MH Students Social Media Use

MH Students
@mhstudents

Potential Bio: “MH Students exists to see students connect to Jesus and community, grow
in their walks with Jesus, and go out to their spheres of influence

Why?
 93% of teens ages 15-17 have mobile access to the internet through a phone, tablet or
other device.
 73% of responding internet users aged 13 to 24 used social photo sharing app,
Instagram.
 In North America, young adults and teenagers aged 16-24 spend the most time online
via mobile, more than any other age group, spending nearly 200 minutes per day on a
mobile device.
 According to numbers this year, MH Students is averaging 51 students a meeting and
Route 56 is averaging 48 students a Sunday morning across all campuses.

Since there is large percentage of social media users among the age group our ministry serves—
especially Instagram and Twitter—MH Students has a huge opportunity to use social media to
engage students and keep them in the loop on church-wide events as well as MH Students and
Route 56 specific events. There is also a freedom that comes with having MH Students social
media accounts since the audience is more targeted. There is not as much of a need to make
content that appeals to a more general audience. We would be able to use specific language
and trends to better engage current students and invite new students.

How?
To build a following for MH Students, we will leverage our small groups, weekly meetings, and
emails to inform our students about the new social media and have them begin to follow us
while we meet. We also can inform parents and use this platform as a way to display
information. As we would continue, our following would build as students/parents shared and
retweeted our posts as well as invite their friends to follow us.
