5. The medic should ensure that they contact relevant staff as soon as possible
to inform them of the incident and eventual outcome.
6. All accidents should be recorded on appropriate forms and filed at the end of
each day to the office. It is the responsibility of all staff to note down the details of
any accidents that happen to them or to public to the office. It is the responsibility of
all staff to report and record in the accident book.
9. Incidents where no injury has been sustained but which have identified a
potential risk must also be reported and recorded.
10. Managers must monitor and analyse accident and incident records on a
regular basis. This information should be used to inform practice and improve
safety.
11. People under the influence of alcohol or drugs are a hazard to themselves
and the public must be reported. If an accident is caused when a person is drunk or
on drugs it must be reported.
12. In the event of a major accident being the result of faulty equipment or
premises, then the scene of the accident must be blocked off until an investigation
has been completed by the Police and/or the Health and Safety Authority.
13. Following any accident managers will make an assessment as to the cause
and any remedial action that should be taken. All accidents to employees,
volunteers and public will be the subject of verification and an initial investigation by
the Registered Manager. This may involve disciplinary action where negligence is
found.
