MANUFACTURE

Steel moulds are used to manufacture the piles in a factory-

controlled environment. After the concrete has been placed,
vibrated by internal vibrators and cured to sufficient strength,
the products are demoulded and the production cycle is
repeated.

254 x 254 45 40 72 1.5 - 2.0

Note:
1. The axial load capacity represents the structural capacity of the pile. Soil condition must be considered when determining
the safe working load of the pile for a particular site. However, the actual working capacity shall not exceed the
recommended axial load capacity.

FORMULA FOR AXIAL LOAD

The axial working load (Safe Working Load) of the pile is calculated in accordance with BS 8004, BS 8110 and CP 116.
According to BS 8110-1:1997, Clause 3.8.1.1,

Recommended axial working load = 0.25 × fcu × Ac

fcu = Characteristic cube strength of concrete at 28 days = 45 N/mm 2
Ac = Area of concrete
