for travel in the
Americas. Here one should better check before traveling, which frequency bands are to
be used.

WLAN offload functionality

Netgear sets the WLAN radio module on current dual-band WiFi 802.11 ac, with up to
15 devices can be connected simultaneously. By default, the AirCard 810 sparking in
the 2.4GHz band, the 5GHz band can be added when required. The wireless range can
be adjusted in the settings in three stages, with a shorter range of battery life
benefits. Overall, the wireless coverage was very good in the test – at least for a mobile
router. The wireless network is encrypted out, password and WLAN names are printed
on a label inside the battery compartment. On request, the password will appear in the
display of the router. Optionally, a wireless guest network will be set up with a separate
password, the maximum limit of 15 simultaneously permitted devices must also be
observed here.

The Netgear AC810 has the so-called “Wi-Fi Offload” feature. This allows the router a
wireless network for Internet access instead of using the wireless connection. This
saves data volume and can be very useful in many situations. Via the web interface,
Netgear AirCard 810 is allowed to use as an access before using the corresponding
wireless networks, including password. The function can be found in the router’s
wireless menu under “wireless displacement”, said at the unit no configuration is
required, but only in principle to turn the function on and off.

The wireless connection can take bookings completely switched off and the device can
be used as a USB-only modem. This is useful, for example, when you want to use a
computer without a WLAN function always on. An operation without the battery,
however, is not possible.
Large touchscreen for operation
Like its predecessor Netgear Aircard 790, the Netgear AirCard 810 router can be
operated and configured in three different ways. The easiest and fastest way is certainly
through the touchscreen display directly on the device, but not all functions are available
here. Some particularly nested menus are available only via the web interface in a
browser. The third way to use is an app for Android and iOS devices. Design and menu
structure are managed in all three variants and self-explanatory.

The capacitive touch screen on the front reacted very quickly to inputs, write small
buttons such as the keyboard for SMS can be operated accurately. Somewhat
unreliable were the two capacitive keys for “Home” in the test and “back” of the
display. Overall, the touch screen is definitely a nice added value in comparison to other
mobile wireless hotspots.

The display turns off after a few seconds in order to save energy. This period can be set
in the menu. If the display is off, you can read the connection status using a LED above
the display according to operational mode in different colors. If desired, the LED is also
switched off, which is for example useful if you want to use the hotspot in dark rooms.

Battery and Other

The Netgear AirCard 810 battery is 2,930 mAh strong and easily replaceable by the
user. If necessary, you can just take a second or third battery or replace a defective
battery. The manufacturer promises an operating time of about 11 hours, in the test with
Internet radio streaming over LTE, I have reached this maturity even approximately. Via
the so-called jump-boost function, the battery can charge other devices such as smart
phones; the appropriate adapter cable is (as mentioned above) in. But you should not
expect too much for recharging multiple times for other devices, if charging is need, we
recommends the use of a proper “Power Bank”.

The Netgear AirCard 810 allows the option to connect an external LTE antenna to
transmit and receive services and to improve the speed. These are two TS-9
connectors in this unit. With a matching Pigtail (adapter) you can connect virtually any
standard antenna. Optionally, there Netgear has also a docking station (model
DC112A), which remodels the hotspot with 4x Gigabit LAN, external WLAN antennas
and integrated charging feature for perfect home router. Unfortunately, the availability of
DC112A in my area is very limited, so I unfortunately could not get to test them
together.
Conclusion: the best LTE Hotspot
Netgear offers the AirCard 810 LTE Hotspot undoubtedly the best current mobile LTE
router in Europe. Not only the modem and the speed of the AirCard 810 are far ahead
of its competitors, even the operating concept is outstanding. The very extensive
features of the previous generation have been further extended, as is now also a
wireless repeater on board.

There are still three points which user must note: GSM / 2G mobile is not supported, the
manual frequency band selection is not possible and fundamentally supported LTE
bands in comparison with current smartphones are still very poor. Overall, the test
conclusion is however extremely positive and the Netgear AirCard 810 LTE Hotspot
gets a very strong buy recommendation!

