Global History

4/10/18

As a citizen and a patriot of my country, I believe that I have the right to write this declaration

to the Russians who have occupied 20% of Georgia. A few centuries ago, Russia, for which

Georgia is a drop in the sea, tried to exploit and disperse the territories, but we still stood up and

fought. My country is independent since May 26, 1928 but independence is not the main thing

when the population of the country does not exceed 4 million and 20% is occupied.

I believe that this declaration is fair and solid, and all the reasons are against Russia’s unlawful

and destructive actions! We demand to be a completely independent country. I will bring some

events that have been developed a few years ago and all are examples of Russia’s fierce actions.

- (1992-1993) The war in Abkhazia, which lasted for 13 months, has killed 20,000 to

30,000 Georgians, 250,000 have become refugees. This area is still occupied.

- Many people lost their lives, family members and the most beautiful part of their

homeland

- Russia, as well as Georgia, is a Christian country. These two countries share the same

faith, while Russia destroys and obstructs the churches in which Russians have the right

to pray

- Georgian soldiers always fought hard to defend Georgia and they often went abroad for

peacekeeping missions. The Russians were taking them to prison, blaming them for

betrayal of the country and finally killing them

- The first reason why they were so fierce was that Georgians didn’t recognize Georgia as

a Russian state

- The second reason was that they did not insult the Georgian flag when the Russian’s

asked for it

- On August 8, 2008, the Russians sent troops to Georgia. They took a lot of cities and the

capital was also partially dispersed.

- 170 servicemen, 14 policemen and 228 civilians were killed and 283 were wounded

The Russians attitude towards Georgia and Georgians is quite clear from these given reasons.

Georgia has suffered and is still standing despite all of this, but Georgians, address the Russian

government and loudly say that we have the right to be independent and united country!!
