Instructional Materials Order

After taking careful consideration, I decided to base my instructional order on materials I

noticed there was a lack of or currently missing, in the media center at Montgomery County
Middle School. Also, the ebooks that were purchased have multi-user access, therefore there is
unlimited, simultaneous access to the books.

(Non-Fiction)

I began by ordering several biographies because this is one of the weakest areas noted in the
Collection Analysis of the media center. Also, the biographies I selected correlated with the
sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Georgia Standards of Excellence in the subjects of science,
social studies, and reading/ELA. The selected biographies consisted of print book and ebooks.
Also, there is a need for students to read more non-fiction texts in the School Improvement Plan.

Fiction

The fiction books and ebooks that were selected to be ordered consisted of books that were
related to the Georgia Standards of Excellence in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Ebooks, as
well as, print books were chosen. Because many fiction books have recently been eliminated
from the collection due to being outdated, it is necessary for those missing gaps to be filled.

Makerspaces

A middle school initial startup makerspace kit was purchased to begin an enrichment center for
students. Currently, there isn’t any type of makerspace equipment present in the media center.
This new edition will address an identified need of more enrichment activities in the School
Improvement Plan.

Professional Resources

Be That Teacher!: Breaking the Cycle for Struggling Readers was purchased to assist teachers with
addressing the need to raise the lexile level of students who’ve scored either as beginning or
developing learners in reading on the Georgia Milestone End of Grade assessment. Also, the
ebook, Daily math stretches : building conceptual understanding. Levels, 6-8 was purchased to
assist with the curriculum focus on math and improving test scores in this content area.

AV Materials

I purchased Remember the Titans dvd that coincides with a 8th grade Social Studies Georgia
Standard of Excellence, where students have to evaluate the role of Georgia in the modern civil
rights movement.