Mobile Hotspot Test
Huawei CarFi E8377 Bring Internet in a Car
Permanent access to the internet in the car is sometimes useful. Of course, if you ride
alone, and you are using only a smartphone, then just turn off the mobile data and no
any trouble. Sometimes, however, it is not enough to have only mobile data from
smartphone.
A good example is a longer trip with your family or a business trip with colleagues. Then
plain hotspot on your smartphone may not be enough. Firstly, because it does not
always provide the appropriate connection speed to several people at the same time,
and secondly because the burden on smartphone.

Therefore it comes the new gadget Huawei CarFi – small WiFi router, which need to
put the SIM card and connect to the cigarette lighter socket in the car. The Huawei
CarFi connects to the fast 4G LTE mobile network and Internet broadcasts up to 10
people at once. It is therefore suitable both for use in typical passenger cars and
busses. Users can connect a couple of laptops, tablets, and even (if necessary)
smartphones wirelessly.
Huawei CarFi (E8377) is a small router, consisting of a plug into the car’s 12 V and an
upper part, enlarged section in which there is a push button switch, antenna connector
and of course a slot for a SIM card.

On the leg there is a sticker with the Network ID and the default password. User should
take a picture to save, because the sticker is easy to damage. In addition, there are two
stickers with the name and password, which are glued. Under the cap at the top part,
with the slot, there is a small connector for an optional external antenna. It is optional
but can be useful at a time when we are trying to connect to faster cellular network in an
area of weak coverage.
At the top of the side, a USB output port is built-in. It could be connect to an ordinary
USB cable and charge the smartphone. In practice, Huawei CarFi is not only a router,
but also a car charger.
Configuration and operation

The setup process is very simple. After inserting the SIM card and placing the router in
the slot 12 V, user only need to hold down the button on the top and the Huawei CarFi
turns on. Now your smartphone searches the network created by the WiFi router and
connects to it after stating the default password.

Theoretically we can keep longer use Internet connectivity from now, but definitely
recommend installing the program Huawei HiLink on your smartphone. Download it free
from Google Play (Android) and the App Store (iOS). The WiFi name and password can
be changed in the future in the HiLink application settings.

The main task of the application on the smartphone is not only changing the settings.
Other management could also be done when connected to the Huawei CarFi, and user
can control the consumption of a data packet.

When we checked the data rate in the big city, we can gain typically 30-35 Mb/s. Even if
we divide the speed on several devices, it will still be able to use the Internet easily,
such as check email, use Google calendar, work on documents in the cloud and send &
receive small files. The connection was stable. There I had not met with cases of
disconnecting one of the CarFi E8377.
Summary

Huawei CarFi was doing a positive test. First of all, it was very easy to install and use
(management from a smartphone). Secondly, you can connect up to 10 different
devices at the same time to use them from the Internet. Thirdly, featured router is not a
big financial expenditure, and may prove to be very useful during a business trip (work
in a car) or a long trip with friends and family. If you drive often in the car with a few
people and your car does not have its own WiFi router, the Huawei CarFi is
recommendable.

Final assessment:

* fast 4G LTE Mobile Communications

* WiFi hotspot, the ability to connect up to 10 devices simultaneously

* stable operation

* built-in USB port for charging smartphones

* very simple setup and operation

* operation via smartphone (application HiLink)

* the ability to connect an additional antenna

Buying Huawei CarFi router is most cost-effective when the car will be benefited for a
few people (some devices) at the same time. Therefore, a good idea is to buy a large
package of data plan on the mobile phone number. With an average, load should be at
least 10 GB per month, and at a higher 25 GB or more. The cost of purchasing the
router is not very big. You can buy the Huawei CarFi E8377 from www.4gltemall.com at
good price now.

