The task list is a facility which enables you to record outstanding tasks and mark them as complete.
These tasks can be part of a general ‘to do’ list or they can be allocated to an individual customer.
Completed tasks can also be added to the History of that customer.
To create a task
For general tasks, select Global for customer specific tasks select Customer Task. Use the
Lookup button to find the relevant customer. Type the action in the empty space then click OK.
For customer specific tasks, select customer then select the Task tab in the lower part of the
window.
This will list all the tasks for that customer. Double click on a task to view it.
To edit a task
Select Tasks in the blue margin. Double click on the relevant task. The task can be edited or marked
as Complete. Once complete a task can be added to the customer History.
Fusion automatically records every login and each occasion that a customer’s design is edited. Any
tasks that have been allocated to a customer can also be added to the history once they have been
marked as complete. This facility is very useful for maintaining an audit trail for each project.
Select the customer, then select History tab in the lower part of the window.
Select Tasks in the margin, double click on the task to open it. Make sure the Complete box is ticked.
Click on the History button.
Any documentation that is stored on your PC/laptop can be accessed from Fusion. This means that
anything relating to the current project can be viewed without the need to close or minimise the
design.
The attachment can be repositioned, resized or closed like any other window.
Combinations of style selections can be saved and used again in other designs. Whether you are
setting up a colour scheme for a room in Advanced Graphics or co-ordinating the styles from a
manufacturers catalogue e.g. Range, handles and worktops, time can be saved by using themes
rather making the same selections for every room.
To save a theme
In the example below, various changes have been made to the door fronts, handles and worktops.
To select a theme
In the HOME tab select Default Style. Select the relevant catalogue then select from the list of
Favourite Styles.
Right click on the ribbon at the top of the screen. Select More Commands.
Here you can delete unwanted themes or rename them. Click OK to exit.
Virtual Walls are invisible walls that can be used to place units and create additional elevation views.
Select Virtual wall Single, then select the single line tool
Finish Point
You will be prompted to rename the additional view that has now been created.
Select Elevation View and click on the Elevation dropdown menu. Select Named Views and click on
the required view.
Double sided Virtual Walls are placed in exactly the same way and can be used to create two
elevation views e.g. two sides of an island.
Units can be placed and repositioned in Perspective View by dragging them from the
Catalogue Items palette or their current position within the room.
Hold the left mouse button down on the unit and drag it into position.
In the example below, a base unit has been dragged from one wall and dropped on the other.
Correct use of the various worktop editing tools will allow you to get creative with Islands,
peninsulas and other freestanding worktop configurations. In the following exercise, you will
create a two tiered breakfast bar utilising two of the worktop menus.
In the INSERT tab, select Autofeatures. When the Autofeature menu appears, click OK.
Select the marker/hotspot as shown, enter 300 in the length field and press the Enter key.
Repeat the process for the lower marker/hotspot (enter 300 and press the Enter key).
Now select the Vertical Joint tool. Click on the triangular marker/hotspot, type 300 in the Position
field and press the Enter key.
Now select the Horizontal Joint tool. Click on the triangular marker/hotspot, type 300 in the
Position field and press the Enter key.
Click on the Autofeatures drop down menu and select Edit Worktops
(Click on the hotspot, enter 50 in the length field and press the Enter key).
Select the Convex Corner tool. Click on the hotspot indicated below and enter 250 in the X and
Y Offset fields (use the Tab key to move between fields). Press the Enter key.
Clicking the small circles on the original corners will undo the curved corners if you make a mistake.
Now select both freestanding worktops and reposition them against the units.
You will probably be aware that *Box can be resized to form anything rectangular such as
bulkheads, pipe boxing and steps. This feature will help you to create non rectangular shapes using
the worktop menus.
To edit a box
Select the INSERT tab and click on the Autofeatures dropdown menu. Select Edit Graphic Fixtures
You can now edit the box using the shaping and corner tools from the worktop menu.
Select the INSERT tab and click on the Autofeatures dropdown menu. Select Edit Graphic Fixtures
The Layers feature will allow you to hide individual or groups of items in a graphical view.
Layers have many uses, some of which are listed below:
Worktop Plans
Installation diagrams

All items added to a design have a default layer but they can easily be transferred to another. In
addition you can create your own layers, name them and Choose which items will go into them.
To hide a layer
In the VIEW tab select Layers. Select the layer that you wish to hide
In the VIEW tab select Layers. Select the layer that you wish to show.
