Presidents Message
 Dear Members,

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the change of seasons and (hopefully!) cooler
fall weather. The last three months have been a busy time for ISACA OC as we have been
working to make sure the upcoming chapter year is action packed for our membership.

We have been revamping almost every aspect of our operations including a new web page, a new registration
tool (CVENT), and many other behind-the-scenes improvements.

Not only will these changes make a better membership experience for you, they are also helping to make a
better experience for our volunteers as well. As you see these changes take place please give us feedback and
suggestions so we can keep making things better.

We value having you as members and we are very much looking forward to seeing you soon at an upcoming
ISACA event.

Internal Audit and Information Security departments share a common mandate to help ensure that data is
adequately protected and that risk is managed appropriately. But, as with any work relationship, it takes time
and effort to turn potential into value. Along the way there will be challenges and difficulties that can derail a
team effort.

ISACA AC and ISSA OC have teamed up to bring you a panel of audit and Information Security professionals
who work together on a daily basis. The panel will be discussing relevant questions such as:

 What are the key elements of an audit/InfoSec partnership? How does a partnership work?
 How can collaboration help address the really big risks and challenges facing an organization?
 What are some collaboration success stories that could not have been achieved independently?
 Are there areas where audit and InfoSec need to work independently?

The panel will discuss real-world challenges and offer solutions and lessons learned from their experiences.

Panel speakers include:

Volunteer Spotlight
ISACA OC is fortunate to have a great group of volunteers. Each month we will bring you a featured volunteer
story so you can get to know our volunteers a little bit better.

Romeo Garcia

Summary: Romeo Garcia is a Senior IT Auditor with First American Financial.

He has more than 7 years of experience in financial and information systems
auditing in a variety of industries with clients ranging in size from small private
businesses to multi-national corporations both publicly traded and privately held.
His experience includes performing Internal IT Audit functions reviewing various
company IT process, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance reviews as an internal and
external auditor, managed and performed SAS 70/SSAE 16 reviews within a
variety of industries, performing business process control reviews and
compliance reviews of the internet sales and marketing functions.

Romeo's portfolio of experience includes working with BDO USA, Verizon Wireless and Beckman Coulter.

Hobbies: Remoe enjoys going snowboarding and keeping updated with the wireless and interactive
entertainment industry

Advice for other professionals: When setting goals, make sure they are measurable and not vague. This
will help you achieve them easier.
Best advice ever received: “Remember yesterday, live today and plan for tomorrow”.
