Ministry for the Sick and Homebound
We are grateful to those who give of their time and
care to bring Holy Communion to our parishioners
who cannot make it to church due to sickness or in-
firmity. If you know of anyone who would like to re-
ceive communion in their home or while hospitalized
at West Lincoln Hospital, please contact the parish
office.
SVDP Society
What do we do? - We help our needy
neighbours that live within the bounda-
ries of St. Helen. All calls are screened
and a home visit is arranged with two
members attending.
How are we supported? - The poor box in the ves-
tibule of the church is our main means of support. A
cheque made out to St. Helen St. Vincent de
Paul can be dropped in the poor box or the Sunday
collection. There are also St. Vincent de Paul enve-
lopes available for cash donations. Interested in
joining us, call Lorraine at 905-563-7043.
Canadian Tire Money
We continue to collect Canadian Tire
money to purchase raffle prizes for fund-
raising events. It can be brought to the
office or in the collection basket.
Tuesday, May 22nd - 60th Diocesan CWL Anniver-
sary. CWL members are invited to come to City
Hall, 50 Church Street, St. Catharines by 1:00 p.m.
for flag raising ceremony and presentation at 1:30
p.m. St. Helen CWL scarves will be available.
Popes Pastoral Works
For those who wish to contribute to the
Pope’s Pastoral Works, please put your of-

Wed. Mass Time Change - Please note this
Wednesday, there will be a special Mass celebrated
by Bishop Bergie at 12 noon for St. Mark School af-
ter which they will do a pilgrimage walk with the
Bishop. You are welcome to attend the Mass at
noon.
First Holy Communion
Congratulations to the grade 2
students from St. Mark and St. Ed-
ward Schools who will receive Je-
sus in the Holy Eucharist for the
first time this Sunday. Thank you
to all who assisted with the cele-
brations and prepared the children for their first Holy
Communion. Please keep them and their families in
your prayers.

God is made known to us through love. (I Jn)
“This I command you: love one another.” (Jn)
Teachers, parents, bosses and
others have been accused of being
“partial” at one time or another. “It’s
not fair!” also expresses this frustra-
tion. Most of us have probably said
or at least thought these words on
occasion.
It would be quite a compliment to
be accused of being impartial. That
is exactly what the reading from Acts does today:
“God shows no partiality.” Luke could have said that
God is partial to everyone and everything. The letter
and Gospel of John root this attitude in God’s love
for us.
Do we believe it? Everyone? Even me? My exasper-
ating neighbor? The person on death row?

YOUth Blasters upcoming gatherings will be at the

in our faith together through prayer, activities, crafts,
music and snacks! All newcomers are welcome
(grade 3 and up)! Please pick up a registration form

St. Helen Migrant
Worker Outreach
Our parish supports Lincoln’s
Migrant Workers of Hispanic
descent that visit our area
yearly working on our local
farms. We continue our spe-
cial Mass for migrant workers on Sundays at 5:30
p.m. so that they may have the opportunity to come
together as a community of faith while away from
their homeland.
Once again, we are calling for Volunteer Drivers to
assist with pick up at 5:00 p.m. and drop off @ 7:00
p.m. Especially needed are large vans. If you are
interested in being a volunteer driver, please contact
Frances at 905-562-5475 or place your name on the
sign-up sheet on the round table by the window in
the church entrance.

Welcome Deacon Mike!
We wish to welcome Deacon Mike
Timmins who will be joining our par-
ish. Deacon Mike was ordained a
Permanent Deacon in the Archdio-
cese of Ottawa in 2005. He served in
the parishes of Holy Spirit in Stittsville,
St Mathews in Glen Abby, Oakville and the Diocese
of Grand Falls Windsor in Newfoundland. Deacon
Mike and his wife, Ina, moved from the Eastport
Peninsula, in central Newfoundland and presently
live in Vineland. Be sure to give him a warm St.
Helen’s welcome and introduce yourself!

"Renewing the Promise"
“For the promise is for you, for your children,
and for all who are far away, everyone whom the
Lord our God calls to him.” Acts 2:39
Catholic Education Week begins on a Sunday to
highlight the partnership that remains the foundation
of Catholic education between our Catholic schools
and local Catholic parishes. During Education Week,
the Niagara Catholic District School Board will cele-
brate the significant contribution that Catholic Educa-
tion has made to the community, the province, and
to Canada.
Catholic Education Week combines the themes of
reconciliation, solidarity, love, justice, and ecology
and is marked by special activities at the school and
system level, including prayer celebrations and ser-
vice activities. Parents, family, and community
members are invited to visit our schools during this
special week and join in the many activities planned.
There are five sub-themes, one for each day of the
week:
Monday: Remembering the Promise
Tuesday: The Promise is Within You
Wednesday: Praying the Promise
Thursday: Living the Promise
Friday: Proclaiming the Promise
