This hands-on workshop session covers how to use 5 of the most basics functions in Blackboard useful for instructors
across disciplines. These include: Announcements, Assignments, Faculty Information, Grade Book, and
Tests. Participants participate within a “sandbox” in Blackboard where they can create content. At the end of the
session participants will be able to set up and maintain a class within Blackboard.

Dropbox and Google Drive- Exploring Cloud Storage and File Sharing
This practical workshop session focuses on Cloud storage. These services provide a simple means of sharing and
synchronizing files across multiple computing devices. In this session, attendees received training on the essentials of
using Dropbox and Google Drive as cloud file storage and file sharing solutions. Additionally, attendees compared and
contrasted each option’s features to see which best meets their online storage and file collaboration needs.

Pastoral Counseling Lecture
This stimulating lecture was given within the context of the undergrad psychology course, ‘Intro to Christian
Counseling.’ It included topics from marital issues to death and the grief process. Not only was this lecture illuminating,
it was a learning experience for both the lecturer and the students in regards to the taboo of the topics that were
discussed.

This hands-on workshop will cover the specifics of developing a course in Blackboard. Participants will get an overview
of course layout and navigation along with learning how to place materials in a course.
Creating Engaging Video Resources for Online Courses
This insightful session will shed light upon the tremendous importance of incorporating both synchronous and
asynchronous aspects of video into all online courses. Not only will this session cover resources such as ScreenCast-O-
Matic, Zoom, the OBS and individualized video sessions. It will also cover the process to which these resources are
compiled and uploaded to Blackboard. We will also discuss how competitors are using these same tools. In doing so, we
will have a better perspective as a university that will lead us into being more proactive and progressive in our journey
toward offering the best quality online education within our means. Essentially this session will discuss a plethora of
topics regarding why incorporating video into the online classroom offers increased engagement and educational
advancement.
