THE EDITOR RESPONDS TO “THE TRUTH”

April 18, 2018

The Editor: “The Truth” needs a response from the Editor.

The letter from Luis Vera seems to be a letter directed at Darryl Morin, a candidate for
National LULAC President, whom the Editor will not be supporting. Mr. Morin’s campaign
has been running a campaign about the short-comings of LULAC, the fact that LULAC is
broke, Rocha’s sell out of the Dreamers to the Trump administration and the corrupt means
by which Roger Rocha was saved from impeachment by a Luis Vera engineered TRO that
prevented the National LULAC Board from taking any action to impeach and/or remove
Roger Rocha from his post as National LULAC President at the last National Board meeting
in February. It was the same TRO tactic that Luis Vera pulled on the LULAC House of
Delegates in New York City in 2014 that voided the National Assembly meeting and
LULAC for the first time, no national election for officers and Margaret Moran a fifth term
in office as National President.

The letter, while difficult to understand that it is directed at Darryl Morin, is also an attack
against ANY PERSON, LULAC’er OR NOT, who speaks out against LULAC, via “emails,
Facebook post, videos, comments and tags.”

Any critic of LULAC, is tagged by Mr. Vera as promoting the Trump agenda. The Editor does
not think President Trump gives one fucking iota about LULAC.

The LULAC critics do not do favors for Donald J. Trump.

It was Roger Rocha’s, Luis Vera’s friend, who sold the Dreamers under the bus by
committing LULAC to the Trump Four Pillars Immigration Plan, in exchange for the $25
billion border wall from San Diego, California to Brownsville, Texas, the elimination of the
family unity immigration policy, known as chain migration, an immigration policy that has
been the backbone of every significant nationality that has immigrated into the United States
since the late 1800’s, today immigrating 1,000,000 persons annually, and the elimination of
the immigration lottery system, that permits 50,000 immigrants enter the United States
through the draw of lot, a program that 4 million persons participate in each year.

The outrage over what Roger Rocha did was explosive. LULAC was the headline story in all
sectors of the American media for at least 72 hours. LULAC had never gotten such
publicity. It was publicity, but it was BAD. Which is another reason for the Luis Vera letter.

“[T]he constant lies,” starts Mr. Vera…that LULAC does not do enough for the Dreamers,
that LULAC is broke, that corruption will destroy LULAC… Mr. Vera says that emails,
Facebook, videos, comments, tags are self-serving.

LULAC is broke. LULAC sold the Dreamers under the bus by endorsing the Trump 4 Pillars
Immigration proposal. Corruption has done a lot of damage to LULAC. One thing that
Roger Rocha did not do as President was permit the selling of LULAC property for personal
profit, as was the case with the two prior LULAC administrations. The control for LULAC
has caused the disqualification of a national candidate from running in Las Vegas in 2013,
the cancellation of the LULAC convention in New York City in 2014, with a TRO sprung by
Luis Vera himself to save the day for his friends in power, and the use of another Luis Vera
TRO in Washington, D.C. to prevent the National LULAC Board from impeaching Roger
Rocha in their February meeting of this year. Corruption does not destroy an organization,
it’s the leaders of the organization who commit acts that are viewed as corrupt acts that can
kill an organization, Mr. Vera being a principle among those leaders.

Roger Rocha stupid endorsement of the Trump immigration policy, and he is still at it today,
threw everything asunder, for the LULAC powers that be. The LULAC leadership transition
was supposed to take place in 2019, in Milwaukee. That would give the LULAC power
players the time they needed to transition into a new LULAC President. Darryl Morin in
2019, I doubt it. The trade-off for not impeaching Mr. Rocha in February 2018 was that Mr.
Rocha would not seek his fourth term.

Luis Vera’s letter was not necessary. He writes as a hermit who just woke up and was now
reacting to the national bashing LULAC got 70 days ago when the Latino community, all
56,600,000 of them, found out how a stupid man, Roger Rocha, could sell his people down
the drain for a moment of glory with the Trump administration. It was the email, Facebook,
Twitter, blogs, social medial commentary that gave LULAC a stiff kick in the ass that
changed the political alignment in LULAC.

The social media of LULAC are not Russian trolls. They are not Trump hacks.

In sum, they are the Latino community speaking out in mass. They do not lie.

The Editor

The Luis Vera Letter of April 15, 2018, below.

To LULAC Members and To All:

It is time to address the constant lies, made up stories and attacks on LULAC by self•
serving emails, Facebook post, videos, comments and tags.

The constant lies that LULAC does nothing in the fight against racism and discrimination
or to protect our dreamers is not only a lie but a fraud on LULAC. The continuous onslaught
of stories that we are totally broke and going to destroy ourselves with corruption is a lie. It
is these same people who do not raise one cent or work to increase our
membership for LULAC that constantly attack LULAC in their personal campaigns for a
LULAC office that discredits LULAC, not our hard-working volunteers, officers and
directors.

Most recently SB4 of Texas, led by LULAC and the past victory of SB1070 of Arizona
together with the hundreds of cases in Texas and thousands throughout the country reveal the
truth of the lies that LULAC does nothing. Just two weeks ago, we, in LULAC vs Arizona on
the discriminatory practice of dual voter registration was won by LULAC. Arizona was forced
to settle after the Federal Judge's pretrial rulings. LULAC just filed suit yesterday in LULAC
vs Virginia over purging of Latino voters from voter list and publishing the names of these
people as felons. LULAC has one the same in other states and cities. These suits and others
have forced Trump to disband his commission on immigrant voter fraud. Our LULAC cases
are too many to mention here.

It is time that we begin exposing all the untrue statements made by anyone that LULAC
is not respected or leading the fight against anti-immigrant laws on racism and discrimination.
Facebook, emails and other social media accusations for political purposes are what discredit
LULAC, not the thousands of members who work daily on behalf of LULAC, to better our
communities.

There are no "Powers at Be" as these accusers enjoy boasting. We are all volunteers
who give our heart, passion and soul to better our communities. I have been personally blessed
to provide this service in historical legal cases across the United States, without the need for
self-aggrandizement or political self-serving lies as are told by people on a mission to destroy
LULAC. I, like thousands of LULAC members are tired of these lies and made up stories.
We stand together against the bigots and racist and we face them every day, on their own turf.
We run from no one.

Since 1929, the legacy of LULAC is written in history books and in legal cases all over
the country. I have been blessed to lead many of those legal cases for the past 20 years and
will continue to do so, as long as I am blessed to serve all LULAC members, no matter whose
side they support during any election. We will soon file against the State of Iowa as
soon as the governor signs their new anti-immigrant law. We argue again in the US Supreme
Court on Tuesday, April 24th, seven days from now. It is our LULAC and the NAACP
standing together in brotherhood and sisterhood, before the 9 justices of the United States
Supreme Court, fighting against the State of Texas, the racists Governor Greg Abbott and
President Donald Trump, for the voting rights of Latino and Black voters.

For those of you who attack, you are wrong and a complete fraud to the members of
LULAC in your self-serving emails, Facebook post, videos, tags, comments and other social
media. You have taken up the mantra of Donald Trump in calling our organization as corrupt,
bankrupt and on a path of destruction. You have taken up Donald Trump's mantra of Fake
News and claims of being threatened and bullied. You have accomplished one good thing,
you have brought us together to expose you. We will stand together. LULAC's creed is above
us all.
Blessings to All,

Luis Roberto Vera, Jr.

LULAC National General Counsel
