Motivation
I will show the children the S puppet and ask them to identify the letter on the puppet’s shirt.
Steps
1. I will show the children the S puppet.
2. I will ask the children to identify the letter on the puppet’s shirt.
3. When the children identify the letter I will ask them if they know what sound S makes.
4. We will repeat the S sound a few time as a class.
5. I will explain to the children that we are going to read a book about Ms.S and her silly socks!
6. I will read the book to the children and ask them to pay attention to the words that start with S.
7. After reading the book I will ask the children to tell me some of the words in the book that start with S.
8. I will ask the children to stand up and stretch.
9. I will play The S song for the children and ask them to dance along and make the S sound to follow along
with the song.
10. I will then ask the children to sit back down and explain to them that I am going to call them in small
groups to the table and we are going to do an activity using playdough.
11. I will demonstrate to the children how to roll the playdough into an S shape.
12. I will call the children in groups of 4 to complete the activity.
13. I will repeat this process until all the children have completed the activity.
Conclusion
I will then play the video The S song by HeidiSongs and let the children sing and dance along.
Transition
I will ask the children to look around the room and find something that starts with the letter S.
