STUDENTS AT THE

 Abstract

 Purpose: The purpose of this research is to found out about bad

habits of students at International Balkan Universit y

 Methods: A total of 18 students have completed questionnaires

about drinking and smoking habits at International Balkan
University and the target group were the students of the third
year studies from the departments of Social Sciences and Faculty
of Education.

 Results: The results obtained in the research are done for the
first time, and as a goal that we have is to found out about bad
habits of drinking and smoking at International Balkan
U n i v e r s i t y.

 Conclusion:We conclude that majority of students do not drink at

all, as well as that majority of students don’t smoke. But also we
conclude that mostly students buy alcohol in supermarkets, liquor
shops and clubs, and that they usually had drinks in clubs.
 Introduction

In this quantitative research we had as a goal to found out about

t h e d r i n k i n g a n d s m o k i n g h a b i t s a t I n t e r n a t i o n a l B a l k a n u n i v e r s i t y. W e
conducted a research with questionnaires to get data about drinking and
s m o k i n g h a b i t s o f t h e t h i r d ye a r s t u d e n t s o f F a c u l t y o f S o c i a l S c i e n c e s
a n d F a c u l t y o f E d u c a t i o n , a t I n t e r n a t i o n a l B a l k a n U n i v e r s i t y. T h e
reason why we have done this qu antitative research is to find out the
answer on the following questions which be presented here in this
quantitative research . The questions that are part of this quantitative
research are:

1. How many of target group drinks

2. How many of the target group smokes
3. How many students of FHSS drinks
4. How many students of FE drinks
5. Where the target group got alcohol the most
6. At which place do they usually drink

It is very importan t to say that we had 18 respondents that

answered on these questionnaires. Through this research we would like
to gain some information on the following questions but also to see
their habits in order to prevent them but also to see status of bad habits
a t I n t e r n a t i o n a l B a l k a n U n i v e r s i t y.

ANALYZING DATA
 Findings of our research that were done in the SPSS program
using basic descriptive statistics, frequencies and crosstabs. The
questionnaire contained 21 question. Each of the student had to answer
on it, but as I said at the beginning we will be focusing on the 6
questions that we are most interested in. But also, I should mention
that out of 18 student only 4 were males. The target age was from 18 to
20 (3 of them) and from 21 to 25 (15 of them), in total 18, as presented
below in the tables.

RESULTS
 1. HOW MANY OF TARGET GROUP DRINKS

We found out that in a week, including the weekend, h ow often

they consume alcohol. The possible answers were,

 No drink at all, our study shows that 9 of them do not consume

alcohol at all;
 Once a week, our study shows that 4 of them consume alcohol;
 Two to four times, our study shows that 4 of them consume alcohol;
 Five to six times, our study shows that only 1 consume alcohol

Out of 18 respondent 9 of them do not consume alcohol at all and 9 of

them consume alcohol in a week.

2. HOW MANY OF THE TARGET GROUP SMOKES

This question will help us to see for how long they used a
cigarettes. But also, I will include information about how many

 7 out 18 said that they haven’t tried even one cigarettes;

 3 out 18 said that they tried from 1 -2 cigarettes;
 2 out 18 said that they tried from 6 -9 cigarettes;
 5 out 18 said that they tried from 10-19 cigarettes;

3. HOW MANY STUDENTS OF FHSS DRINKS

We found out that students fro m FHSS in a week, including the

weekend usually drinks:

The reason why we have done this is to found out how many of
students of FHSS usually drinks in a week.

4. HOW MANY STUDENTS OF FE DRINKS

But also, we would like to make comparison and to see also how
many students of FE drinks as well:

 Not drink at all answered 4 out of 8;

 Once a week 2 out of 8;
 2-4 times 2 out of 8;
 5-6 times 0 out of 8;

If we make comparison between students of FHSS and FE we can

see that students from FHSS drinks more than the students of FE.

5. WHERE THE TARGET GROUP GOT ALCOHOL THE MOST

The results shows that respondents got alcohol mostly in

supermarkets, liquor shops and clubs.

CONCLUSION

From this qualitative research study we conclude that students

mostly do not drink and smoke. That they usually had drinks in clubs
and that they buy alcohol from the supermarkets, liquor shops and
clubs. This stud y shows us that students at International Balkan
University do not smoke a lot and that they have mostly good habits
regards smoking and drinking. The results that we have found here are
very satisfactory and we h ope that in the future will be the same or
even better.