Huawei B890 4G LTE Router Test
Not everyone is so lucky to get fast broadband at home in past time. But after getting
the new 4G LTE Router Huawei B890, there is possibility to enjoy high surfing speed.

Huawei B890 LTE Router provides Internet via the mobile network, a solution with 4G in
many cases just as good speeds as the fiber experience. In addition, it comes with a
clever extra feature. The router is in fact also a DECT base – the technology used in the
good old wireless landlines. The base station has in fact higher power than your phone,
and then you can carry mobile calls via DECT phone.
You can make calls, receive calls, send SMS and do what you could with a regular cell
phone. Buy you own SIM card and plug into the B890 router, then you will have your
own phone number. The only thing you must remember is that you need a SIM card that
also supports voice.

Since most subscriptions include free speech, this is not a bad solution. The Huawei
B890 Smart Hub is especially useful if there are many people using the phone – for
example, children who have not yet own phone, or if the modem is used in a
workplace. It also gives you the opportunity to have a private phone in the cabin, boat or
home office.
Huawei B890 4G Router

Range of up to 300 meters

If you do not want to spend money on having a separate SIM card or a twin card to the
B890 router, you can use the SIM card from your phone, and still be available for
talks. DECT phone looks enough like a cell phone, but it works only within range of the
base station, max 300 meters.

The Huawei B890 router can work in both 3G and 4G, but not on GSM/2G. That means
it will not work in areas where you only have EDGE coverage. When you talk to your
DECT phone, Huawei B890 modem will use 3G. You can surf and talk at the same time.
Huawei B890 Antenna Ports and WAN/LAN Ports
The B890 LTE Router supports 4G 800 MHz frequency, in addition to
900/1800/2100/2600 MHz. The maximum download speed is 100 Mbps, while the
maximum upload speed is 50 Mbps. There are faster LTE Router now, which could
support so-called CAT4 modem with max 150 Mbps download, and even LTE Cat6
router which could support peak download speed to 300mbps, and Huawei E5186 4G
Router is the first one with LTE Cat6.

On the router, there are three LAN ports and 1 WAN port. When the SIM card will act as
a backup, the WAN is down. In addition, the router provides a USB port that allows you
to share external memory or printers.
Huawei B890 WPS Button
The wireless router communicates at 2.4 GHz, but not at 5 GHz. This means that the
connection can be a bit unstable if there are other wireless networks nearby.

For this test, we got us an external antenna to put on the house wall. The external
antenna is a 9 dBi 4G panel antenna. It has 4G in the name of course, means that it
supports 4G frequencies, but it also supports 3G and 2G. But the Huawei B890 router
does not support 2G. It only weighs half a kilo, and a mounting bracket makes
installation easy. The antenna is directional, so it is advisable to inform about where the
signal is strongest before installing it on. Best is to place the antenna as high as
possible, especially because the highest frequencies attenuated lot of vegetation or
house walls. The antenna comes with two five-meter long antenna cables, which could
connect directly to the back of the Huawei B890 router.
Huawei B890 SIM Card slot
Our first attempt was to wander around inside the cabin to find out where the coverage
was the best. It turned out that on a couple of points in the living room got symbol H+ on
the mobile screen. We measured download speeds up to 13 Mbps; sometimes, the
peak speed could reach 25Mbps.

In our test, Huawei B890 wireless router operates fairly undisturbed by other networks
and we witnessed 802.11b/g/n (at 2.4GHz) as sufficient. With the Huawei B890 4G
router, we can also follow what happens in the cabin, via IP cameras connected to the
wireless network. This works fine on 3G. There is no problem to flow TV2 Sumo or
Netflix in HD quality to your TV, as long as you have enough data available on
subscription.

Availability

The Huawei B890 4G LTE Hub/router is with very budget price now at
www.4gltemall.com, but you can also buy a package that also includes the external
antenna. But if you prefer to LTE Cat4 router, or even latest LTE cat6 router, you may
refer to other models. Here you can check more Huawei latest 4G LTE routers:
