Stage 3 – Learning Plan

Learning Activities:
At the beginning of the lesson I will read the students a book called,
Sorting, by Henry Pluckrose. I will follow up with questions and have
them tell me what their favorite part of the book was.
I will continue with a hand out that will clarify sorting or grouping
questions.
I will continue with the lesson by asking students to get in groups and hand them out
bunch of different colored balls, and have them separate blue balls in one corner, and all
the other colored balls in the opposite corner, then continue with all the red balls in one
corner and all the other colored balls in the other corner.
I will end the lesson with a game ISPY, during this activity, I will ask the students to find
the same color but different objects, for example, look for everything that is BLUE, blue
ball, blue pen, blue chalk, blue shirt, blue bear, and continue with other colors. This will
be a great exercise for classofying colors.

Authentic Assessment:

I will ask the students to reflect on sorting and classifying. I will ask them to write down
what stood out for them throughout the lesson. I will ask them to take a 5 minute quiz
on sorting and classifying. Lastly, I will ask them to sort an item at home and draw a
picture of what the item is and how they classified and sorted it.
