ECONOMIC OFFENCES WING, DELHI POLICE

MISSION STATEMENT

PURPOSE
The purpose of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is to prevent, detect and investigate
cases of economic, cyber and Intellectual Property related crimes to ensure prompt justice and
desired relief to the victims and to become the benchmark for other units in Delhi Police in
investigation of such cases.

SPECIALIZED WING
We are a specialized wing of the Delhi Police to deal with important cases concerning
multi-level-marketing frauds, share market frauds, multi-victim frauds, foreign trade related
frauds, land and building rackets, offences of forgery, cheating by individuals and Non-Banking
Financial Companies, cyber crimes, offences related to Intellectual Property Rights and such like
cases.

PROFESSIONAL AND MODERN METHODS

We, in the EOW, strive to achieve excellence in the investigation of cases of economic
crimes by adopting professional and modern methods by equipping ourselves with state-of-the–
art knowledge and by being cognizant of the emerging trends in the field.

PUBLIC INTEREST CASES

We are sensitive towards the victims of such cases where a large number of people get
duped by fraudsters and cheats and pursue such cases with vigour and zeal. We educate the
public about the various modus operandi adopted by such criminals so that they don’t fall prey to
their evil designs.
CYBER CRIMES
The Cyber Crime Cell of EOW strives to be pro-active in adopting modern methods of
investigation by continuously upgrading its capabilities to face the challenge of ever-increasing
cyber crimes. It creates awareness amongst students and general public about such crimes.

CONTINUOUS TRAINING & CO-ORDINATION

We, in the Economic Offences Wing, continuously endeavour to upgrade our professional
skills by organizing specialized training programmes for our officers and men.
 SHARING & DISSEMINATION
We share our experiences with officers of other units in the Delhi Police as an endeavor
to raise the standards of investigation related to such crimes. We provide prompt technical
assistance to other units in solving cases involving complex transactions. We maintain database
of economic offenders of Delhi and the various modus operandi adopted by them and pursue
cases till their logical end.
