1, Scope
This specification covers design, manufacture and tests of 2100C grade concentric.lay-strand gapped
super thermal-resistant aluminum-alloy conductor, steel reinforced, i.e, GZI'ACSR for use on overhead
electric utility power lines.

2. General requirements
2-1 Applicable standard
IEC 61089 Round wire concentric lay.overhead electrical stranded conductors
IEC 60888 Zinc-coated steel wires for stranded conductors
IEC 62004 Thermal-resistant aluminum alloy wire for overhead line conductor

numerical lralues in this specificaUon have priority. Furthermore, items other than specified in this

3. Materials and construction


3-1 Super thermaFresistant alumin um-alloy wire
Super thermal-resistant aluminum.alloy wire shall meet eaeh of the reguirements specified below,
before stranding.
(1) Material
= Super thermal-resistant aluminum-alloy wire shall meet the requirements of standard IEC 6200+
AT3

. (2) Quatity
Super thermal-resistant aluminum.alloy wire shall be uniform in quality and smooth in surhce and
free from practically harmful defects such as flaw, rust, cnck, etc.
(3) The properties of super thermal-resistant aluminum-alloy wire shall be specified in Table 1.

Steel wire and heat resistant grease shall meet each of the requirements specified below, before

stranding.
(1) Material
ThesteelcorewireusedshallmeettherequirementsofstandardIEc608B8.
(2) Quality
Steel wlre shall be uniform in quality and smooth in surface and free from practically harmful
defects such as flaw, rust, crack, etc
(3) The propefties of steel wire and heat resistant grease shall be specified in Table 2 and Table 3,

Stranded conductor shall be composed of steel wires and super thermal-resistant aluminum-alloy wires
which are stranded uniformly and tightty in the composition as shown in Table 4. The gap between steel
cores and inner aluminum layers shall be filled with heat resistant grease. Central steel wire of steel
core shall not be greased.
In all constructions, the successive layers have opposite direction lay and the direction of outer most
" layers shall be right-handed (Z direction).
The lay ratio of the various layers of wires in stranded conductor shall conform to Table 5.

3-4. Joints
There shall be no joinis of any kind made in the finished steel wires.
Slectric butt welding or cold-pressure welds in the finished individual aluminum wires composing the

same wire or in any other wire of the completed conductor,

4. Test and inspection


Conductor tests shall be carried out in accordance with applicable standards for following items and shall
be satisfied with the requirements of applicable standards except as modified in this specification. The
sampling rate for acceptance test shall be 100/0.

removed from the completed conductors shall not be less than 95% of the minimum tensile
strength specified for the wire before stranding,

5. Packing and marking


All conductors shalt be generally shipped on best commercial practice non-returnable steel reels covered
with wooden laggings in accordance with Appendix B.
Each length of conductor shatl be wound on a separate conductor reel and the conductor ends shall be
securely fastened to the reel to prevent the conductor from becoming loose in transit or during placing
operations.
At least details given below shall be distinctly marked on weather-proof metallic materials on both outer
sides ofthe reel flange:

- 2) Length of cable in meters
- 3) Net & gross weights in kilograms
- 4) Reel number
- 5) Name of the manufacturer
6) Year of manufacture
7) Arrow showing the direction the drum shall be rolled
