Train The Trainer

Facilitated by Human Resources Training and Development

DISCUSSION GUIDE

Key Points

The best way to tackle challenges is to practice and not memorize.

Using hand gestures during your presentation can increase

communication and recall.

Discover the training method that works best for you and your trainees.

By engaging with your trainees, you can better become an effective

facilitator and leader.

Practicing Respect in Cultural Differences

A few things to remember when practicing respect

NOTES
with different cultures.

1. What message do you want to convey to your

trainee?

2. Does the trainee have any challenges

understanding the material?

3. What are you communicating and what response

would you like?

4. Have you tries changing your training method.

NOTES

FROM THE POWERPOINT

Cultural basics are the same everywhere. Facial

expressions and smiles register the same meaning
to people almost anywhere.

1. Become Self-aware - Are your beliefs causing

you to be closed minded?

2. Learn about it - Engage in research.

3. Talk about it – Be polite and just ask!

4. Observe – Observe how different cultures

interact with each other.

5. Accept it - Everyone is different.

Use your body to illustrate what you are trying to

say…or you might just want to draw a picture
instead.

Memory
5 minutes. Jot down 5 objects for the facilitator to remember.

The facilitator will take 20 single word items from trainees. Using the memory palace, the
facilitator will remember all 20 objects in perfect order in a limited amount of time.

Brain Food. In this activity we learn how effective a memory palace can be in remembering a
long list of tasks or a specific experience in perfect detail.

Mnemosyne is the Greek goddess of memory. While attending a performance in a

coliseum she stepped outside to meet with a friend.

While she waited, the coliseum collapsed taking everyone’s lives, except for
Mnemosyne.

The incident was so massive, the bodies recovered couldn’t be identified by the
authorities; however Mnemosyne was able to remember everyone’s name
perfectly. How was she able to do it?
