Internalize the Melody


Embellish or paraphrase the Melody

HARMONIC GENERALIZATION

Understand the Key areas. What notes change between to key areas? Those notes are the doorways
to the new keys

Be able to apply several different triadic general ideas to each key area including:
Triads with NT groups
Bluesy/Blues/Pentatonic/Blues Scale Generalization ideas in a variety of moods

HARMONIC SPECIFICITY

Find the central tone that identifies each chord and use those Guide Tones notes as doorways
Write down, sing, and practice each outline individually over the entire progression
Outline No. 1
Outline No. 1 embellished with 3-5-7-9 arpeggios
Outline No. 2 from odd to even
Outline No. 2 from even to odd
Outline No. 3 & 3-5-7-9 arpeggios
3-5-7-9 arpeggios & Outline No. 3
Isolate chord tones and find step progressions
Create and embellish other simple lines
Find patterns that can be sequenced

AGENDAS

Practice using established agendas with a mixture of the above items. An agenda might look like this:
