Artifact- Science Lesson Plan

Standard #7: Planning for Instruction

The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by

drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy,

as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.

The artifact that I chose was an artifact from my Teaching Scientific Inquiry class and it was a

lesson plan that we had to complete. This assignment required us to go into detail and explain the

learning objectives, the materials needed, step by step instruction, and we had to come up with

accommodations for the different needs of different types of children. For this assignment we

also had to list the Indiana state standards that we incorporated into the lesson plan. This

assignment was a great learning assignment for me as a teacher because I will be making lesson

plans every single day as a teacher and I want to make sure that I do it the right way and the most

efficient way as possible. This assignment meets INTASC standard 7 because not only did I plan

instruction, but I also listed many different accommodations for different children in order for

them to meet their learning goals which is a part of standard 7.

As a future learning goal, I hope to become fluent in making lesson plans and I hope to

be able to create lesson plans much faster than what it took me to create this one. I enjoyed

creating this lesson plan, but it took me quite a while because I am not used to creating lesson

plans yet. I hope that with time and practice creating lesson plans in the future, that I will become

fluent at creating lesson plans and that they will come more naturally. I feel that lesson plans are

one of the most important aspects of teaching children and having a structured environment.

With that being said I hope to continue to get better each and every lesson plan that I create.
