1. Introduction

3.1. Background:

Nowadays, people love to shop. They go for traditional shopping and some go for online shopping.

Shopping indeed is a part of our life. Shopping can change our mood. For instance, if you are feeling

nervous, you can go for shopping in order to relax. According to Oxford dictionary, 'shop' means ' a

building or part of a building where things are bought and sold ' so shopping is the out of buying

2
things, what we need and want. Most of the time, women love to shop more than men. Although

we’d like to believe that e-commerce is the only future, studies show that people still like shopping at

traditional stores. The best shopping experience still happens offline: People find it hard to choose

when unable to touch or try out products. They don’t want to wait for delivery. They enjoy actually

going around and physically browsing through products. (25% of people who have shopped both

offline and online say the old way is “relaxing and enjoyable.

3.2.1. Purpose:

There are many strong reasons for me to choose this topic. The first reason is; all people love to do

shopping in their free time. The second reason is that knowledge of any traditional markets or online

shopping expose his products

3.2.2. Objectives:

1. To discuss the pros and cons of online shopping and traditional markets.

2. To improve shopping online.

3. To see popular of online shopping in Oman.

4. Body
Literature Review

Online retail is continuing to grow at an astounding rate, yet the majority of people still actually

prefer to shop in-store, so there are still great opportunities for retailers to take advantage of both.

3
Which option you choose will depend on your business, the product you sell and how you want to

interact with customers.

1. To discuss the pros and cons of online shopping and traditional markets.

Pros of Online

There are some fantastic benefits to selling online. Setting up an online store comes with significantly

lower startup costs than a traditional physical store, with no need to pay for a large physical space

and all of the ongoing costs that can entail. As a result, you can get started quickly, with less capital

investment and start selling straight away.

Customers also appreciate the convenience of e Commerce. Being able to shop from home without

direct sales pressure, and with the ability to browse in your own time can make the process much

more appealing to some customers. Then having products delivered straight to their door, within a

few days and even at a time to suit the customer, can be even more attractive

Cons of Online

It’s also more difficult to build meaningful interactions with your customers as there’s no face to face

interaction. You’ll need to go the extra mile to give customers confidence in your store and assure

them you’re a trustworthy brand.

Pros of traditional market

The advantages of offline retail are well cemented. It remains the most popular shopping channel for

consumers and can’t currently be matched by online when it comes to customer experience. With a

traditional bricks-and-mortar store, you can craft a unique experience for your customers and express

your brand in a creative way.

4
Having an offline store also gives you instant access to passing trade, without having to invest in a

marketing budget. Having a great store location can make you easily visible to your target market and

can build your brand locally.

Cons of traditional market

Just as the pros of offline retail are well known, so are the cons when compared to e-commerce.

Higher setup and running costs are very likely. Traditional stores generally have higher running costs

than online retailers, with electricity, water, rent and more to pay for every month. This allows less

room for error when it comes to your initial financial investment. With an offline store, you can see

funding dry up very quickly if you’re not careful.

Also, just as location can be a virtue, it can also be a curse for some bricks-and-mortar stores. Not

picking the correct location could seriously hamper your success, no matter how great your product

offering is. You also have no control over what goes on around your store. A competitor could open

next door and eat away at your business or the up-keep of the area might not be desirable and

potential customers could move away.

2. To improve shopping online.

Obtaining merchandise from the solace of your own lounge room surely is more helpful than really

heading to a store, while offering a for all intents and purposes boundless cluster of decisions and the

capacity to look at costs. While online installment and security innovation have made considerable

progress, despite everything you may encounter issues with web based shopping now and again. This

article covers a portion of the more typical issues, for example, misunderstanding the thing or falling

prey to online tricks, and approaches to limit these potential pitfalls

3. To see popular of online shopping in Oman

5
Oman is one of the countries that have an advanced technological infrastructure and an active

Internet user base. The internet usage penetration in relation to population has increased dramatically

in the past few years. However, online shopping is yet to rise significantly considering the fact that

people are reluctant to purchase through internet.

Methodology
6
4.2.1. Data Collection Method

I am going to use Questionnaire method for my research. The firs method I choose is Questionnaire

for many reasons. The first reason is, I can give questionnaire to many people at a time, so I get a lot

of information. The second reason is; I can save a lot of time to complete the research. The third

reason is; it is easy to collect information. The next reason is; I get correct information because they

take time to answer the questionnaire. The last reason is; it is easy to analyze the results.

4.2.2. Interview and Questionnaire Design

I had 3 parts in my questionnaire survey there are personal information. 4 Yes / No type question ,4

multiply type question and 2 WH type question. In first part personal information section had gender

and age. To know the sex of the person we will identify each person way of thinking of them. Also, it

is not necessary to know the person name because that wills make the students not honest in their

answer the second part, yes/no type question because of the speed to each an answer and easily count

the number of people who answered yes or no. The finally part WH type (open ended) questions

because to get more information. Finally, these people who give them the questionnaire helped me to

collect the right information for my project.

4.2.3. Sampling

I gave my questionnaire for different people actually finding people was easy for me because I study

in college so I can find different people with different age experiences and different towns, so I

choose 5 girls and 5 boys from Shinas college of technology of them are from different town in

Oman. I choose this sample because they give useful information for my project. I knew it is not

adequate population but I have my reason. First, I am student so I cannot wise a lot of time on it.

Moreover, I not have money to print more paper, that’s way I take only 10 people so I can save my

time and my money.

7
4.3. Anticipated problems

While collecting the data for my questionnaire, I faced some problems. The first problem is; we face

many difficulties while we are typing the information because I am so slow in typing. The second

problem is; we did not have enough time to do our project. We have other subjects which needs to

focus on. The third problem is; we do not have enough vocabulary. The last problem is; we did not

get the exact information that we look for.

4.3.1 proposed solutions

All this problem has solutions. The first solution is, practice our keyboard. The second solution is,

set our priorities to do everything in the proper time. The third solution is, try to use many sources

which will help us to get suitable vocabulary for our topic and make it attractive. The last solution is,

try to choose the right or appropriate category which will help us get the information we when do

research.
