backwardness of agriculture sector the person involve in this sector have to face seasonal
unemployment problem. That is why the role of migration is very crucial in underdeveloped areas.
There has been long history of migration in Bihar. In Bihar the nature of migration are both within the
state and outside the state to other parts of the country and to same extent abroad also (rural urban

main driver of economic development and growth. Bihari migrants have significantly contributed to
the growth process in other parts of the country (Labour Markets, Employment and Migration,
Development Research on Bihar, 2000-2010)

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Bihar is facing a massive challenges of out migration situation. Although MGNREGA has helped to
decrease migration, but to very small extent in context of Bihar. The migrants send the remittances to
their origin state but the source state have great difficulty in converting remittance income into
sustainable productive capacity. Apart from that the migrants from Bihar who have gone outside from
the state have to live in very worse conditions. The quality of employment is also not satisfactory but
in Bihar there is no opportunities of employment due to lack of public and private investment.
Agriculture productivity is also very low in Bihar
