Task 2. Classroom Manipulatives.

 Identify models and manipulatives that are available to use in a mathematics classroom
that you visit.
o Did you see them being used

Yes, she is use a lot of math material in classroom because its available in the classroom.

o If so, what models and manipulatives were used?

As I said she use a lot of them like she has a mini colorful circle she uses it when they have the
groups of lesson to model it for the students. And she asks the student to do model induvial
were they sit as a circle in the carpet and she put the mini colorful circle in front of the them
and she ask them to model for example 3 groups of 2. She has a big wooden frame that
numbered from 1 to 100 she uses for skip counting. Also, she has cards have multiplication
problems she gave it to the student to solve it their note they choose randomly and write it
down and solve it. They have the tens; hundred and thousand wooden martial they use it in
morning what she did she count the school day with the student so when they complete 10
days she ask them to show the ten wooden material to other they count every morning.

 Ask your MST about how she organizes her class when she uses manipulatives.
o Does she write her lessons differently?

At the begging of the unit will do the formative assessment and then from that we get what
they can do and what they can’t and they will be divided to groups according to the formative
assessment as it goes on I change them depend on what the skill is improving or not normally
the low groups have a manipulatives and the middle group starting to not need them and the
high group can’t do it without.

o Does she use more or less time for the activities?

More because I want them to practice and I want them to do it so I don’t want them to listen
to me.

o How does she prepare the materials before the lesson?

Prepare them before the lesson sometime what happen is the students is not understanding
so I use the materials to ensure they will do it good.

o How does she give directions or model the use of the manipulatives?

Model to them in the carpet and make sure that all see what I do and according to that I let
them to do practice as Pairs or ask them to model in the middle of the carpet.
 Take pictures of the materials for your artifacts collection, if appropriate, take pictures of
students working with the materials.
Because of I was working with the students I can’t take picture of it, but I take the
materials picture that is in the classroom.
