Students will be able to half simple (even) numbers from 1 to 40.

Engage (warm up, review prior knowledge): time:
1. Engagement 5 minutes
Teacher will use different items such as two banana connected to each other and she will ask students 5
to think, What happen to the banana? minutes
 Students should guess think about it
 Teacher will expect that students will say halving the banana into two parts will give us one
banana in each hand.

2. Exploration and Explanation (In the carpet) 5minutes minutes

Teacher will start explaining half numbers by using magnates


Teacher will start with small numbers for example
1. 4 magnates in the white board
2. Half them equally into to two parts
3. Count how many magnet in each part (2 +2=4)
4. Half 4 is 2
Teacher will give students different numbers in each time she explain and students will be able
to discuss in pairs about the answers.
Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment): 30
3. Elaboration 15 minutes minutes
Students will start doing the activities
Bottom:
1. Teacher will give students numbers made of cartons and students should put ice-cream sticks
in the correct place to notice the half number of each number

2. Teacher will give each student a paper halving in the middle and students will be able to
make points by using water color in the box then they will fold the paper.

Middle:
1. Students will start doing the hanger activity, they have to write random even number in the
shirt then they will half the number into two parts by using the clips

2. Students will use halving activity

Top: Students will start classifying whole numbers and halves

3. Evaluation 10 minutes
Teacher will distribute the worksheets

- Bottom: Students will find out the half of numbers by counting ladybug pointes
- Middle: Student will half numbers by separating shapes into two parts, and then they will
write the answer by using number bonds activity
- Top: Students will half numbers
Challenge:
If students pass the assessment they will start doing the complex spider web.

Whole class activity 5 minutes
Teacher will choose 4 students randomly and they have to choose the correct key (half number) to
open the key locker (Whole number)
