Adverbs

1. An adverb tells us more about an action (verb).

Examples:
a) The boys and the girls are talking loudly in the class.

2. Adverbs are usually formed by adding ‘-ly’ to adjectives.
Examples:
a) bad ~ badly
b) serious ~ seriously
c) rude ~ rudely

3. If an adverb ends in ‘-y’, change’-y’ to’I’ before adding ‘-ly’.

a) angry ~ angrily
b) hungry ~ hungrily

4. If an adverb ends in’-le’, change’ -e’ to ‘-y’.

a) gentle ~ gently
b) simple ~ simply
c) comfortable ~ comfortably

5. Some adverds do not have ‘-ly’ ending.
