What is IP telephony?

IP telephony (Internet Protocol telephony) is a general term for the technologies

that use the Internet Protocol's packet-switched connections to exchange voice,
fax, and other forms of information that have traditionally been carried over the
dedicated circuit-switched connections of the public switched telephone
network (PSTN). Using the Internet, calls travel as packets of data on shared
lines, avoiding the tolls of the PSTN. The challenge in IP telephony is to deliver
the voice, fax, or video packets in a dependable flow to the user. Much of IP
telephony focuses on that challenge. We are working on different kinds of
solution like Asterisk, Dinstar, VOP tech Avaya, Cisco and so on

What is Asterisk?

Asterisk is an open source framework for building communications

applications. Asterisk turns an ordinary computer into a communications server.
Asterisk powers IP PBX systems, VoIP gateways, conference servers and other
custom solutions. It is used by small businesses, large businesses, call centers,
carriers and government agencies, worldwide. Asterisk is free and open source.
Asterisk is sponsored by Digium. Today, there are more than one million
Asterisk-based communications systems in use, in more than 170 countries.
Asterisk is used by almost the entire Fortune 1000 list of customers. Most often
deployed by system integrators and developers, Asterisk can become the basis
for a complete business phone system, or used to enhance or extend an existing
system, or to bridge a gap between systems.

With today’s diverse workforce, communication solutions must conform to the

needs of individuals and organizations, not the other way around. Whether it’s
desk workers who need to be able to use their phone extension from a board
room or sit at a different desk with a different phone every day, to mobile
workers who need their work phone extension tied to their cellular phone, or
even home-based or remote employees who need a full “in-office” experience
regardless of where they are in the world, users demand the same feature-rich
communications experience they have in the office, no matter where they are or
what device they are using.

In the office, at home, or on the go, IP Telephony mobility solutions help

workers in organizations all kinds to be innovative and productive.

Objective:

In today’s high-tech world connectivity to networks is extremely important for

organizations to survive. IP Telephony mobility service facility gives PABX
users the freedom to attend to office calls irrespective of their geographic
location, and independently of their telephony device. Our mobility solution
makes it easy for our workforce to communicate on the devices from any
location (office, home, hotspots), and on any network (Wi-Fi, 3G/4G, WiMAX,
CDMA and GSM Technology), they can access a full suite of mobile unified
communications. Mobility extension is a unique function that turns a mobile
into IP PABX extension and thus frees the user from the office. This solution is
maintenance free and at very low running cost due to its intelligent call routing
system. Your IP Telephony system can be utilized to link extensions with
smartphones and user can easily contact you using a single number, whether
you are inside or outside of the office.
If you’re traveling internationally, you can use Wi-Fi calling to call back
through your IP Telephony Systems. Connect to a Wi-Fi network wherever you

etc. You won’t be charged international roaming fees or international calling
rates. Stay in touch with people back home without having to worry about
getting a large cell phone bill after you return from your trip.
If your mobile is turned off or is in an area where there is no mobile coverage,
and you cannot answer the call, the voice mail system can automatically answer
and record the caller's message. Mobility Extension can increase employee
mobility and organization's operational efficiency, productivity and enhance
service by providing un-hindered access to wireless telephony.

Findings:

On the basis of our observation we have found that most of the officials are
using smartphones and brings their own mobile or laptop in your office premise.
We can utilize their mobile phone as an “IP PABX Extension inside the office
and outside the office or global”. With the help of your strong Wi-Fi, LAN,
Branch to Branch Network and GSM technology, we can provide smoother
Voice over Wi-Fi calling and Voice Mail services.

Initial prototype deployment:

Initial prototypes and “proof of concept” deployment is being done by the many
corporate office and university.

Understanding MAC Authentication:

Each smartphones and Laptop has wireless network interface card (WNIC) used
by a wireless client and has a unique media access control (MAC) address. For
security point of view, all smartphone and portable devices must be registered in
your Authentication and Authorization system. MAC authentication can be used
and only method of client authentication and accessing the IP Telephony
systems.
