a unique collection of

civilisation, and from the
Carthaginian and Roman
periods.
The Cathedral of Santa
Maria, built by the Pisans
and then modified over
the centuries, takes you
through the history of
Cagliari. It has precious
Pisan sculptures, Aragon-
ese chapels and the great
Crypt of the Martyrs.
The Palazzo di Città
across from the Cathedral
was the seat of the City’s
government from the
Middle Ages to the late
19th century, and is now
an exhibition and cultural
centre.

or in town?
With the city buses in just a
few minutes you can reach
Poetto beach, which is
lined with bars and eater-
ies. If you’d rather stay in
town, head for the Marina
quarter: it is a foodie para-
dise, with plenty of tratto-
rias, restaurants and snack
bars to choose from. Some

Cagliari ha al suo interno un’area naturale
unica: il Parco di Molentargius, con lo

basta una passeggiata per vederli, a decine,
che volano o sostano nell’acqua bassa.
Eppure il Parco di Molentargius non è l’unico
ecosistema naturale in città: il promontorio
roccioso di capo Sant’Elia e la Sella del
Diavolo sono intatti e coperti dalla macchia.
Fra i loro lentischi e le agavi vivono colonie
di conigli, sulle pareti di calcare a picco
sul mare volano gheppi, gabbiani reali e
colombi. Cagliari ha anche grandi parchi e
giardini, diversi fra loro per storia, atmosfera
e paesaggio, alcuni con ampie spianate di
prato, altri ombreggiati da alberi centenari:

Cagliari has a unique nature park right in town: the
Saline and Molentargius Wetland Park, home to an
exceptional variety of wild birds. The most striking
are the pink flamingos, which can be easily seen

and Sella del Diavolo are unspoilt and clothed in

gardens, each with a different history, atmosphere
and landscape, some of them with wide lawns, others
