Artifact- Assessment from my Educational Psychology class

INTASC STANDARD SIX-The teacher understands and uses multiple methods of assessment to

engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress, and to guide the teacher’s and

learner’s decision making.

The artifact that I chose for INTASC standard 6 is an assessment piece that I had to complete in

my Educational Psychology course. For this assignment I had to choose an objective to create an

assessment over. The objective that I chose was “Students will describe the rights protected in

the Bill of Rights”. I then had to figure out an appropriate assessment for this objective. I went

through many assessments but, I chose to do an assessment piece by having the students create a

poster that included all of the components of the Bill of Rights and I created a rubric as well to

assess their posters. I created the rubric by including several key components, Graphics -Clarity,

Knowledge Gained, Content Accuracy, Use of Class Time, and Required Elements. I also made

sure that my artifact related to the RSVP standards, (Reliability, Standardization, Validity, and

Practicality).

I chose this artifact for standard six because the artifact states that the teacher needs to

understand multiple different types of assessment pieces. I went through different assessment

pieces and I chose the best one for my objective. I was able to learn a new type of assessment

(Rubrics) and apply that as my assessment piece for my objective.

As a future learning goal, I would like to expand my knowledge on assessments even further, and

I would like to learn many more methods of assessments. I know several different ways to create

assessments now, but I would like to know so many more. I will reach this goal by practicing
creating assessments and by participating in student teaching where I will gain knowledge there

as well.
