How did you feel about TP today/this week?

What areas are you focused on and what progress

have you made? Explain.

This week in my teaching practice I focused on teaching science for grade 3 students with miss
Megan, it was a good experience because I had the chance to get to know grade 3 students, I felt
really good about it because it was my first time teaching the students and it went very well and I
had a good feedback on teaching them.

What duties / activities did you carry out during the school today? Critically Reflect: Did you feel
that you did a good job?

In this week I didn’t have too many duties because most of the students went to the camping and I
stayed at the school with the students who didn’t went to the camp, and I stayed with Mr. Ruins in
grade 5 and we had some different activities with the students during the day.

What was the most interesting science activity or strategy you saw? Why did you think it was
interesting and worth noting/remembering

This week, I observed some interesting activities with Mr. Ruins class with using virtual reality glasses
and also they used Quiver which is an app that the students can print out some pictures and color
them out and after coloring the picture they can scan it by using the Quiver app and the picture will
show up on 3D mode. It was interesting because it brings up the picture in real life and the students
like to visualize things in front of them.

What did you try out? Was it successful? Why/why not? Which TP competencies do you feel you
achieved and which do you think that you need to focus on next time?

I tried out to teach grade 3 students, and it went well but I have to focus on my behavior
management according to what Miss Megan told me, I felt achieved in the point that I engaged the
students very well although it was my first time attending to their class and teaching them, but I
engaged them and we finished up the lesson together.

What was the most important thing you learnt about students or teaching science today? Can you
think of any way you could better engage students in any activity you saw today

I think that the important thing is that the activities of teaching science should be engaging to the
students and creative to get their attention, for example the Quiver activity is very good because it
brings up the picture in real life and the students enjoy that. Also when I did the engagement activity
for grade 3 students about living and nonliving things, I brought them real objects in a way that they
can see it and feel it instead of seeing pictures only. And it helped me to engage the students for the
lesson.

Critically Reflect: Identify an aspect of your own behaviour (e.g. time / behaviour management)
that you feel you could improve upon. Discuss ways in which you could improve this.

My time management is improved by last lesson that I did but my behavior management still have to
be improved on especially with younger students its hard to manage them during the lesson. And I
have to have a strategy that will keep the students with me such as “hands on top that means stop”
which they’re familiar with.

What are your agreed responsibilities for your next day/week in TP? Be specific

My agreed responsibilities is that to have many strategies to engage the students for a science
lessons regarding to the future and also to have strategies to manage the behavior in the class.
