Objective Students will be able to build contractions 2/3 times on their own

Anticipatory Set Have students look at picture I put up and look at picture and lead them

to use contractions

Lesson  Build contractions using not, am, have and will

 Show what letters in each will be crossed out

 Have students build contractions on white boards.

 Have them hold up to be checked.

Accommodations Help students by leaving up on the board what letters you cross out for

each contraction.

Closure Encourage students to use contractions in the work and speech today.

Such as “We’ll go to lunch after our last station”

Objective Students will be able to group objects into groups of 10

Anticipatory Set Put a bunch of counting chips onto the desk and ask what is the best way

to count these. Encourage students to tell you by putting them into piles

of 10.

Lesson Split students into 3 groups. Put each group at one of the big table in the

room. Then hand each group a few handfuls of counting chips have them

work together to group the piles into 10s and count them

Accommodations Have students struggling in math sit close to you during stations. Put

numbers on the red dots on page 155 when counting the dots. Help them

count to 10 when coloring the stars on page 156

Closure Regroup after stations and remind students that when counting big

groups that its good to divide objects into groups of 10 so that they can

count them better

Subject ELA

Objective Students will be able to use the word president to create other 2 letter, 3

letter and 4 letter words.

Anticipatory Set Show students how we can use letters from a word to make new words.

Example: America  Car, explain how we don’t have to use all of the

letters to do this.

Lesson  Have students cut out the letters in president.

 Have them use the letters to help them create new words and

write them down on their paper. Give them 5-10 minutes

 Call on students to tell you their words then write them on the

board.

Materials  President worksheet handout

Accommodations Take away some letters to help student be able to find words on their

own.

Closure Review how students didn’t have to use every letter to build new words

Anticipatory Set Talk about how the story is a play and that means characters take turns

talking

Lesson Students each get a card with a character on it and a color. The students

will split into groups based on the color and will each have a part.

Students will read “Where are my animal friends in groups. Page 117

Accommodations Students are paired into groups where stronger readers are paired with

the lower readers

Closure Ask questions about the story:

 Why wont Raccoon see catipillar until spring?

 Where are Goose and humming bird going?

 What is bear doing?

Anticipatory Set Students will be able to recognize patterns in the 100s chart.

Lesson  Have students fill out 100s grid

 Discuss patters that they see

 Guide the children to realize that each number going across

increases by 10.

Accommodations Help student fill in the 10s column as well as a few other number to help

keep the on track when filling out the 100s chart

Anticipatory Set Review the meanings of –er and –est endings

Lesson  use white boards to write comparative endings

 have students compare objects around the room.

 Bring up 3 students and compare taller and tallest

 Other examples (darker/darkest color of objects, wider/widest

objects, shorter/shortest, smaller/smallest)

 Write the base word on the board and have the students write

the word with the correct ending on it on their white boards.

student start writing. Students first have to decide if they want

Then they will write why or why not they want them to come

Anticipatory Set Review spelling words for the week. (8/10 have ai or ay)

Lesson  Share how the /ā/ sound is made with the ai and ay spelling

 Have students open to page 14-15 in their student books

 Ask the students what the horses are eating (hay)

 Have students look at the picture and find other words that may

make that sound. Write them on the board so students can see

the spelling. Erase words that they say that do not fit the ay ai

sounds. (chain, paint, rain, train, snail, braid, gray, clay)

Anticipatory Set . Call 5 students up and ask how we can group them into two groups.

(Boys and girls) After sorting them ask how many we have in all. Ask what

group has the most students and what group has the most.

Lesson  Have students sort pet picture on the board and show them how

we can record the information.
