Mobile Application for Creating

Learning Objective 2.2 The student will compare the lives and
contributions of three American Indian
cultures of the past and present, with
emphasis on the Powhatan of the Eastern

Woodlands, the Lakota of the Plains, and
the Pueblo peoples of the Southwest.
Activity The student will use the Book Creator app on the
mobile device of their choosing to create a story-
book to share with their classmates detailing one of
the three Native American cultures that has been
discussed in class. The teacher will first ensure the
students familiarity with the app, and, after the
student has created their story, check for factual
accuracy before the student shares their work with
others. The students will be broken into three groups,
with the students in each group working individually
on one of the three cultures. The student will use the
facts they have learned in class to create a story about
their group. When each group is finished, they will
share their stories with another group, making sure

the information on all three cultures reaches every
student.

2.2 The student will compare the lives and
contributions of three American Indian
cultures of the past and present, with
emphasis on the Powhatan of the Eastern

The teacher will demonstrate how to use the Kahoot
app to create a quiz and ensure student
comprehension. The students will work together in
groups of approximately 4-5 to use the Kahoot app to
create a quiz to test other students’ knowledge of the
information that has been discussed in class
regarding Powhatan, Lakota, and Pueblo Native
American cultures. After assembling and creating a
10-question quiz, each group will use the Smartboard
to present their quiz in the app and allow other
students to use their mobile devices to answer
questions individually. Each group will have a
chance to present their quiz, while the other students
answer questions in the app, with the statistical
results being displayed on the screen. The teacher
will use this information as a reference for what the
class has learned as a group, and what he or she
needs to spend more time on.

that need to be reassessed.
