Philosophy of Education

The purpose of education is to provide opportunities for the fullest possible development for

every learner preparing him/her for life, work, and citizenship. Education develops the intellect

to serve the social needs to contribute to society to create an effective work force to prepare

students for a job or career to promote a particular social or political system. My goal as a future

teacher is to challenge my community of learners and inspire them to succeed beyond their full

potential to make a career out of their dreams. My role as an educator is to foster the minds and

provide a safe space for students to explore. I have the responsibility to prepare students to think

creatively, dream fearlessly, and succeed limitlessly. Students depend on teachers to guide them

through finding their interest and nurturing their curiosity. It is my goal to be passionate and

motivate to be an active member in the learning community and process. It is my duty to remain

nondiscriminatory and to be inclusive of every student; it is my goal to engage every learner of

my community no matter race, religion, orientation, etc. I hope to foster the mind of students to

prepare them for the future they want.

In most states, if not all, there are set standards for what students must know by the end of

the year for each grade –Common Core Standards, so there is not individuality in what is taught,

but how the lesson is taught is decided by the teacher. Being able to create material that relates to

the different cultures, religions, abilities, etc. is what helps students to succeed. Having a

specialized plan for each class of every semester of every year relating to the students is a key in

fostering minds and dreams in order to prepare them for life, work, and citizenship. My

community of learners is anyone who comes into a classroom every day. A community of
learners are those who are prepared to think, to explore curiosity, to follow dreams, to be a

productive member of society.

I believe there is no specific way students learn. Depending on the subject, lesson, and

content, the teacher must be able to evaluate what is the best way to teach his or her students on

the spectrum of lecture to hands-on experiments or projects. In most cases, students fall

somewhere in between, and many teachers fall between essentialism and progressivism

education philosophies. I believe that everyone should learn and should have the opportunity to

learn in preparation for the future. I believe having a mixed belief in educational philosophies

allows for a wider range of flexibility to reach every learner in a way that is best for them. I will

examine the way in which my community of leaners to best assist them for success. I want my

instruction and assessment to allow students to grow as learners and expand their knowledge best

for them.