Select the item, select the ITEMS tab, select Layers. The existing layer will be highlighted, now
select an alternative layer.
New layers can also be created by selecting an item and selecting ITEMS /Layers /Add to New layer

Sloped ceilings can be added to a room individually or in multiples using the Poly tool. Sizes can be set
before adding or once placed. Both velux and dormer windows can be added to a sloped ceiling.
Select Sloped Ceilings from the Catalogue Items Palette. Make any changes to the size and height
off floor. Then drag the slope into position.
It is important to ensure that the sloped ceilings and original wall heights match up or gaps will
appear. You will also need to readjust the original ceiling height to allow for the slope. This can
be done by selecting the INSERT tab and clicking on Add Ceiling.
Select Sloped Ceilings from the Catalogue Items Palette. Make any changes to the size and height
off floor. Select the multi line tool and click on a corner of the room to start drawing. Click on each
corner in a clockwise direction. Double click on the finish point.
One click
Select Elevation view. In Navigate View, click on the wall above which, the Velux will be placed.
You will now see the selected wall with the slope above it.
Select Windows in Catalogue Items. Type Velux in the Item Name field. Drag the Velux window onto
the slope holding the Control key down as you do so (this will unlock the default height).
Once correctly positioned, release the mouse button then the Control key.
These are added in the same way as the Velux. Most windows in Advanced Graphics can be used for
a dormer.
Dormers can be placed entirely in the sloped ceiling or partially into the wall below it.
Many functions in Fusion can be performed by using shortcuts. These are usually key combinations
on your keyboard and a comprehensive list can be found on the last pages of these notes. All of the
default shortcuts can be changed to keystrokes of your choice and the purpose of this module is to
explain this process.
Right click anywhere on the ribbon at the top of the screen. Select More Commands.
To do this select Edit Flyover Shelves in the list of commands. Ctrl F should be displayed, select it
and click on Remove.
Now select Add Floor and press the Ctrl and F keys as shown below. Click on Assign.

Import a Background
Introduction
Any image can be imported into Fusion FX and used as a background. You can use this facility to
import a photograph that you have taken onsite or can download an image that can be used on
future designs.
To import a background
Select the required option depending on whether or not you intend to use the image more than
once.
Panoramic backgrounds can be applied to any design with windows or openings. These backgrounds
differ to ordinary backgrounds in that they are not flat images but wraps that can be placed around
a design to give a more realistic view outside. These images have the HDR file extension and can be
downloaded from the internet or taken with cameras that have the panoramic photo feature. Many
mobile phones now have this facility.
In the VIEW tab, select Backgrounds, double click on an HDR image to apply it to the design.
The introduction of external lighting themes to Fusion means that designers can now set different
moods for each room by changing the lighting conditions outside.
To select a theme
There are six settings available. The following images will give you an idea of the differences:
None
Default
Cloudy
Midday Sun
Sunrise
Sunset
Lights placed into a room can be controlled by switching on or off, adjusting the intensity or
changing the colour. This can be achieved one light at a time or by selecting a group of lights
and applying the same adjustments to all of them simultaneously.
To adjust a light
Select the light or group of lights. In the ITEMS tab, use the controls in the Lights group of buttons.
In the examples below, the strip light under the cooker hood is being adjusted:
On
Higher Intensity
Colour applied
Individual or groups of lights can be placed into lighting areas. These areas are given names which
can then be used to change the lighting effects in a room by switching different areas on and
adjusting them as a group.
Select the lights required (this can be done in any view or the item list).
Now select the required option. By clicking on Select Area, any adjustment made with the
Lighting controls will affect all lights in that area.
You can also rename an area or move a light from one area to another.
In the example below, the cooker Hood and Plinth areas are switched on but the worktop and
ceiling areas have been switched off.
Movies simulate movement around a design. They are easily created and recorded, and can be
presented or given to a customer at a later time. Each movie consists of a number of saved
viewpoints which Fusion uses as anchor points creating the movement between them. It is
important to remember that as well as changing direction, viewpoints can also be set at different
heights to create a variety of effects.
To create a movie
Playback
In the following example, a movie will be created to simulate a walk around a kitchen design.
Select Movie Generation Settings. Use the Browse button to find a suitable location to save your
movies.
Select a wireframe render (this will save render time). Adjust the view, then Right Click on the image
and select Save Viewpoint.
