1. Water is made up /w one oxygen atom and to hydrogen atoms that are bonded with

covalent bonds. However oxygen atom has more valence electrons on the outer shell than

hydrogen which make it more electro-negative than hydrogen. Therefore electrons will

move more to oxygen atom making it slightly more negative and making hydrogen more

positive. Therefore having plenty of water molecules mixed together will make oxygen of

one molecule attract hydrogen of another and so on till all molecules are bonded together

which makes water a special molecule for life.

2. Life as we know it is a carbon based life, whenever we search for life we search for

carbon. Since most molecules produced by living organisms are made up of carbon –

hydrogen mostly. The reason is carbon has 4 vacancies which make it easy to be bonded

to many atoms. In addition to its ability to form variety of structures like hexagonal

structures (sugars). Moreover many molecules which make up life like amino-acids are

made up of carbon in addition to functional group (amine in this example).

3. Water percentage in animals bodies vary between 50% to 75%. Therefore when an

animal’s body temperature rises water start coming out as sweat. Then body heat excites

the water molecules on the skin causing the hydrogen bond to break leading the water to

evaporate and taking heat energy and dropping the animal’s body temperature.

4. Water has the ability to dissolve any polar molecule. The reason is that water can form

hydrogen bond with other polar substances, for example dissolving potassium chloride

(KCl) in water oxygen which is lightly negative will attract chloride and hydrogen which

is slightly negative will attract potassium leading to KCl to bream and dissolve in water.

5. Scientific theories usually takes years to be proven however even a scientific theory

cannot be 100% true all the time. Science develop every second and many theories get
 revised when new data comes out that contradict the theory. In case of the cell theory the

only way to disapprove it is if we found some kind of life that has no cells and is living or

if we found a cell that was made on its own.

6. Each protein in our body is made up of a certain sequence of amino acids this sequence

defines the function of this protein. In this case one amino acid is changed made the

hemoglobin inactive since all the sequence was changed and the function was changed.

7. In this experiment some variables were not controlled for example age of the people in

addition to their sex, their medical history and the time they consumed the potato and if

consumed with any other foods or medicines.
