The refugee crisis at hand is going as far as to even affect the DRC as we are even losing our own
people due to the violence at hand, and because of this we should try to figure out away to keep the people in
our own countries so that others do not have to take care of them, which means we need to figure out a safe
environment for the refugees, and it will be making sure no sovereignty is broken if each country takes care of
their own.

Congo believes that there is not really an issue at hand and nor plan to address it any time soon. The
DCR is having their own issue people leaving the country because of the extreme war violence and sex crimes
being committed here. From the extreme violence being committed more than 1.3 million have been displaced,
according to the Norwegian Refugee Council report. Then, the ones who had remained in Kasai Central
province; many of which are people who were enlisted into armed groups. In the article Refugee in Africa: The
Congo Crisis Neglected By The World, Conor Gaffey says, “More than a million people displaced in less then a
year, thousands killed and dumped in mass graves. But no one seems to care about the displacement crisis in
the Democratic Republic of Congo.” The congolese refugees is now considered one of the worst conflict
displacements affected countries in the world.

The government had been in discussion about lot’s of topics at hand but the one they are not focusing
on, is their own people fleeing because of the extreme violence at hand. There’s been little talk about how to
solve the refugee crisis all the way to President Joseph Kabila’s refusal to step down in the end of his mandate
last year. From this a increased tension and even waves of protests had happened across the country. The
country has even gone as far as to send troops to keep people from fleeing across Lake Albert in small canoes
that are extremely over-packed. In the article Fleeing DRC to Uganda: Africa’s other refugee crisis, Ingebjorg
Karstad states, “It takes up to 10 hours to make the perilous journey. Several refugees have already drowned
attempting the crossing.” The government really doesn’t care very much about what happens to the people in
the DRC, as they continue the violence and not focus on how to make the country a safer place for their
people, they’re even putting soldiers in the towns so that people are not able to flee to safety.

The Congo had decided to not partake in the helping of the settlement of refugees. They see no
concern or deep care into the crisis that at hand. Not even for their own people.