Repeat this process for each change in direction as you move around the room.
To configure a movie
Having saved a number of viewpoints, they can now be converted into Movie Frames.
Enter a name for the movie. Select a movie quality from the dropdown list and choose a background.
Click OK
A progress bar will appear. Movie generation will run in the background allowing you to continue
carry on with other tasks
In the VIEW tab select Library and click on the movie to be played back. Movies can also be accessed
by double clicking on the saved movie in the completed movies location. These can be identified as
MP4 files.
Use the View menu at the top of the screen to resize the movie window
Use the controls at the bottom of the window to playback, fast-forward or rewind.
This feature will enable you to have two windows open concurrently allowing you to design in two
views. This means that you can view the design in differing views and renders. For example you
could construct a room in plan view and see the changes take place in perspective view at the same
time.
Right Click on the window and select the View and Render
To move a window
To resize a window
Hold the Left Mouse Button on the edge or corner of the window and drag it towards the centre to
make it smaller or away from the centre to make it larger. Using a corner will keep the window
proportioned.
The windows can also be arranged using the Layout options. Layouts can also be named and saved.
Any view can be printed to a PDF document. This document can then be shared and attached to
an email. Printing can to paper can be done directly from the saved PDF without the need to open
Fusion.

Introduction
This feature allows a designer to create a 360° panoramic view of a design and upload it to make it
accessible to a customer.
Creating a panoramic view, will auto-generate an email which is sent to the customer.
The email contains a link which the customer can use to access the 360° panorama online.
The customer can use a number of controls to view the design including Auto Rotate which
automatically pans the entire room.
First, you will need to ensure that the following information has been entered in the correct location
within the File Menu.
It is important that the design is complete including tiling, lighting and graphics.
Next, set up a view point. For the best results use the View From/To mode in Navigate View and
Right Click in the centre of the design.
Now select the Perspective View drop down menu and select 360 Panorama.
The panoramic view will now be created. Depending on the render setting you have selected, this
may take a few minutes.
Once the panorama has been generated, a preview will appear. This will give you a chance to check
that it looks okay before forwarding to the customer.
A message will appear confirming that the panorama has been published. It will also contain a link
which you can click on to access the 360 Panoramic View.
An email will be sent to your customer and you will also be sent a copy. The email is shown on the
next page with the details that you entered previously.
The controls for viewing the 360° Panorama are simple to use and most customers will be
comfortable experimenting with the different effects. If you do need to help your customer,
the following paragraphs explain how each control should be used:
In the first mode, you can manually drag the image in any direction by holding down the left mouse
button and dragging on the image.
In the second mode, automatic panning begins as soon as you click on the control. The image
continues to pan around until the control is clicked a second time.
Full Screen
Expands the image to use the entire surface area of the screen. All the other controls can be used in
this view. Clicking on it a second time will exit Full Screen view. The Esc key on your keyboard will
also exit Full Screen view.
Hide Controls
To close the panoramic view, click on the close button in the top right corner of the window.
If your device can receive emails, the 360°panorama can be viewed by moving the device instead of
using the on-screen controls.
This additional feature will allow the viewer a more immersive experience using the VR
Viewer glasses.
The minimum requirements to be able to take advantage of the 2020 VR Viewer functionality for
Android, iOS or Windows-Phone mobile devices are as follows:
The mobile device/browser must support WebGL.
o Only Android Browser V5 onwards supports WebGL.
o Only iOS Safari V8 onwards supports WebGL.
o Only Windows IE mobile V11 onwards supports WebGL.
The device needs to have accelerometer and gyroscope sensors.
If the minimum requirements listed above are not met, then the panoramic image will still be
available to view and navigate on the mobile device, but the specific ‘2020 VR Viewer’ option will
not be accessible.
Export Options
It is possible to change the quality setting for the exported panoramic view. Opting for a
higher resolution will result in improvements to the detail of the graphics displayed in the
panoramic image.
Generating a panoramic view with a higher resolution will take longer than one on a lower setting.
There is also an option to generate the panoramic view in the background enabling you to carry
on using Fusion while you wait for it to be published. The preview facility will be disabled when
this is selected.
You can also choose which email address your copy goes to (company or you).
Now select Internet Settings and choose the required quality setting.
If the Background Export option has been selected, there will be no preview. Instead a message
will appear confirming that the panorama has been published.
