battle against obesity through its partnerships.
They say it takes a village to raise a child and this is
certainly the case for Sherry Hill's "baby" the
Community Enrichment Fitness Network.
With the collaborative efforts of CEFN’s executive
director and founder Hill, community partners and
interns from local universities, the non-profit health and
fitness (established in 2007) has evolved from simply
offering six-week wellness workshops at a few local
churches, to actually showing Philadelphians the how-
to’s of health and fitness on their public access television
program “Focus on Fitness.” The show includes an exer-
cise, interview and cooking segments.
Like all of CEFN’s initiatives “Focus on Fitness,”
which first aired on PhillyCAM in mid-November of
2009, has only come to fruition because of CEFN’s team
spirit, grass-roots nature and resourcefulness.
“CEFN could not survive without its interns and col-
laborative partnerships with local universities and com-
munity partners... [these] resources…[have placed
us]…in a better position to touch more lives with our life
changing mission to empower those who want to make a
permanent healthy lifestyle change,” Hill said.
However, getting their show on air was no easy task.
It took them to the front lines eight years ago, as mem-
