Purpose: Standard Operating Procedure for CW PUMP

Scope: This procedure explains the Normalization/Starting of first CW Pump and Stopping
/Isolation of CW Pump.

Responsibility: CW Pump operator, Desk Engineer, Shift In charge.

Guide line:-
 All work permit should be cancelled.
 Ensure Power supply should be normal.
 Clearance should be available from Other department.
 Before taking in Operation Ensure equipment healthiness should be
available.

Procedure:
LINE UP PROCEDURE FOR NORMALIZATION OF CW PUMPS:

1) Take clearance from all concerned service departments, i.e. no permit are pending.
2) Ensure the following:-
a) Water channel level is normal (6 meters).
b) At least 5 riser valves of cooling tower are open.
c) Inlet & Outlet valve of one pass of condenser is open.
d) Cooling water line is initially charged.
e) CW Pump discharge butterfly valve is fully closed.
f) Pump bearing oil level is normal (70%)
g) Pump motor power is healthy.
h) Pump discharge valve power is healthy.
i) Pump vent & discharge line vent should be opened.
3) Check all start permissive of Pump from DCS are healthy:
a) Pump selection in Remote mode.
b) Breaker in service.
c) Breaker healthy.
d) D.C. supply healthy.
e) Spring charged.
f) No trip alarm persists.
g) Off feedback.
h) Emergency push button released.
