Mr. Terwilliger currently serves in the U.S. Department of Justice as Associate Deputy Attorney General & Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy Attorney General. As an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria Division, Mr. Terwilliger prosecuted organized crime and human trafficking cases. In 2013, Mr. Terwilliger served as Counsel to U.S. Attorney and managed all four of the District’s divisions while maintaining a substantial caseload. Mr. Terwilliger has spent two years on detail, including one year in the legislative branch as counsel to Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley where he crafted bipartisan sentencing reform legislation. For the past year, Mr. Terwilliger has served as Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
